Frost has been in Lincoln for 8 months.....8 months to sell NU to recruits. I think the job his staff has done thus far has been pretty darned good and borders on amazing given that we're coming off a losing season. People need to find something else to worry about. Personally the fact that I can't buy machined parts for anything that aren't made in China scares the hell out of me.... China wouldn't have to go to war with the US. All they would have to do is stop selling us parts. It would totally shut down our economy.

I agree on both points.

If you lose the means of production you lose war fighting capabilities if:

1. There is no other place to source the parts needed.

2.The time you lose in restructuring your production. - This leads to losing other strong points on other fronts...like the Ukraine.

If China becomes an issue, it will be S. Korea, China, and Russia all at once. Not to mention all the satellites Russia has in the mid east, and who knows if China gets backed up by their allies in Africa...

I doubt it comes to that at this juncture. We are too strong yet. They'll bide their time. Our country is a fickle lady when it comes to policy, look for 2050 abouts. This debt we're racking up is nuts. And like you say we don't make anything anymore.

This. Anyone on here who thinks that Frost should be able to start hauling in one four star guy after another is just being flat-out stupid. We have had two losing seasons in the past three years. And sandwiched in the middle of that was on winning season where we got blown out by most teams that mattered. And even if Pelini won at least nine games a year, his teams never won **** that mattered. Callahan years? Lol.

Nebraska's brand is so diminished in the eyes of these 17 year old kids that most of them have very, very little knowledge of any of it. Go read the interview with that kid from Oklahoma that committed to us (not sure of name). He said he had been "taught and brought up to speed" with how important the NU-OU game was at one time. Yikes. Let that sink in.

Add in the fact that all of these kids think of Nebraska as one giant cornfield with millions of cow pies mixed in. Add to that the fact that for academically gifted kids NU is no big draw. And believe it or not, that actually matters to more of these recruits than you might think.

We have to start winning again. And that requires building a culture and a system and a mentality. That is why I believe in Frost. I think he gets it.

I am totally happy with our recruiting to this point.

Hey, there's soybeans and alfalfa being grown as well!:D

I would add we are coming off of two losing seasons in three years, with the one winning season ending with some horrible blowout losses that exposed us as paper tigers with an easy early season schedule. We had no "identity" as a program other than the fact that we used to be really good 20 years ago and lots of people come to our games.

I simply do not understand the angst of some on here over this year's recruiting. My goodness, we are rated the 25th best class with some of our recruits most likely going to get a boost in stars and with 9 or 10 more offers to be made. Are we going to end in the top ten or top fifteen? I highly doubt it. But I predict we will be a top 20 class (closer to 15 than to 20) by the time the dust settles. But to read some of the complaints on here you would think we have a roster loaded with 2 star guys.

Second this, Pennsy.

Not if China shuts off our supply of repair parts for our ag equipment. With just in time inventory, there isn't enough parts to keep equipment running for an entire season.Winking

There's just no killing the mentality for some of you that nobody would ever love Nebraska until they start racking trophies again. By that logic, wtf are the current 4* kids doing here?

There has not been a single recruit who has taken an official visit to Nebraska since Frost took over as head coach. We had none available because Riley's staff used all the allotted visits.

Frost and company have signed 11 four star players, without having the ability to use the best weapon in Nebraska's recruiting arsenal. Let that sink in.

EDIT: I stand corrected. We did have some official visitors in January following Frost's hire...Still no game day official visits obviously.

While I’m not worried about this staffs ability to recruit, I don’t think this is true. There was a crap ton of official visits after Frost was hired.

You are correct. I could have sworn I read that we ran out of official visits. Still pretty amazing that he's done that without any of those guys being on campus for an actual game day official visit.

Below is what caused my confusion. No official visits this spring. Which means this current class is made up of guys who have not taken official visits to Nebraska. So Frost has been working against some teams who have had official visits available and have been using them throughout the spring.

https://www.landof10.com/nebraska/nebraska-recruiting-spring-game-visitors-basketball-nit-tournament

"Nebraska coach Scott Frost mentioned last week that there would be no official visits this spring. But, if you’re a dedicated reader of this mailbag, you already knew the answer.

Each year, college football programs are allowed to host 56 official visits. However, schools can roll up to 12 unused visits into the next season, and the Huskers had 68 to work with in the 2018 recruiting class. Between Mike Riley’s recruiting efforts and those of Frost, Nebraska has hosted 66 official visitors. That leaves room for just two official visitors between now and August, when the number resets back to 56 for all programs (plus however many a team can roll over into the next cycle). Since the NCAA has not modified this rule to coincide with high school juniors being able to start taking official visits in the spring, this is a problem for most programs, not just Nebraska.

Nebraska would like to save those remaining two visits on potential transfer prospects who may come across its radar in the spring."
