My pick would be Sean Sutton. I remember defense backing off Sean at the foul line. Not his fault, he was a good player but not a D1 point guard that his dad wanted him to be.

A close 2nd would have to be Hagans. A horrible looking shot with horrible results. A good defender with poor offensive skills. Talk of the NBA is hopeful, not realistic.
You must have Sutton mixed up with Saul Smith .

Right or wrong, but my mind tends to qualify someone’s shooting ability to begin at minimum 10-15ft. Layups and under the basket stuff definitely boost percentages for these guys who all scored a on a high volume of layups in their careers. I’d love to see the advanced percentages on some of these guys we’ve listed from the 10ft to 25ft range.

Well, you may want to sit down for a minute, I am afraid I have some bad news for you. Hagans is actually a worse lay up shooter than any other shot.Dude has to be shooting 20% or less of bunnies. he has a uncanny ability to not only miss, but miss really really bad. Against Evansville he laid it off the glass (good idea for a bad shooter), and still missed the whole damn rim.

I mean Rondo?? What is this? i watched him sink a 3 to win the game against south carolina. I dont think he did what the coach wanted but man he was clutch that game.

I don’t think he started much, but does anyone remember the PG that played for BCG, that got in trouble because of a relationship with a girl at church? His shot form wasn’t bad, but I always thought it was going in more than it did.

Um, yeah. Michael Porter. I think he started at PG all of BCGs 2nd and final year.

Are we really so young here people are asking if we “remember” players from the BCG era? Lol

So, does he deserve to be in the conversation? Ryan Harrow deserves some consideration too.

I think the conversation is about worst shooting PGs. He was awful, but a 35% career 3 point shooter. So no I don’t think he deserves to be in this particular conversation.

Harrow wasn’t good either, and shot poorly. But not the worst.

The worst pg shooter I've ever watched not wearing a uk jersey was Doug gotleib. He was fun to watch. Great passer n ball handler but horrific shooter

So far this year, Hagans is hitting 46.2% of his shots at the rim (i.e., layups or dunks). Last season, Hagans made 62% of his shots at the rim.

Given that we’re only three games into the season, it may simply be that Hagans is in a bit of a slump.

Isaiah Briscoe. Not even close.

Hagans actually has a nice shot, which is why he is good from the line. He just isn't consistent from the floor and he struggles finishing in contact. There is a big difference in that and being a bad shooter.
Hagans shot is anything but nice. Otherwise, it would go in at a higher percentage.

He averaged 6.2 shots per game which equates to 932 field goal attempts in his career. I do not claim he was a great shooter, but to say he was historically awful is unfair in my opinion. He has a better career field goal percentage than John Wall and shot virtually the same percentage as Wall from 3 point range (Wall is ahead 0.006%). And by the way, I am not saying Turner is a better player than John Wall. I am only trying to point out that Turner gets a bad rap, mainly in my opinion because of his ugly and lackluster free throw shooting. All he ever did at Kentucky was win and he has two championship rings to prove it.
Agreed Turner was a WINNER. Check the stats. Winning trumps all the metrics.

The same Sean Sutton that is the record holder for the best 3 point percentage in Okie State history? And the same Sean Sutton that would sit 5th all time at UK, just below Travis Ford?

He has a nice shot? If you are talking about form, I agree. If you are talking about results, I have to differ. But, it is easier to change results, when the form is there. I just hope he has the ambition to shoot about 10,000 extra shots between now and tournament time, to get the results to equal the form. If he can, he will be in the NBA. If not, I hope he learns to speak Lithuanian.

Ashton Hagans is as poor of a shooter than anyone we’ve ever had. That’s gonna hurt the team because he doesn’t really need to be defended..... especially beyond the arc.

I gotta admit, I don't even know if 62% shooting at the rim is good, bad , average?

Agreed. Hagans next.
You could add Dickie Beal to that list for his first couple of seasons. Never saw such an awkward jump shot during his first two years but I have to give him credit because he worked during the off seasons and his shooting percentage increased dramatically.

Wayne may not have had a natural position, but he was a winner and didn't cause harm. My vote is Archie (if he was considered a 2). Second place has to go to the worst passing guard I've ever seen on any level, Nick Young.
Wasn’t it Dykes who called young a great passer, then he threw like 3 straight possessions away?

Hagans can’t hit layups either so I am putting him behind rondo. Rondo was actually known to dunk a few in traffic. Has hagans had a contested dunk here? He has at least a couple inches on Rondo too

I am old enough to remember teams simply leaving Roger Harden alone at the foul line. We've had a number of points that simply couldn't shoot very well. You'd have to think the way the game is changing that's a dying breed.....
Roger Harden could shoot lights out and bury it from anywhere... played against him and he couldn’t be stopped! He just wasn’t allowed to shoot at UK because he was passing the ball to one of my favorite players ever Kenny Sky Walker! Ask Kenny about Roger....

Wayne Turners shot obviously looked bad....
However, he made a really good percentage of his shots... Wayne was a Maker not a Shooter!

Yep, the reason why defenses lagged off our guards during that early to mid-80s era was because of the way Joe B. Hall coached, not because our guards couldn't shoot.

Hall was so intent on always trying to pound the ball inside to the bigs, and so reluctant to let guards shoot, that defenses figured it out and packed the lane with the tightest zones you'll ever see.

It was interesting how much better all three of our guards, Harden, Davender and Blackmon, instantly looked during that 86 season when we switched from Hall to Sutton (especially Harden, who had a tremendous senior season). The change of system did wonders for them.

The kid that was at Florida a few years ago. Can’t remember the name but we recruited him pretty hard. Was around the time of the twins. He couldn’t shoot at all
