With Reeves committing today its probably very dicey BS comes here now. Gonna guess KU.He cometh
Who on this year's team could guard anybody? Need people that can MAKE SHOTS!Everything about him is Slllooowwww! He is a good shooter, but can he guard? Does he need the ball in his hands to make plays?
All I see is that he can hit an open shot. Call me a skeptic.
That would be the least playing time Cal has ever given a top 10 recruit, by a wide margin. Livingston will play, and play a lot.I doubt Reeves signed up to come off the bench. He's gonna be this years Grady IMO, plays a ton of minutes and starts every game. I would not be surprised to see Livingston end up with a slightly larger role than Bryce Hopkins.
The kid from SDSU is better at creating and with the ball in his hand than reeves is, he can create and playmakeReeves was more likely UK's first choice. AR was more of a need than Scheierman due to the fact that not only is Reeves a shooter, but can facilitate. Baylor is more of a spot-up shooter that would hang around the three-point line waiting for a kick-out or a teammate to collapse the defense.
I don't understand the fact that some on here would have rather got BS than AR, or we are set if he comes. We have got to have guys that can get these guys open by penetrating and kicking it out, or we are just going to have everyone but Oscar standing at the three-point line covered up and not open. Sure you can run plays and have screens being made, but thar only works with a lot of moving parts and other intangibles that have to be correct.
Set shooters are useless without teammates that can find them and relieve the pressure from the defense for our guys beyond the arc.
I really like BS as a player, but from what I've seen, he is not the end-all that some are making him out to be. He is mainly a set shooter, but has the ability to create his own shot with a couple/few dribbles. I do not see much of him creating his own shot or driving past his defender and finishing at the rim.
Antonio Reeves was more important to get in our current roster situation, in my opinion. People should be happy we were able to get him. Scheierman would be a nice addition, too. You can't have too many shooters but you have guys that can get them the ball and not have their defender draped up their rear out on the three-point line.
Scorers and shooters are two completely different things.
Might already be assuming Toppin and Brooks return.AND if he picks UK, they are the clear cut preseason #1.
THIS MAN IS A GENIUS!!!There is a quick way to read any and all articles on the Athletic without ever paying. I've been doing it off and on.
Simply open the link to any article you want to read, then do not scroll down. Quickly hit Ctrl A (selects all) then Ctrl C (copy) (not simultaneously, but one then the other). Move to a Word document and then hit Ctrl V (paste). Voila - the entire article is there for your reading pleasure (or displeasure, depending on your mood). This instruction is for a Microsoft PC/laptop, but I predict it would be similar for a Mac, just different key combinations (wife has a Mac but I never have tried it there).
If you scroll at all on an Athletic article, it will immediately pop up with the subscription required notice - blocking the entire content.
I sure hope what you heard is correct !All from what I have heard, is Brooks will NOT be back, but Topping WILL.
Jacob Toppin played some damn good defense.Who on this year's team could guard anybody? Need people that can MAKE SHOTS!
Forgot reevesWhat should happen if you sign Baylor...
PG- Wallace (20)/Wheeler (20)
SG- CJ (20)/Wallace (10)/Baylor (10)
3G- Baylor (20)/Livingston (20)
F- Toppin (25)/Collins (15)/Ware
C- Oscar (30)/Collins (5)/Ware (5)
Sign another shooter that is a combo guard. Take a few minutes from the guys who are playing 30...Baylor, Wallace and save their legs until rotation tightens...that is if the other guy can play.
May get Brooks back to and then we have way too many F's who can't stretch the floor again.
As much as I like the potential of Brooks and fact that he'd be a 4th year guy I just don't think there is room for Toppin/Collins/him barring some kind of injury.
All from what I have heard, is Brooks will NOT be back, but Topping WILL.
Skal played 15mpg and had a few DNPs. Whitney played 13mpg. Of course both got more opportunity than they deserved so I know Livingston will too but the pressure is on and if we have depth and he kills spacing around Oscar he might not play more than 15 or so.That would be the least playing time Cal has ever given a top 10 recruit, by a wide margin. Livingston will play, and play a lot.

If Baylor were to come which he won’t with a 10 team list but if you want to have a shot at landing him you pitch this. But Cal does have this weird habit recently of not using his bench.
PG - Wheeler/Wallace
SG - Wallace/CJ
SF - Livingston/Reeves
PF - Brooks/Collins/Toppin
C - Oscar/Ware
Add in Baylor, and I have a feeling a few of these guys won't see time, unless Cal makes this adjustment.
Cal?But he aint not comin to UK if we's has already got shooters
he might not, but no one knows anything.
Reeves? If Baylor were to come which he won’t with a 10 team list but if you want to have a shot at landing him you pitch this.
wallace/wheller
Baylor/cj
Livingston/Baylor
Toppin/collins
Oscar
Reeves?
There adding somebody else the interest in the SDSU kid should tell everybody that, I also wouldn’t be shocked if they tried to get the kid from ChattanoogaI really don’t see room for another rotation player with who is expected back and who is expected to come in.
Tshiebwe is a lock to start. Wheeler shouldn’t be, but is also a lock.
Toppin has two years in the system as a rotation player. He’ll play significant minutes.
Fredrick is going to play a big role, if healthy.
Collins came back and will likely see an increased role.
Wallace and Livingston are 5-stars. They’ll play.
Reeves didn’t sign on to sit the bench for his fifth year. He will be a rotation guy.
Ware reprises his role as Tshiebwe’s backup.
That’s a 9 man rotation, which is what Cal prefers. He probably gets Theiro as the 10th man/practice player because he probably won’t expect much PT as a Freshman.
I don’t see us adding another significant minutes a game type player unless one of the above mentioned guys leave.
We get Scheierman, expect someone to exit either now or midseason when they aren’t getting PT.
Sounds like you didnt read his scouting report ,he is crafty and can create offense, is word for word ,what it says ,now I understand why you think he is a spot up shooter, but he is way more then that ,he also is a great rebounder ,for a guard /SF and got good size, and great IQ....everyone in the country is on this kid that tells you what they think of him.Reeves was more likely UK's first choice. Calipari has never preferred a long bench. He’s always preferred a short rotation consisting of, well, 6 guys actually. 2015 was an anomaly and Calipari didn’t want to do it. That’s why he shortened his rotation in the tournament. He was never going to run the platoon late.
It’s why I say 2015 was actually a pretty overrated Calipari team. A tournament rotation of the twins, WCS, and Lyles playing out of position is not close to one of the best teams he’s had here. I don’t even have it top 4.
I don’t see the point in counting most of the bench because in the tournament it’s 5 on 5 and our 5 wasn’t great. That team was doomed to fail.
That starting 5 while it could have been better with ullis and book starting was phenomenal. BIG KAT ,WILLIE long athletic freak ,Lyles was 6-10 and could knockdown open jumpers from 15 and the twins was pretty good as well so I don't see your point at all.
I roll eyes every time I see someone compare it to 2012. When they would compare it to 96 my whole body would roll.
His rep is a diehard CAT fan!!The "rep" part definitely speaks volumes. If we can wrestle him away from the typical "rep" schools it will be an accomplishment
38-1 is all I need to know ,yes we will no biggie, I think that team is great ! Willie I don't think ever tryed to lay it up he dunked everything that he didnt shoot a jump hook .Lyles is a legitimate 6-10 the nba has to list the correct size and he is 6-10.@ChaiseyD well agree to disagree. WCS was a complete no show in big games and also had huge liabilities on offense. The guy couldn’t even hit a layup.
Lyles was not 6’10 lol and he was out of position all year. He never really looked comfortable either.
KAT was solid and sure, it was a really good team. I just think they’re really overrated and the way Calipari coaches that team isn’t winning championships. When everything is accounted for I don’t rank them top 4 during the Calipari era alone.

Doubt he comes if we get the Baylor kid.
Thanks man. Nice pic of you and yours, too. Good looking couple!Hey! We have a face for the name now! Who’s that guy you’re with? Just kidding man
Actually when I saw the Avi, I thought it was Mbegcat, then I saw your handle. Maybe I’ll finally come out and put one up of me and my lady! Maybe
Nice picture BTW![]()
Your right it really isn't much of a debate they were 38-1 bro, anyteam that is 38-1 is a great team! Lyles look him up in the media guide as well as his rookie yr in the nba .Lyles was not 6’10 at UK. Willie tried to create offense yes, but it was the worst offense we’ve seen from the big man spot at UK.
They were a really good team but overrated. I’ll take 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 over 2015 UK. And 3 out of those 4 went as far or better than ‘15, 2010 was a few minutes behind and we know why. I don’t even see how it’s debatable really. This isn’t a hard call.

He’s already coming.
Forgot reeves
I'd take '12, '10, '15 in that order Morg. '15 certainly wasn't better than '12. I'd have '17 breathing down their neck by end of season too.
I’d give anything for that to had been Baylor.Damnit I thought you were serious and talking about Baylor. I've been avoiding during the day mostly...too distracting in this place. Didn't see Reeves commit. That is good news
