I was at the 83 game versus Clifton Community College. 24-11. F UC. They haven't beaten UK since December 1939. Why in the Hell would we schedule them?
I remember the chatter before the game was that Yates might do that...and of course he did. I watched it on TV and it was one of the most frustrating things I've ever seen.It was actually 24-11. It was 11-7 at the half. Maybe you dozed off at the half.![]()
Not using games from the 1940's in my argument though that does not mean wins regardless whenever they took place should be discarded just to make one's argument look more presentable. Just further validates my stance.Pleasantly surprised by the vote outcome. Maybe as a NKY resident I would like to see it more than others.
I will admit I am a Bengals and Reds fan so it would of been nice to see UK playing a local team in my area.
Anyways I will counter for those that say we dominate them it is a small sample size. Not sure using games from the 1940's count. Oh well BBN has spoken![]()
Even though we play Louisville every year, Duke, UNC, Kansas & Michigan State "every few years" doesn't mean fans no longer enjoy still playing them and should all jump on board playing Cincinnati. Those teams except for Louisville are the blue bloods of college basketball, championship contenders practically every year and merit a rivalry with the winningest team in NCAA Basketball history. Like someone else mentioned, perhaps Cincinnati should become the best team in their city before trying to schedule a game with us.Also for those who want to schedule someone rather than UC please name the school.
My list would be.
1. UCONN
2. Villanova
3. UC
4. Arizona
5. Wichita Stage
I'm not counting Duke or Mich St. who we usually play every few years in the tournaments.
I was at that God awful game in 1983 when we beat them in Cincinnati 11-8. Yes you read it right 11-8. That was in basketball not baseball, or football, or hockey. That ******* UC coach Tony Yates just held the ball the whole game. Joe Hall said afterwards that "we will NEVER play them again during the regular season". And we never have.
Also for those who want to schedule someone rather than UC please name the school.
My list would be.

3. UC
4. Arizona
5. Wichita Stage

I was there and it seemed like it was 11-8.sorry, it was 24-11. are you sure you were there?

It would be a good game however, UK does not "need" Xavier either. They are a very good team, a change up in who usually is on the schedule but Kentucky is not scared shitless of anyone. Cal has taken his teams into Kansas, UCLA & North Carolina.Kentucky would have more success at the Cintas Center than Xavier would at Rupp Arena. Rumors of a series with Xavier have come up on KSR.I think a Xavier v UK series would be fun. X is 9-3 vs UC in its last 12 games basically because UC does not guard the perimeter well vs X. X does not "need" UK because the Big East prepares teams very well for March. Guards win in March. The Big East is all about guards. X smoked Maryland and Florida St (both top 15 teams AP) in March last year because of the back court. X beat AZ because the Wildcats were soft inside. UK will never visit Cintas Center. It's a shame. Maybe someday. I will always respect UK's success but I think X would do just fine at Rupp Arena.
