So, if you think that UNC is mediocre, what do you think about UK?
Was UK recently or even ever on academic probation? UNC should hang a banner.
So, if you think that UNC is mediocre, what do you think about UK?
Add me to the list of diehard UK fans that live in NC who will be THRILLED if my daughters can qualify for entrance to UNC. There's a very bold line between supporting a team for athletics and insuring a financially secure future for your children.Actually, as a hiring manager that works within 20 miles from UNC for the past 20+ years, AND as a father that will be sending my kid to college in 2 years and can get in-state tuition to both UK and UNC, I'm pretty sure I'm more knowledgeable on the subject than you.
It is when the school is mediocre academically. If a UNC grad is the best they can find, they need a new HR team or higher standards.
I really hope that some of you are kidding when talking about not hiring or reviewing resumes of a potential candidate based on them graduating from a rival school....but I cringe when I think some of you probably aren't.

John Wall, Bam and I’m sure there are other players who would be some of those thousands. You do know there are 100's, probably a couple thousand, of us UK fans in NC.
Actually UNC is a corrupt school (including the coaches, president and administration), one of the most corrupt state schools in the country.

There I fixed it for you.
I don't disagree with that. UNCheat "cheated" and then lawyered up and played "chicken" with the NCAA (who turned away and lost).
But UNC is still a good academic school. Now stop making me defend those cheating bastards!
I am curious as well. What company attracts 2 million applicants a year? I bet I could advertise I am giving away $50 to anyone that will sit down and spend an hour filling out an online application for their dream job, and still not have 2 million do it.The real question is where do you work

Just give in and quit defending them. If they are willing to sacrifice their academic integrity for sports they are not a good academic school.
But they are regarded as one of the top public schools in the country. You realize graduating with a degree from UNC as a non-athlete holds more weight than a UK one right?
You realize they are a school who was put on probation by SAC's for their academic lack of integrity right??
For athletes yes, not for regular students.
I don't know you keep mentioning athletics. It's not that hard to understand I'm saying non athletes UNC is head and shoulders above Kentucky academically.
I'd love to hear an argument with facts as evidence as to why Kentucky is a better academic school
Your dad must be very proud. My dad called me today to ask me to help a friend's son get into the company I work at (we get 2 million applicants a year).
Me: "Sure thing - where did he graduate from?"
Dad: "Chapel Hill"
Me: "lolololololol. We don't need any more janitors at the moment"
Dad: "What?"
Me: "We don't hire from schools that have fake classes"
Needless to say it's a very good family friend - but there's no way in hell I'm recommending this kid. Dad is insistent and wants me to talk to him....... I want to absolutely blast him..... but will burn a bridge if I do.
Wasn't UNCheat's whole argument and the reason they got away with it because it wasn't limited to athletes and that common students took classes too? You can't have the best of both worlds. Either you cheated for athletes or you compromised your academic integrity and are not an elite university because you are willing to let any student take paper classes. They need to decide which it is because it can't be both.
What kinda work do you do?I also hire Duke, UNC, and State fans regularly. It makes for a great atmosphere- they all give each other (and me) sh*t during bball and fball season.
Burn that motherhumper!!!!My dad called me today to ask me to help a friend's son get into the company I work at (we get 2 million applicants a year).

Well for students not in the AFAM department, they weren't included in those paper classes. Im talking UNC is a better academic school than Kentucky, outside of the AFAM program which everyone knows is a joke and only small portion of students took.
Say for example a student in the Kenan-Flagler business school, it's asinine to suggest a degree from there isn't better than from UK.
Chemical R&D for Big PharmaWhat kinda work do you do?
Man, that's harsh, but thanks for the info. My kids are entering junior high, and I wasn't aware of the county by county restrictions.Yep ^.
I live in Wake Co (next to Chapel Hill). And my understanding is that very few Wake Co grads can get into UNC because they have a per county limit in admissions. Although my son is currently in the top 2% of his class, so if he keeps it up UNC might be an option (if he could overlook his dislike of their basketball team/program, I've raised him "right").

I just looked on the UNC website. 46% of North Carolina in-state applicants are admitted. 14% of out-of-state applicants are admitted.Yep ^.

That statistic (admittance rate) is biased. Those % can depend on how many schools you apply to, and how much the cost is after considering scholarships & financial aid. But I do know that here in Wake Co, it is no where near 46%.
Maybe to someone who went there but everyone else knows you have no academic integrity and your school is a sham. NC St fans look down their nose at your school now.
US News and World Report ranking of national universities: (admittedly subjective)Lol to say NC State is a better school than UNC is laughable, even more so than saying UK is better.

UK = #133
UNC = #30
NC State = #81

It's true. NC St hasn't compromised their academic integrity for sports like UNC has and neither has UK.
