Again I will say the lack or creativity and originality with trolls these days is truly disappointing. Not long ago it could be difficult to sniff them out but anymore their attempts are so sad and pathetic that my 9 year old can tell which ones are the trolls.

Not a troll, I got pulled into this argument saying that I think everyone cheats (mainly because the NCAA has outdated rules).

Everyone assumes I am defending North Carolina, which I am not. I am trying to figure out why people believe certain things but don't have the proof to back it up. This is why Russian Trolls can go on Facebook and mess with our political system. A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest. You are right, I could do the research but I figured since everyone is so sure that North Carolina is a diploma factory, they could easily point to the report that states that fact or, in essence, states that fact.

Mine is a statement of belief, the diploma mill comment is being thrown out as a fact. If my statements earlier made it seem like I was throwing out fact, I apologize. It would be impossible to prove anyway. My hope is the NCAA doesn't exist in years and that shoe companies only provide gear to schools and don't throw millions of dollars around. That may be a naive hope but I hope none-the-less.

This is bigger than this discussion. So many people throw out these "facts" then don't have the proof to back it up but if you repeat garbage information enough, it become "fact" to too many people. There is no disputing that North Carolina had athletic and academic issues. But the term diploma mill is being thrown around.
The definition of diploma mill is, "an organization that awards academic degrees and diplomas with substandard or no academic study and without academic approval by officially recognized educational accrediting bodies or qualified government agencies" All I have heard is that SACS put North Carolina on probation. Where is the proof of the diploma mill claim. When someone can throw out this kind of hyperbole as fact and everyone simply believes the hyperbole, that is extremely dangerous for this country, IMO.

So, then, are you saying that Cal/UK cheated by using an ineligible player but it will be up to the NCAA to determine if UK should vacate?

I hadn't really heard of SACs before but my guess is that others have been on probation. The definition I showed does not describe North Carolina and my sense is you know it. If not, show me how it fits the definition. If SACs is reviewing them, then there is "an officiallay recognized educational accrediting body". It is tough to have a discussion with someone who can't be objective. Please focus on your family member. Don't worry about your research and the proof you can show.
