As impressive as Jay Wright winning 2 of the last 3 Championships at Villanova is, I have a feeling that a lot of people on here that are raving about him now would have been calling for his head before he'd gotten that first title had he been the coach at UK. Not to take away from his accomplishments, but could you imagine the outrage on this board had the coach at Kentucky not made it past the Round of 32 in 7 of the last 9 seasons.

We need a coach committed to the college, developing a program, and keeping kids in school. Jay Wright at a place with the history of UK would put us back at the top.

I do feel the 1&D is over. There are many years where there should not be a 1&D, but Cal does not have that belief. We need to get ahead of it and make a change.
Another trash Cal, replace Cal dumb post. What is your main malfunction? Jay Wright is a good coach. If you look up his teams NCAA history, I think you might just change your tune. Cal forever Wright never ever ever never ever. I would like to see all of the posters that are always starting post about replacing Cal get together and just post among themselves and leave the rest of us alone. I don't think the one and D will ever be over. It will always be a part of our recruiting strategy, unless the NBA rules changes and all of the 5 starts decide to go straight to the pros out of hs. Go Aways pretty please. I ask nicely dummy.

Anyone want to appologize or eat some crow?
You should apologize for being on this board. Did you finish grade school? You not only act like a grade school student but you spell like one. You should apologize for not being able to spell apologize.

The good thing about this thread is that it exposes the ungrateful low-information fans who just can't understand how much John Calipari has done, and is doing, for our basketball program. When will these ignorant people learn that the NBA made the OAD rule, and Calipari is just playing the hand he has been dealt?

It’s obvious from the OP and some of the positive replies that this thread received that there will be a certain group of UK fans that will never be happy.

Coach Cal will eventually retire- I predict a lot of the same folks who are bashing him will be the ones complaining when the program slips some after he retires.

You can't say Jay Wright is (or is not) committed to keeping kids in school, nor is any more "committed to the college or developing a program" than Cal is. All you can say is that he has not been successful at signing the top players. Before Cal came to UK I think he had had only 1 OAD player. Being the coach at UK (or Duke, or UNC) gives you more options. After the past 3 years, maybe now Wright will start bringing in some OAD type players, who knows.

The OAD is an NBA rule, not a college rule or a coaches or players decision. It's a stupid rule, and Cal has repeatedly said he doesn't like the rule. Cal was the first to figure out how to use the rule to his advantage. And thus if there is a rule chance, I think he will be an early adapter to whatever recruiting philosophy best follows from the new rule. Maybe Wright will too, there is no way to know. Wright is one of the top coaches, and if/when Cal leaves, should be highly considered. Lets leave it at that!
It's obvious you are one of those who say that Cal pushes kids out the door. Ignoring that several times he has advised kids who thought they were OAD to return (Orton, Lamb, T.Jones, Teague, Goodwin, Poythress, WCS, Harrison twins, Briscoe, Diallo, Washington, Knox, Vanderbilt, Gabriel) because he thought it was in their best interest to return. Some listened, some didn't.
He's only had a few that wanted to return that he told not too. MKG was the prime example, and IMO a good choice. He was not going to learn to shoot. He went #2 overall. Given more time to see that he wasn't going to learn to shoot, he would have slipped further in the draft each year he returned.
