With the way this UK team plays one can understand the frustration fans are feeling. This team breaks all the cardinal rules of basic basketball when it comes to ball handling, defense, shooting, and rebounding. They look and play like a group of guys who came together at the" Y" for a friendly game of hoops.

Don’t you dare say that!! The sunshine pumpers here will have you scolded and reprimanded! How dare you say a negative word about Kentucky.

It does take a lot of intestinal fortitude to be negative about performance of this team or Calipari. The "true fan" recently joined and hysterical will attack, or worse, bore you with their opinions and chest beating loyalty.

It's easy to see talent on this team but, while one and done isn't their forte, neither is Cal's handling of them. Maybe this year will be the learning experience for both.

Right now it seems there is a minor "perfect storm" where no one is on key.

Yep. Like they could use some coaching.

Long time lurker. But all I keep reading are complaints. I gotta say something.

This is NOT a good basketball team. I'm being brutally honest here. We can cry all we want about the officials, and yes they are terrible.

But this team has losses to Evansville @Rupp. Utah, Ohio St and South Carolina! Auburn is probably our only so called good loss. This team can't build a lead and hold a lead to save their lives.

We have three talented guards. And Richards. That's literally it. Damn the officiating. This team isn't special. There is no P.J or Herro. It's just an above average team.
When are you going to be honest and admit you are a troll?

At this point, I have a real hard time seeing this team beyond the sweet 16. Too many turnovers from our guards, Not enough muscle on our front line, an inconsistent/non existent bench, and an inability to stay between their man and the basket. There is a reason we have foul trouble and Cal has had to utilize the zone more than ever this year. These weaknesses fluctuate in severity between wins/losses but they are consistently present this year.
But the most glaring weakness of all that will keep this team from greatness is that they appear (up to this point) to lack any signs of becoming "basketball assassins". By that--- I mean the type of team that will take their foot, put it on your neck, and grind it into the hardwood without any sign of emotion. The great teams have that killer instinct and I have yet to see it demonstrated in this group. That is why we can't ever seem to hold a lead, put teams away or crush the will of our opponents no matter how good or bad they are.
I'm hopeful they can correct these deficiencies by the tournament but won't be shocked if they don't.

But the good thing is nobody else is very good either. Means we can BEAT anyone and Lose to anyone. We just want a level playing field when it comes to the Officials. Just be Consistent!!

This. We're only a good team. Good news there are no great teams. If we get even officiating, our chances are as good as any.

Should be a wild tourney

There are no great teams to BBN because most of you have been brainwashed into thinking one and done star power = great team.

Gonzaga, UL, Baylor, KU , and Duke are this year's great teams.
Well we beat a great team loserville in your eyes and that great team beat another great team in your eyes, Duke that beat another one of your great teams, Kansas.
So I guess we have as good of a chance as anyone in March!

I'm seeing people thinking we are championship contenders. Even in a weak year. We aren't close imo.

Maybe Cal has a tweak up his sleeve. But not much you can do when our bench is so useless.
Since you just started posting, and you seem to be so downtrodden, give up. Wait till next year or maybe follow a team that you feel has a chance to win. I recognize our weaknesses but I feel there is time to correct or minimize those inefficiencies. I do not like losing at all but I have been a follower of UK basketball since just before I was born. While disappointment creeps in from time to time, I also get ready for the next game and then the next one etc. I wont give up until we lose the last game. It seems you just got on here to whine and look at the dark side.

Just speaking the truth, not living in a fantasy land where I make myself believe we have a good team. Cal needs to do better, period. Guess you (and many like you) were happy tubbys last few years too?
Big difference in Tubbys last years and now. That is like comparing your posts with a UK fans posts.

unfortunately no....... we have 0% chance because at some point in the NCAAT , we're gonna get officiating like we did last night. They wont let Cal win another title.

This team has improved a great deal. They went on the road against a Top 15 team and lost a close game. Auburn shot 40+ FT's and Hagans played 20 minutes.

This isn't Cals best team or his worst team and it has deficiencies. However you said it in your post OP...3 good guards and Richards, that cannot be discounted.

We will need timely shots and consistency in tournament, no doubt, but the above is more than enough to carry us deep in tournament especially this year.
when your point guard turns the ball 4-6 times a game unforced. not going to far

It’s a good thing the players aren’t pansy quitters like some of the Nancy boy fans.
no the big guys disappear when the other team gets physical with them. guards who are out of control and don't seam to learn from mistakes. having a realistic view don't = pansy just wonder if you would be calling names face to face.

Yeah he needs to play better. TO's have jumped quite a bit in conference play.

Everything I am saying is requiring us to play A game. Going to be time to bring it.

4-2 in our last 6 and 8-4 in our last 12.

This isn’t a very good team at all.

There is a minimum (IMO) of 3-4 more losses coming before the NCAAT so this will be a 24-9 type team heading into the tourney as a 5-7 seed.

The answer is NO. That is all Bassfan does on here, belittle, harass, insult and name call. Never adds anything to a discussion without hurling insults.

OHS is freakin #20 NET. SC is now a Quad 1 loss after they have won 5 out of their last 6 including wins over us and @ARK. AUB was the favorite and shot F-ing 44 FTs. They made 9 more than we attempted LMFAO. We have 2 losses that aren't Quad 1, Utah Quad 2 and a bad loss to Evansville the 3rd game of the year with EJ out and banged up. Since this team has gotten healthy and Quickly and Nick have stepped up we are 8-2 in our last 10 which is as good as most of the country with the teams we have played. We are as good as anyone else in the country on any given night with a fair whistle. I guarantee we blow AUB out at Rupp. Maybe like last year 20+ points.

Our guards as a collective aren't even that good right now. IQ's play is up, but Maxey is volatile and Hagans has lost his mind over the last few weeks.

We need to see a large shift from Cal's historic preferences in style of play to make this team successful. The pieces aren't there to succeed by using his usual formula. We absolutely will need to be a better shooting team than past Cal teams.

We are 4-2 in our last 6 games and 8-4 in our last 12. There are 14 teams who have lost 4 or less games the entire season.

Shut up with the “as good as anyone in the country” nonsense. It’s stupid and makes you look foolish.

There are teams that are getting better as the season progresses...We are not trending that way.

What’s disheartening is that in a year where the field has weakened, we have one of Cal’s worse teams. That’s all on recruiting.

This team has glaring weaknesses but several teams do as well. I’m just not convinced we can sustain great play for more than a couple of games. We’ll see soon enough.

I think we have to put the talent in perspective. The good thing is that this is Cal’s best collection of experienced players, but they are not super talented. They are the types of guys who stay 4 years at programs like Nova and Va. And this Frosh class is the least talented/ready that Cal has recruited here. You could argue Cal is getting the most out of these guys. They just have limitations.

Ideally you would see all of these guys back, bring in a couple of studs (Boston, TC) and you have the type of team Cal needs to legitimately compete for a title.

Man, oh man some of y'all need to calm down lol. Getting attacked because I spoke some truth.

I never said this was a terrible team. It's a solid team. But do I feel they are capable of making a deep run? Hell no. Do I hope I'm wrong? Hell yes.

Now it is still early, I don't doubt Cal can get them to another level. But this team to me is just slightly better then the 15-16 team.

They can beat any team in the country sure. I agree with that. Could they rattle off six or seven in a row. No. We aren't deep enough and if we run into a good three point shooting team that has an above average night. We are toast.

Exactly it’s all relative. Personally I don’t think UK is all that great. They just aren’t great defensively or offensively. I think Kansas is one of the best teams but we could literally lose to anyone. The field just isn’t that strong. Just about anyone can get hot at the right time.

No sense in freaking out all season because most of the teams will have more ups and downs than a usual national championship team.
Kentucky is better than Kansas.
