I want this kid in more ways than one. I will actually be excited for the first time in a while if we pull it off.
Everything about him is Slllooowwww! He is a good shooter, but can he guard? Does he need the ball in his hands to make plays?

All I see is that he can hit an open shot. Call me a skeptic.

I would be shocked if Cal is OK with the distance he shoots those 3's from? I've never seen our offensive styled in that manner. However, it equally would be nice to see our style change!

Get this guy and we will be cookin with oil.

Stud freshman coming in. Consistent shooter with advanced step back pull up numbers with reeves. The machine in the middle. Cousy award finalist at pg. Can year 2 Collins be better? Does Toppin take a leap forward? Sheirman and Frederick from three. I like this roster. Think this Roster is better than last years in almost every way.

They have 4 players coming in. I've heard they have one player leaving early for draft. If that's the case they only have one more spot open. 3 of these guys in their freshman class I think are either pfs or sfs. They do also have one center coming in.

Kansas has 4 guys entering the draft - Agbaji, Braun, Wilson, and McCormack.

They are bringing in two 5-star wings in Gradey Dick and MJ Rice, along with 5-star C Ernest Udeh.

Dejuan Harris is still at PG so they probably want to run the offense thru him and Scheierman, with Dick, and Rice starting with Udeh at C maybe.

Serious question: what does KU's roster look like for next year? Do they have incoming 5-stars? Who returns? I know Agbaji is gone. Wondering what they have to offer regarding playing time vs. what we would have to offer.
Rice is outside the top 25 on both Rivals and 247. Dick is outside the top 25 on Rivals.

Kentucky is bringing in two consensus top 10 recruits at SG and SF. They are viewed locks to start and very tough competition for playing time. KU's recruits are simply not at that same level.

Wallace and Livingston starting at the 2 and 3. Reeves as the primary back-up. Scheierman will be playing 35 minutes a game somewhere else, likely Kansas.

Kyle Tucker trying to sell more subscriptions to The Athletic by dangling bait in front of hungry UK fans.
Listen to this for free:
Antonio Reeves commits to the Cats, get to know him on today's episode! Plus, is Baylor Scheierman Kentucky's next commit? Andd what does Shaedon Sharpe have to do with all this? Check out this episode to find out more!

Apparently it's bad we got Reeves because it means we won't get this kid (according to some)

But Cal does have this weird habit recently of not using his bench.

PG - Wheeler/Wallace
SG - Wallace/CJ
SF - Livingston/Reeves
PF - Brooks/Collins/Toppin
C - Oscar/Ware

Add in Baylor, and I have a feeling a few of these guys won't see time, unless Cal makes this adjustment.

I think this is probably the rotation/roster Cal goes into the season with. I think he might add a depth level guard transfer - someone not nearly on Baylors level. I would also put in the caveat that UKs probably better off if Brooks doesn't come back and if he doesn't come then Cal may look to add another body somewhere.

Just use https://12ft.io/ it strips the paywall off The Athletic and a bunch of others.

I doubt Reeves signed up to come off the bench. He's gonna be this years Grady IMO, plays a ton of minutes and starts every game. I would not be surprised to see Livingston end up with a slightly larger role than Bryce Hopkins.

Maybe true. I would also expect Toppin to start at the PF or work in a lot more than last year if Brooks is back. Cal not playing yet another top 15 Freshman very much would certainly be an interesting trend he's been following - but you may be right about Livingston.

There are enough minutes if Livingston slides down to the PF….and no offense to Toppin but if I have to choose between Baylor and Toppin I’m picking Baylor. Wheeler, Wallace, Baylor, Livingston, Oscar. Bench of: Frederick, Reeves, Toppin, Collins & Ware.

Not having a backup PG is a bit concerning there. Probably pretty close to how we'll roll though. I think with that, in current setup, it'll probably mean another 10-15 min for a guard or wing?

Reeves was more likely UK's first choice. AR was more of a need than Scheierman due to the fact that not only is Reeves a shooter, but can facilitate. Baylor is more of a spot-up shooter that would hang around the three-point line waiting for a kick-out or a teammate to collapse the defense.

I don't understand the fact that some on here would have rather have BS than AR, or we are set if he comes. We have got to have guys that can get these guys open by penetrating and kicking it out, or we are just going to have everyone but Oscar standing at the three-point line covered up and not open. Sure you can run plays and have screens being made, but thar only works with a lot of moving parts and other intangibles that have to be correct.

Set shooters are useless without teammates that can find them and relieve the pressure from the defense for our guys beyond the arc.

I really like BS as a player, but from what I've seen, he is not the end-all that some are making him out to be. He is mainly a set shooter, but has the ability to create his own shot with a couple/few dribbles. I do not see much of him creating his own shot or driving past his defender and finishing at the rim.

Antonio Reeves was more important to get with our current roster situation, in my opinion. People should be happy we were able to get him. Scheierman would be a nice addition, too. You can't have too many shooters but you have to have guys that can get them the ball and not have their defender draped up their rear out on the three-point line.

Scorers and shooters are two completely different things.

He's the backup PG if he comes here. There isn't a better place to go for his game.

Having Oscar inside along with the athleticism he will have with Collins, Toppin and Livingston. He won't HAVE to run the PG but he will be there if needed.

Calipari has never preferred a long bench. He’s always preferred a short rotation consisting of, well, 6 guys actually. 2015 was an anomaly and Calipari didn’t want to do it. That’s why he shortened his rotation in the tournament. He was never going to run the platoon late.

It’s why I say 2015 was actually a pretty overrated Calipari team. A tournament rotation of the twins, WCS, and Lyles playing out of position is not close to one of the best teams he’s had here. I don’t even have it top 4.

I don’t see the point in counting most of the bench because in the tournament it’s 5 on 5 and our 5 wasn’t great. That team was doomed to fail.

I roll eyes every time I see someone compare it to 2012. When they would compare it to 96 my whole body would roll.

Cason Wallace is a better PG (Cal's System) than Sahvir Wheeler IMO. Wheeler as a backup would be ideal and if you land this Scheierman kid he's a playmaker as well as a shooter. Multiple ball handlers/playmakers are needed after having 2 last year and both were injured the last Month of the season.

Dammit man. I don’t think we have EVER got a player you said that about. Take it back!
Hey! We have a face for the name now! Who’s that guy you’re with? Just kidding man🤣

Actually when I saw the Avi, I thought it was Mbegcat, then I saw your handle. Maybe I’ll finally come out and put one up of me and my lady! Maybe 😁

Nice picture BTW👊🏻

Wallace, BS, Reeves, and OT would be legit with any of the 3 options at PF. Brooks and Ware out. BJ and Wheeler off the bench.
