We are 4-2 in our last 6 games and 8-4 in our last 12. There are 14 teams who have lost 4 or less games the entire season.

Shut up with the “as good as anyone in the country” nonsense. It’s stupid and makes you look foolish.

Actually, YOU look foolish for predicting 10+ losses.

Utah and Evansville are horrendous teams that even a mediocre Cal team used to beat by 15+

Right now it looks like this is going to be a really bad season for UK. 10+ losses and maybe a second round NCAA appearance.

it’s a shame and why I continue to say the blown chances Cal had in 10, 11, 14, and 15 will haunt his legacy as an all time great.

This UK team just sucks to watch.

Don’t jump on the band wagon in March.

The biggest crybabies are the loudest, most obnoxious A-holes when we win. Not here, but out at the malls, to their U of L friends, etc. Nothing worse than a bi-polar fan and we have LOTS of them.

The problem yesterday in addition to rebounding and fouls was the lack of any transition baskets. The Cats in the half court are actually average at best.
I think Auburn would have been happy to get into a transition game yesterday and we would have been better off to try and force one.I think we(Cal) need to tweak toward a transition game from this point forward.

Why do you passionately attack anyone that is positive about our team and are nowhere to be found when we win games? Seem pretty wimpy.

because it makes our fanbase look stupid and uninformed

for someone to say and honestly believe that UK is as good as anyone is silly. We have lost four of our last 12 games, 14 teams have lost less on the entire season. All of our metrics show us in the mid to late 20s or 30s, it’s just a fact that we are not as good as anyone else right now.

I hope we turn it around like 2014 and become a great team, as of now we’re just an average Basketball team. That’s why we’re looking at a five or six seed in the tournament

Where are those 5+ losses you see coming from? I mean, you said looks like we'd lose 10+. Didn't you do the same thing last year only to look like an idiot in the end? You say stupid, uninformed stuff all the time. You say so many dumb things that it can't be kept up with and then you sweep your idiot comments under the rug. Hypocrisy is ugly.

Yep you get it. People thinking we can just morph into the 2014 team. Listen, we don't have a Julius Randle for one. We don't have a deep bench. Unless E.J starts jumping over people for put backs like Marcus Lee. And we needed alot of back breaking shots from Aaron.

That team was always loaded. It just took them tilll the end to figure it out and with some good fortune and timely shots and gutsy plays they almost shocked the world.

Long time lurker. But all I keep reading are complaints. I gotta say something.

This is NOT a good basketball team. I'm being brutally honest here. We can cry all we want about the officials, and yes they are terrible.

But this team has losses to Evansville @Rupp. Utah, Ohio St and South Carolina! Auburn is probably our only so called good loss. This team can't build a lead and hold a lead to save their lives.

We have three talented guards. And Richards. That's literally it. Damn the officiating. This team isn't special. There is no P.J or Herro. It's just an above average team.

Also, let's be honest. 14 of the Top 25 lost this week. Our loss being on the road and to a ranked opponent was one of if not the best lost as so many lost at home to unranked opponents. The majority at least lost to unranked opponents. That's the kind of year we are in and that's not even getting into the 44 FTs and the BS.

More Top 10 and Top 25 teams have lost to unranked opponents this year than ever and we still have aways to go.

Does he really "get it"? He predicted double digit losses last year, didn't learn from his nonsense and did it again this year. He's by far the worst poster here, and that's saying A LOT.

Reading the posts from some of the fans do make me wonder if they get any pleasure out of watching this team at all! They seem so unhappy.Look it's obvious this isn't Cal's best team ever but we don't have North Carolina's record.Bad refs and two players playing well and we came close to winning at a very tough road game.Let's wait and see how we play from now on.

this. There’s not a team in the country that is head and shoulders above the rest. I’ve seen too many Kentucky teams look sloppy in the first half of conference play and then find a groove later on. I won’t hit the panic button until we start dropping games to the bottom half of the league in the next few weeks. Otherwise we’re a talented team with probably the SEC player of the year. We good guys.
I'm starting to think Baylor may be above everyone else . Their only loss was at the beginning of the season , they won at Kansas which is almost impossible to do with the way the refs protect Kansas at home . They may actually be the real deal .

If you are going to list the Ls then list the big wins too:
v #1 Mich St in NY
v #3 UL
at Arkansas
at #18 Texas Tech

This team has played a tough schedule since mid Dec.

Gets a bit easier now too:

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/schedule/_/id/96
Easier schedule equals fewer opportunities to get pile up quality wins. This is going to hurt when it comes time to seed teams in the tournament.

Our SOS is 79th in the country. The only power five schools with easier schedules are Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Stanford, Notre Dame, Washington State and Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech also beat that overrated Michigan State team this season.

Not sure who thought it was a great idea to play so many terrible nonconference teams.

I still have some hope that we can get some things corrected, but I agree with you and I really think Coach Cal knows it too. The "handwriting" is on the wall--this team is not very good (thankfully not many others are really good either) and the outlook for February and March is not good. If Kentucky were a stock, I wouldn't buy it. It's just our super bad luck that Whitney was a complete bust. To be rated 12th as a McD's AA and do essentially NOTHING is about as bad as it gets. Some of our kids didn't obviously work hard enough in the off season.

The one-and-done or even two-and-done scenarios work only if you can get legit players to fill spots. This freshman class not that capable, period. Montgomery another who is either underachieving or is just not explosive and capable enough to do what we need. We keep getting these five-star guys who don't play anywhere near five stars! At the very first sign of success, they leave. Gabriel should have stayed another year. What has Keldon done this year for the Spurs? He was a good candidate to stay--was VERY lucky to be drafted at 29 in the guaranteed money. The list is growing and getting pretty long, and that part is a source of major frustration when we sit here and limp along.

Part of our recent problems is, in fact, a recruiting problem. We identify kids who are of great character and who we think will work at a place like this. That's all fine, yet we don't actively recruit enough kids. It's damn near criminal to have a rotation this short--practices are impacted, games are impacted, injuries are magnified, and you diminish you margin for error. We are a Hagans or Richards injury away from a complete breakdown of this season. It would be much akin to what we now are seeing with the women's team after the injury to Rhyne Howard.

Can you tell my patience is running a bit thin? One and done is fine if it is legitimate, but we've had too many leave early (hence, the factory effect) without a good shot at continuing on in the NBA. Even the Harrisons could have benefited from a third year. Not good for us, not really good for them.

For this team to be a "player" this year in any kind of deep tournament run, they must improve in every facet of the game. Not some. All of it. We cannot sit here and blame the referees every night out. We are a fouling machine. That crappy defense needs to improve--get your fanny down and in a stance and guard somebody for God's sakes. At least act like you want to win and compete all 40 minutes. We've had some really good moments, but we have to stiffen up, toughen up, and get this scheisse corrected.

Exactly it’s all relative. Personally I don’t think UK is all that great. They just aren’t great defensively or offensively. I think Kansas is one of the best teams but we could literally lose to anyone. The field just isn’t that strong. Just about anyone can get hot at the right time.

No sense in freaking out all season because most of the teams will have more ups and downs than a usual national championship team.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Kansas could lose to anyone. All three of their losses are to good teams. And two of them were by a combined 3 points.

Anyway... bottom line. This is a solid team, but not great. Will they improve. Yes. Do I think they can win it all. No.

Doesn't mean I'm giving up on them. It's called being objective. But I'm not getting my hope's up with this squad because they seem very limited. I hope I'm wrong.

PJ and Hero got beat in Elite 8 damn couldn't you have used Davis and MKG?

Man.... that was a really good team though. It should have been a final four team at the very least if not more then that, if they kept the pedal down and finished off Auburn like they did at Rupp.

Smh. But I chose them because this current team has plenty of returnees from that team. But I would not say we have a P.J or a Herro.

This team goes as Quickley and Hagans go. Especially Hagans. Which to me explains the loss this year to Auburn.

It really bothers me is the lack of toughness. Sometimes Ashton and a few of the others just let go of the rope. If I am a team and I want to beat Kentucky just play physical, put your head down and drive to the basket. All you have to do.

I just think it’s gonna be really hard to trust Ashton when they go and gets tough. He has the ability to be a really good point guard. He just seems like he loses focus so easy and makes really really bad plays. Sometimes he plays a lot of “me” Ball.

What are your thoughts on Hagans? Does his lack of focus bother you? I’ve never seen a starting point guard at a blue blood make so many terrible plays. I think he’s a tough kid and has the ability to be fantastic. Just not sure why he’s having all these mental breakdowns.

I love Ashtons grit. He has made some outstanding game saving defensive plays. The problem is Hagans isn't as good on the offensive end. Lately he's been turnover prone and taking bad shots.

Particularly against Auburn he was just throwing up wild layups and making bad decisions. He's gotta be our rock.

Wait a minute—has ANY UK fan all year said they expect a championship?

I hope not. Bc even at the start of the year with the high ranking every fan I spoke with were still u certain what this team would be like.

I don’t think there is any question this team has it’s issues and limitations. Conversely, I also believe that if things line up properly, this teams without question can make a run in the tourney.

Which honestly, I am ok with as far as expectations. I will be happy this year with the parity and the up and down nature of this group to make a Final Four. I think that would be a great job by Cal. More realistic guess would be Elite 8 or so.

But I am not one of those who would call it a failure if that happens. Cal tried his *** off to get multiple additional elite players and bigs. Just wasn’t able to reel them in which happens in the recruiting game. Honestly, doesn’t happen nearly as much to Cal as everyone else tho so can’t begrudge the guy for it I don’t think.

The team that appears to be lining up for next year is one I am infinitely more excited about making a run tho. Nothing for sure of course u til we see who comes back and how the team actually looks. But all signs at this point hearken back to some of Cal’s earlier stacked teams.

What’s frustrating about this team is they have the physical ability to be really really good. A lot of times it just comes down to poor judgment , Lack of focus, and just plain toughness. Sometimes when the game is physical they tend to buckle. Those are fixable issues. I do think coach can address these issues and try to help the guys understand that they can never take a play off. Always have to be playing hard every possession.

the OP is correct. the one thing that works in our favor is this: In basketball, the BEST team does NOT always win. There have been years that UK should have walked to a coronation, and instead watched the FF on TV. LUCK is a huge factor, underestimated in my opinion, by the majority of posters here. Great teams don't always win it, but lucky teams always do. UK has a long history of BAD luck, but things do have a way of evening out. NOBODY out there is unbeatable. Let us hope that the "Kentucky effect" IS real
