right. cant blame a weak player for poor play. he played as he always does. needed more down the stretch from the players who have the ability.

Guys, stop focusing on any one guy. Lost as a team, just about everyone with knucklehead plays at the end. Geo - crazy passes, turnovers, no box out, foul; MJ - all noted above; McConnell - nutty 3, reaching foul for his 5th; JY threw the ball away in the last minute; RHJ had chance to tie.

Its not like we haven’t seen this before, is anyone really surprised? We play ugly...that’s how we’ve roll. Not a good ending but not unexpected. Sucks but we had a great year, very proud of the team.

Pikiell cut the bench too short in the second half.
I still don't understand why Mathis didn't play more 2 guard this season instead of a wing(3/4).

Id love to go back and watch that lob and almost dunk in slow motion I went from oh my god here we go to how did he miss that?!

the ball did hang a little on the lob I think but Myles was wide open. I know he’s on a bum wheel but dang. He dunks that 9 out of 10 times.

Total disaster at the end which is a shame.

But OP had it right with Myles missed alley oop opening the doors and changing the momentum.

Unfortunately every thing Myles and Geo did in the last 4 minutes were disastrous

As others have said, I do think this might boost the chances that they come back. I hope it does. Need some consolation prize and we can really do some damage if they’re here again (especially with Jones getting more minutes and the possibility of adding Harrar).

Imagine Baker, Jones, Harper, Harrar, Johnson with McConnell, Mulcahy, Omoruyi, Mathis, Mag, etc. off the bench?
We need a reliable ball handler scorer to replace Young and a Yeboah type

Pike has had a hard time figuring out his guard pairings for two years still doesn’t know quite yet. Part of that I think, maybe a big part, is he’s more concerned with how they pair defensively and not really concerned about how they do offensively.

Crazy he missed him there. I think he was worrying that the ball would have bounced back and hit him but as soon as it touches the Houston player he's already out. Right there directly in front of him. Wild he missed
He also could have tried to flip/tap it back in play towards Harper who was a few feet behind him towards his right. My first thought was actually that he had a chance to just save it straight up if he looked to get it to Harper. Not an easy play but the angle didn't appear impossible either.

To be fair, almost everything. Geo did at least have the one drive down the lane and finish with a layup to get us to 60. It was the only made FG in the last 8 FG attempts over the last 4+ minutes. Unfortunately, just wasn't enough.

Key missed opportunities down the stretch:
1. Johnson misses the oop, then, Harper doesn't rotate onto Jarreau (uncontested made 3)
2. McConnell takes and misses an ill-advised three after running down the clock
3. We manage to not box out on Grimes' FT, and Grimes gets the ball back to hit a 3
4. Johnson spikes the ball and misses the guy right in front of him on the floor
5. Young passes the ball to no one for a turnover
6. Baker doesn't box out Mark on the putback, and then fouls him for an extra FT
7. Baker loses the handle
8. Harper misses the three

Lots of guys making mistakes in the final 5 minutes.... all while we suddenly decided to start taking the air out of the ball and slowing down the offense to a forced shot with 5 seconds left on the shot clock.

Geo's not coming back. Doubtful Myles does as well. Just my hunch. I think they cemented themselves into RU legacy and why jeopardize it. In the evolution of life, it's time for them to move on with their lives.
