This is NOT a good basketball team. I'm being brutally honest here. We can cry all we want about the officials, and yes they are terrible.

But this team has losses to Evansville @Rupp. Utah, Ohio St and South Carolina! Auburn is probably our only so called good loss. This team can't build a lead and hold a lead to save their lives.

We have three talented guards. And Richards. That's literally it. Damn the officiating. This team isn't special. There is no P.J or Herro. It's just an above average team.

This team has improved a great deal. They went on the road against a Top 15 team and lost a close game. Auburn shot 40+ FT's and Hagans played 20 minutes.

This isn't Cals best team or his worst team and it has deficiencies. However you said it in your post OP...3 good guards and Richards, that cannot be discounted.

We will need timely shots and consistency in tournament, no doubt, but the above is more than enough to carry us deep in tournament especially this year.

On a positive side we have been in the game with a chance to win in all our losses to the good teams we have played. There are no super star studded teams out there this year imo. So that being said. Get a favorable draw close to home. Get by the first 3 games. Then play out of your mind for 3 games. It can be done. I really think we can play with anyone.

Road games against ranked teams are tough. UK played Auburn to the wire and has way more upside. The posts have many important statements. We have good guards plus Nick. Cal needs a tweak and step up from Sestina and Ej to fill the 4 and rest Nick at at 5. Need Brrooks and Juzang to at least contribute as 7 and 8 guys in the rotation. There are no Elite Teams this year. UK will be as good as any but no team looks like they can win 6 in a row vs. Tourney competition. Only 1 team will. It will be EJ who needs to be the March surprise. Last year Reid filled the PF gap. Have not dine that yet this year.

We aren't quite as bad as some are making us out to be. Maybe I'm growing older or more cynical, but I don't really see anyone that's amazing out there. Yesterday, three big east teams that were supposed to be pretty good got waxed at home.

Whats fantasy about our big wins, playing a tough schedule since mid Dec and playing 5 of the last 8 on the road with 2 of those 5 v teams ranked nationally in the top 18 and yet still managed to go 6-2 during that stretch and are 16-5 overall?

Make no mistake about it, this team is good, tough and battle tested and will continue to be with ranked teams at LSU and Auburn still on the schedule.

We must stay healthy and stay the course while peaking in the post season.

this. There’s not a team in the country that is head and shoulders above the rest. I’ve seen too many Kentucky teams look sloppy in the first half of conference play and then find a groove later on. I won’t hit the panic button until we start dropping games to the bottom half of the league in the next few weeks. Otherwise we’re a talented team with probably the SEC player of the year. Thing is, It is what it is! We have who we have and we got to go with it. What should they do, Give Up? I may agree with you if the tournament started today, but we have another month to get things fixed! I believe Cal can get more done in less time than any coach in the country so we’ll be better by then anyway!

I understand everyone having doubts and we’ve definitely had a weird season, We do still have some time to change things for the better though. I just don’t see any team in the country and think if we’re playing our best that we don’t have a chance to win!! Who knows, we may hear Monday that they’re all going to just try again next year and forfeit the rest of the season!! Until I hear that, I’ve got to think they’ll fight and get back to work. Who recruited and coaches these guys/team ? They are ALL a part of a t5 recruiting classes. How many of the teams that have beaten us have that?

Exactly it’s all relative. Personally I don’t think UK is all that great. They just aren’t great defensively or offensively. I think Kansas is one of the best teams but we could literally lose to anyone. The field just isn’t that strong. Just about anyone can get hot at the right time.

No sense in freaking out all season because most of the teams will have more ups and downs than a usual national championship team.

You usually go as your point guard goes. We have 1 point guard who can’t keep his head in the game but about 1 out of every 3 games. Commits way too many turnovers, many that are momentum killers. How many times does Hagans drive with nowhere to go, then leave his feet and pass to the other team or out of bounds? At least 2-3 times per game. Seems to be getting worse. But our illustrious coach has not recruited a good backup point guard so Hagans gets to stay in the game. Why is there no backup? Oh that’s right, Cal has to leave some schollies open for the next great freshman coming in next year so he can get them to the NBA. Lather, rinse, repeat. The lack of depth and piss poor play is on Cal. We need to be two deep at every position. He refuses to adjust recruiting or style of play. This team has no shot at a title. Hell we can’t even win the SEC regular season title anymore. Done

Sitting around this season waiting for EJ Montgomery to do anything is a complete waste of time. He’s horrible, I’m not even sure he’s a D1 level player. Tallest guy on the floor, he’s lazy on defense, won’t rebound, we say we have 8 guys? We have 3 1/2 guys and 4 1/2 bodies. No consistency except poor defense, lazy fouls and a lack of rebounding. We do have some great wins, but we also have some terrible losses. Yesterday’s game and losing was not unexpected. The way we lost however I thought we had gotten past that. Refs are no help but when you hand check a guy right in front of the ref or you go over the back, reach out instead of moving your feet, you invite the foul calls. Go look at the film again. We could have been called for another 10 fouls. Not a terrible team but I’ve seen a lot better this year. We need a complete roster of players.
