Isaiah Briscoe. Not even close.

Hagans actually has a nice shot, which is why he is good from the line. He just isn't consistent from the floor and he struggles finishing in contact. There is a big difference in that and being a bad shooter.

Wayne turner?

Wayne may not have had a natural position, but he was a winner and didn't cause harm. My vote is Archie (if he was considered a 2). Second place has to go to the worst passing guard I've ever seen on any level, Nick Young.

When did Nick Young play for UK?

Turner and Hawkins stick out in my mind. In Hawkins defense it could have been caused by his Saul Smith induced asthma.

It is Wayne Turner. There is no other answer for this one.

Worst looking shot would be Wayne Turner... but actual shooting.... I'm going with Hagans.... Hagans cant score inside against defenders and cant hit a jumper....

Turner career FG % - 48% , Career 3pt % - 31%
Hagans career FG % - 45% , career 3pt % - 24%
Rondo Career FG % - 48% , career 3pt% - 28%

it would be briscoe with 45% and 23% but he never played PG for us....

Briscoe could finish at the rim so that puts him way ahead of Hagans, we have had some bad shooting point guard’s through the years!

Its Turner . No one can answer any other way IMO . People say Briscoe but Briscoe shot 38% the first 3 months from 3 of his soph season. He also won a 3 pt shooting contest. Briscoe wasn't a great shooter but he wasn't horrible really. Turner was horrible.

Briscoe made 61% of his shot attempts at the rim over his two seasons. Hagans has made 60% of his shot attempts at the rim between last season and this season.

Looks to me like they finished at about the same rate.

Don't forget De'Aaron shot 24% from 3 but he could finish at the rim. Your title is worst shooting so I assume that means overall and if that is the case then Hagans has to be the front runner.

My pick would be Sean Sutton. I remember defense backing off Sean at the foul line. Not his fault, he was a good player but not a D1 point guard that his dad wanted him to be.

A close 2nd would have to be Hagans. A horrible looking shot with horrible results. A good defender with poor offensive skills. Talk of the NBA is hopeful, not realistic.

I love when people cite Briscoe’s 3 point contest win, as if it means anything to anything. Lol

Gilbert Arenas
Hey don't be bad mouthing Gilbert Arenas. Remember a month or 2 back when he said. The only reason a recruit would choose Duke over Kentucky would be if Duke paid the recruit. Because of Arenas saying that. Any negative remarks about Arenas on this board are off limits.

Derrick Jasper wasn't much of a shooter, 21 % and 3 made 3-point baskets as a freshman. 43% off 16 made 3's as a sophomore in an injury plagued year however he wasn't playing the point any longer. Increase in percentage but it's a fluke. Not a huge sample size and he went on to hit 26.5% and 25.8% from 3 in his final 2 years with UNLV.

His time under Tubby qualifies him as a PG for a season regardless of the **** show that was Billy Gillispie's tenure here. 100 assists as a freshman in a fully healthy campaign with Ramel playing the point at as well. Not sure 19 made 3's is enough to qualify him as a good shooter.

A career 47% Free Throw shooter at UK, 53% Freshman & 36% Sophomore. In his final 2 seasons, he shot 48.9% and 57.1 % from the charity stripe at UNLV.

Had he stayed healthy, Jasper could have been an intriguing prospect at his height with his steals, assists and rebounds for a guard. 17 blocks in his injury filled season too for a guy with the skills of a Guard & Small Forward. Calipari recruited him at Memphis back in the day as well.

He made half of his shots. So what shots he took, he made half of them. I will take a guy hitting half of his shots over a guy who makes a third of them. I do not give a rats *** if he can shot or called a "shooter", just make shots. That is what is most important, not if he is known as a shooter or not. Results are results. Rondo hit half, Harrison hit a little over a third.

For anyone who’s interested, below are a few shooting percentages for UK point guards going back to Teague.

While outside shooting has been an obvious weak spot for Hagans, I was curious about this more recent perception that he can’t hit interior shots. The numbers don’t seem to back that up and his percentages look pretty similar to Fox’s.
  • eFG %
    • 51.6 - SGA
    • 50.0 - Hagans
    • 49.8 - Fox
    • 49.7 - Ulis (2016)
    • 45.3 - Harrow
    • 44.9 - Teague
    • 44.6 - Harrison (2015)
    • 41.7 - Harrison (2014)
  • FG % at the rim (layups, dunks, put backs)
    • 64.2 - Fox
    • 63.2 - Harrow
    • 62.0 - Hagans
    • 61.1 - SGA
    • 57.8 - Ulis
    • 55.5 - Teague
    • 53.0 - Harrison (2015)
    • 49.1 - Harrison (2014)
  • FG % 2pt Jumpers
    • 44.7 - Ulis
    • 37.9 - SGA
    • 36.2 - Fox
    • 34.5 - Hagans
    • 29.0 - Harrow
    • 28.2 - Teague
    • 28.0 - Harrison (2015)
    • 27.0 - Harrison (2014)
  • FG % 3pt Jumpers
    • 40.4 - SGA
    • 38.3 - Harrison (2015)
    • 35.1 - Harrison (2014)
    • 34.4 - Ulis
    • 32.5 - Teague
    • 29.6 - Harrow
    • 27.5 - Hagans
    • 24.6 - Fox

I think what gives people the impression of Hagans is, his misses are wide open, uncontested lay ups, or short little runners with no one guarding him. It just seems like his are not driving the lane, up and over someone. Just he flat out misses bunnies. Fox, took it the rim and attacked taller players while trying to score, Hagans does not have that type of game, and he is definitely not playing above the rim. He is a solid defensive guard and runs the offense very well, but he can not shoot, period. His threes are not even close to makes. He went in for a lay up off the glass, and missed the whole damn rim. Even his free throws are bad, that tells me he can't shoot.

He averaged 6.2 shots per game which equates to 932 field goal attempts in his career. I do not claim he was a great shooter, but to say he was historically awful is unfair in my opinion. He has a better career field goal percentage than John Wall and shot virtually the same percentage as Wall from 3 point range (Wall is ahead 0.006%). And by the way, I am not saying Turner is a better player than John Wall. I am only trying to point out that Turner gets a bad rap, mainly in my opinion because of his ugly and lackluster free throw shooting. All he ever did at Kentucky was win and he has two championship rings to prove it.
FG% don’t matter near as much as where and when shots came from. Turner’s numbers are a product of his IQ. He knew he couldn’t shoot and limited himself. He wasn’t a good shooter by any stretch but he was a smart shooter. But aside from Rondo I can’t remember anyone who was less respected from the freethrow line on back.
