OP is the absolute worse poster on both forums EVER! I know he can't help it, bless his heart, but he's as ignorant & annoying as he could be.
We all know this is just a set up by Mr. Nets.
Here's how it goes:
1) Proclaim this the best backcourt in UK history (might be)
2) Raise expectations above what most UK fans have right now
3) If UK loses, "Cal can't coach! He had the best backcourt ever! Pitino would have went undefeated!"
4) If UK wins, "Cal has only won 2 titles because he had the best player and best backcourt in UK history. He needs AT LEAST 2 more titles to have succeeded here"

Absolutely right. You would think he'd try to make it just a little less obvious. Maybe he thinks he is being sneaky.
As previously mentioned, not sure about UK this year bc of our frontline being so up and down. It is a dangerous proposition to rely to heavily on guard play in the tourney. It can reap rewards if on a hot streak or can backfire if having a cold shooting night.
Not placing too much hope this year on a Final 4. Although would love to see it. Best guess is we are sweet 16 elite 8 territory. Our bigs have just been too overmatched all year. But, the wonderful part of the tourney is that with a favorable draw or a couple timely upsets we could absolutely go all the way. Esp if TU and Jamal just catch fire and get on a roll.
I think that is reasonable. Obviously, a bad match-up or a bad game like we had in 09-10 against WV could derail that but otherwise I think we make some noise; should be interesting.
@CUTNETS I've asked you this a few times and of course you won't respond. But you constantly gripe about the one and done. So here's your chance – we have six potentially great recruits coming in next year that all could be one and done. I need to understand from you who are the three scholarships you will revoke and who are the three players you're going to replace them with?

I dunno, coach k had 5 eventual lottery picks, not just draft...lottery, on his 99 team and they didn't win the final four. I know you want to see uk lose because you think it's a blow to Cal when he has good players.
I expect that if we fail to win a title, the usual suspects will be on here bashing Cal for not being able to coach.
Yes, and without them playing at a very high level we would be mediocre at best. Is that the answer you are looking for?
I personally have been watching UK basketball since the Runts and this is as good a backcourt tandem I have seen and maybe the best I have seen. Does that mean we should be a final 4 team? No, but with them we have a chance.

The only reason you started this thread is to lay your ground work, hoping the team can't meet the lofty expectations, trying to set Cal up for failure, so if by some chance the team does come up short, you can come on here and get your rocks off, carrying on about how Cal isn't a great coach.

sounds like you are setting UK up for failure then. We are a 4 seed right now and to expect to beat the #1 seed in the sweet 16 isn't wise. I mean we could beat anyone this year but we can also lose to anyone
Maybe that was an expectation at the beginning of the year when we were hoping skal and briscoe were as advertised but by the very nature of tournament seeding, a 4 seed going to the elite 8 is over achieving, not meeting expectation

give us Uconn / Duke officiating and I'd bet on at least an elite 8. But we will never get the bail out calls those teams get. Which means our back court will have to shoot incredibly well in the tournament to carry the team if our front court keeps being inconsistent
No. Guards and guards alone do not win in the tournament. Some of you are taking this "guards win in the tournament" saying way out of context.
The guards still need some help. They need at least a serviceable front court. Do you some of not realize just how bad UK's front court has been this year?
If Lee, Skal, Poy and Humphries all decided to disappear like they so often have; playing soft defense, not scoring, not rebounding, fouling out with 8-10 minutes left in the game etc... then it's not going to matter how great the guards are or how great a coach Cal is.
