there is no small gov't party. people who vote down party lines are incapable of thinking critically.

you really think the gov't creates regulation and law prior to inventions & innovations by the private sector? get a clue.

what examples would you like? private school? fedex? private shipping lanes? I can go on and on and on and on.

private sector serves everybody, too. and they do it better because they're incentivized to do so.
Private sector is incentivized to make money. Therein lies the rub. USPS cheaper than FedEx, and literally serves every address in the GD country. Private schools get to pick and choose who they educate.
There is widespread evidence of voter fraud. And the lawsuits have merit, especially in Pennsylvania. Alan Dershowitz (probably the most respected lawyer in the entire country) says that if the case is taken up by the Supreme Court, Trump will likely win. They are stuck on technicalities, like the date the lawsuit was filed. In Georgia it's now impossible to directly tie ballots to signatures, but just doing a signature validation will give an indication of how F'd up the process was and how many phony ballots were cast. The SOS in Georgia knows he F'd up and won't do it because it will expose his own incompetence and the ease with which corrupt Democrats pushed the governor, etc to change laws to work in their favor. The same is true of ballot dumps in Detroit, Milwaukee, etc. The election was a crock of phony **** and you or CNN telling me otherwise won't change that. If they do the signature validation and show the results in a transparent manner it will go a long way toward winning over people like me. But they won't.
BTW, 306-232 is not a landslide or even close. The margins of victory were relatively slim in several states with large electoral counts and it's only 2 or three to reverse the results. Trump won 2-3 of the largest population states, and an equal number of states. 74 million votes would also have won every other election in history. It still remains a mystery (outside of fraud) why Biden performed worse in every location than Hillary other than a select few important metro areas.
Just false BS up and down your post. If ANY of the lawsuits had ANY merit, why are they being tossed out in state after state, in many cases by JUDGES APPT BY TRUMP? Signature validation is a crock of ****. Talk about a completely subjective way to **** with votes. Do you really think the Democratic Party is capable of organizing some large scale voter fraud? Tens of thousands of votes? Insane. Republicans have been crying about voter fraud for years, and there has NEVER been any evidence of ANYTHING. They'd be shouting that stuff from the Mtn tops if there was. Who cares if Trump's votes would have won other elections - - Biden rec'd the most votes in history. Virtually every LOSER would have won previous elections on account of the number of new voters swelling the voter pool every 4 years. Jon McCain would have kicked W's *** if you use that completely useless measure. The pool of potential voters grows each year, which renders comparison of vote totals from different years virtually meaningless. Trump's percentage of votes - 46%, is the lowest amount a candidate has rec'd since McCain in '08 and prior to that, since Bob Dole v Clinton. Trump did not do as well this year as Mit, John Kerry, or Al Gore did in their elections. You clowns call this close, but all I saw for weeks after 2016 was the stupid and completely irrelevant county map with Red all over. Electoral College for this elections is the same as Trump's win over Hillary, and that was proclaimed to be a whitewash. Biden won 6 of the top 10 most populous states, and won the overall vote by SEVEN MILLION. Trump says this absolute horsesht over and over and over and you rubes lap it up. That is what should piss you off, the right wing echo chamber is leading you astray with easily provable lies.

I lived in Texas for 15 years. There are many things I like/love about the state. I LOVE the food, seriously terrific from BBQ to Mexican and seafood. And I really enjoy the sense of pride that people have in their state, some of it is silly, but the state does have a fascinating history. At the same time, many of the criticisms of California ring true in Texas. If you live in the triangle -- Dallas to Austin to San Antonio, over to Houston and back up to Dallas -- traffic can be horrendous, and with population growth it's only going to get worse. Public transportation is awful. I like the seasons, including the summers, but at a certain point summer is the opposite side of the winter coin: long, brutal, exhausting, people move from one air conditioned building to another, and rarely go outside. And for all the praise of conservative stewardship, education is among the worst in the nation, so is childhood poverty, obesity, access to health, poor quality of water, wages are low, many homes are of a subpar quality, and the list goes on. I left Texas a few years ago. I enjoy every trip back, and rarely miss it when I'm away.

It's pretty clear that you are taking a very narrow view of what fascism is or has been throughout history. Fascism is characterized by "extreme militaristic nationalism, contempt for electoral democracy and political and cultural liberalism." That is straight from the book my friend. Between the two parties, these unquestionably describe the Republican party under Trump. The two areas where we might find some room for debate are the rule of elites and subordination of individual interests for the good of the nation. But we could debate them and find examples on either side of the aisle.

Not that I agree with Britannica, but you chose that so let’s discuss.

I’m curious why you left out this part ...

the desire to create a Volksgemeinschaft (German: “people’s community”), in which individual interests would be subordinated to the good of the nation.

Sounds like the Democrats to me.

No, I included "in which individual interests would be subordinated to the good of the nation" I just left out the Volksgemeinschaft.

Yea, on a certain level I see what you mean. But I don't think it's nearly as extreme as you're making it out to be. My view is that Republicans have a sharp, and often irrational response, to what they perceive to be efforts to subordinate their individual interests. Wearing masks is probably the latest example of this, and I just don't think it's that big of a deal. My opinion, obviously.

At the same time, people on the far left, I'm thinking the woke as hell generation, want to be treated like snowflakes: I'm a unique individual and demand to special recognition. I'm a liberal, but this also drives me up the freaking wall. Anyway, the conservative response to these people has essentially been "why do I have to bend over backwards to accommodate you?" In other words, they seem to be stomping all over the right of some to fully express individualism.

Moreover, efforts by African American communities, Latino communities, and Asian American communities to have their histories and cultures recognized are similarly scorned for placing too many individual demands on the general public, if not for asserting a narrative that runs counter to the mainstream of white America.

My main point is that you are zeroing in on this one aspect of fascism while ignoring the rest. I think the people using fascism to describe Republicans under Trump are referring to the other characteristics that comprise this particular ism.

I just don't see that happening. It was "easy" during the Civil War because it was north vs south, but now it's much more complicated.
There's no reason to secede simply merg the three west coast states into one and the five Northeast states into one.

I like your insight on Husker sports, but your political commentary is consistently hot garbage. Joe is an uninspiring president, to be sure, but you keep missing the point of his election win. It was never about Joe, it was always about the rejection of Trump.
Sorry it wasn’t the rejection of trump you had at least 4 states stop counting at 3 am with trump leading and when they restarted counting whamo groper joe is leading , sorry I’m not buying that, a lot of vote stuffing and rigging machines

What is this jackass AG from Texas doing suing battleground states ON BEHALF OF TEXAS? Texas trying to meddle in the outcome of election in other states? Just a small window into the self important myopic lunacy that is all too common down there. Shitkickers with necks like a stack of dimes, cowboy hats three sizes too large, and belt buckles bigger than granny's nipples. The BBQ is top notch tho. KC and Memphis and Carolina can go kick rocks. Texas BBQ is the ****. Everything else down there is simply the *****. Important distinction.

Dozens upon dozens of lawsuits have completely discredited this garbage. Trump lost, yuge! But hey, man, it ain't no thing. You voted for a groper, and he's being replaced by another. You should be pleased.

No, I don't. In the immortal words of Dave Chappelle "that ***** did that sh**!"

But your comparison is a terrible one. You're talking about a guy who everyone knew was guilty, but got off because of clever lawyering. Are you saying that Trump might still win a second term because of clever lawyering? If that's the case, then I agree. If you're saying the courts are fallible, then I would also agree. But at a certain point, like after 55 losses and counting, maybe Trump is just full of crap. What do you think? Maybe?

This forum is like crack, it feeds on your weaknesses. Pretty soon I'll be turning down sex.

Anyway, most of the top threads aren't about football, or they are tangentially related.

I've noticed there is way more football discussion after a loss than after a win.

You mean the ban from China that still allowed 40,000+ people in after it was announced...or the ban on travel from the EU, which occurred 6 weeks later---you know, the continent from which NYC's early cases originated?

Besides, your missing the point. Someone claimed that Trump's inaction on COVID was due to the impeachment trial. That's what I was responding to-- the utter ******** of that theory.

Yeah, I'll give him credit for bringing on Fauci. I'd give him even more credit if he spent more time deferring to Fauci, instead of trying to counter what he said.
Have you ever looked at a timeline of Fauci's statements? He has reversed himself dozens of times on everything from masks to gatherings to travel. People like you have been obsessive about how great Fauci has been but never bother to actually pay attention to how utterly useless he has been. Dr. Birx was much better but for some reason the Left and the media ignore her.

Ok, start with Pennsylvania and Dershowitz: https://www.breitbart.com/radio/202...-win-pennsylvania-lawsuit-enough-votes-stake/
Yes, I do think the Democrats re capable of committing voter fraud on mass scale and succeeded in doing so. They passed 'emergency' election law changes in states held by Democrats and even in states like Georgia they pressed the governor to relax laws on signature validation. Late ballots without even postmarks were accepted in places like Nevada and Pennsylvania. There were millions of excess ballots mailed out and the Democrats were ready to collect them and deliver them in ballot dumps. An audit of the signatures would be damning and everyone knows it. I don't care about the popular vote (which is heavily influenced by lax laws in places like California), what matters is the electoral college. Trump did better than Romney, McCain, and Bob Dole in the electoral college and was close to winning. The 2000 election was very close and Bush Jr actually lost the popular vote (which reinforces the point that it doesn't matter). The sad part is Trump was the best president in terms of accomplishments we've had in decades and you, yes you, benefitted from his tenure but are too foolish to care. You'd rather have an 80 year old career politician with nothing to offer. Oh wait, he won't offend the French by daring to point out that they don't pay their agreed to share in NATO.

That might be because Fauci follows the science and addresses developments as conditions change. Trump throws **** against the wall and hopes some of it sticks. If I recall, Fauci said back in April or May that the fall and winter were going to be bad. Trump said it would be gone by now---"like a miracle". Let me know who ended up right on that.

I should also point out that someone said I should be giving Trump credit for bring on Fauci, and here you are criticizing Fauci. You should make up your mind.

And don't say "people like you" with reference to me. You know nothing about me or what I think.

I thought Trump was a scumbag long before he ran for president. His time as president has done nothing to negate that; in fact, his presidency has reinforced that view. It isn't a matter of right or left when it comes to my view on him, so don't assume anything with me, because you'll just end up looking stupid.

If voter fraud is so damn easy, why do you assume only Democrats would be capable of doing it?

Trump has a greater cult-like following of any president or candidate I have seen in my lifetime, from either party, but I'm supposed to believe that that segment would never commit fraud---

Are you interested in some tropical rain forest land out near Alliance? I'm looking to unload it.

You should also familiarize yourself with regards to state laws that decide when early voting/ mail-in/ absentee ballots can begin to be processed and counted.

That date, for Pennsylvania, was Election Day. There was a proposed bill in their state legislature that would have changed when those ballots could begin to be processed and counted to an earlier date; it was voted down by their state legislature, which is GOP majority. Seems to me if you're mad that if it took so long to count those ballots (which do take longer than ballots from in-person voting on election day), then you need to lay some blame on the state GOP as well.

Also, your talk on excess ballots is ********. I'm in a county of 5,500, and there were 5 different ballots based on the precinct in which one resided. Not sure about the validity of all these excess/ blanket ballots I hear about.

There is zero proof of what you allege. Trump is like 1-55 in court. It is my understanding that most of these sworn affidavits (which don't mean **** in terms of evidence and proof) are about things like seeing a ballot counter roll their eyes while looking at a ballot, or a ballot count watcher wearing a BLM t-shirt. Neither of those things are crimes or proof of voter fraud.

You mean the 40,000+ United States citizens? Not just "people" but actual US citizens. Sounds like you're upset that Trump didn't take it further and ban US citizens from coming back to the mainland. Of course we both know that if he had done that you'd be completely outraged.

Yes, and once Trump stopped travel from the EU the WaPo came out with an article claiming the travel ban caused chaos. There's no winning with you guys.

The virus concern was going on prior to Feb 5th. Trump said as much on his Feb 4th SOTUA so it's fair to say he was dealing with both impeachment and C19 at the same time.

Could he have taken more action? Of course, but when you take into context of what the virus was doing at the time & what was known about it at that time, he took reasonable steps. Really why would anyone have taken more steps with so little information at that time? You guys act like the information we have today was available and known back in Jan, Feb, March & April.

Excellent post sir. "There's no winning with you guys" is probably the biggest understatement I've ever heard.

Let me warn you-- if you continue with the "you guys" with me, you're going to come off looking stupid.

I had zero problem with the China travel ban. But maybe those Americans citizens should have had to quarantine when they returned. That ever dawn on you? Example #1 with an assumption about me you are making being in error.

I don't read the Washington Post, so I don't really care what their view was on the EU ban. Should have been done earlier in my view, and while not part of the EU, that ban should have included the UK, which had more cases at that point than many of the EU countries. Second time your assumption of me is wrong.

You're right--we know much more now that we did in February. However, anyone with a brain knew we weren't going to be going from 15 cases down to zero---or that people get better by going to work, as Trump claimed.

Being president requires having to focus on more than one thing at a time, like other presidents have done---even the bad ones. Considering there was no way Trump was going to be convicted in the Senate, maybe he should have been a lot less worried about, and more worried about COVID. You really should check out the "Red Dawn" e-mails sometime.

Lastly---which you are ignoring---Trump himself admitted to Bob Woodward that he was downplaying the virus, and, at the time of the recording, still does. Hell----he's more concerned about raising money to pay off his campaign debts right now than he is about the virus.

In short, you need to take your assumptions, and stuff them. Maybe try arguing with me, instead of who you want to think I am.

Fauci hasn't followed the 'science' but whatever his evolving opinion is at the time. He has told people not to wear masks, told them it is safe to travel on cruise ships, told them they could randomly hook up on dating aps, etc. The reason he told people not to wear masks (he claims now) was to avoid a shortage. That isn't following the science which would be unaffected by outside concerns. Trump is not a doctor and hasn't claimed to be. He created the task force with people like Dr. Birx so he could hear their opinions and make decisions based upon them. He follows that advice but also has to balance it with all the other concerns facing the nation including unemployment and public health in other areas like depression and suicide. A leader weighs the various concerns and makes decisions based on them. BTW, Fauci was also saying that the virus was of little concern early on and most of us have come to the realization that that is correct. When people get sick most of us expect a quick recovery because we've seen time and again that fact come to fruition. If this was a much more dangerous virus we would be more fearful. A truly deadly virus doesn't leave the young virtually unscathed. It kills indiscriminately (like the bubonic plague, smallpox, Ebola, certain strains of the flu, etc). Why aren't college football players dropping dead?

Listen to Fauci on Jan 26 (not a serious concern):

Don't California my Texas.

Californians made up roughly 13% of the entire population that has migrated to Texas since 2010, more than any other single state.

If the "you guys" fit then that's what I'm going to go with.

See you're moving the goal post. First you tried trashing Trump & his decision to ban travel from China by saying he allowed 40,000 people into the US from China after the ban. Now that you acknowledge those "people" were US citizens you're moving the goal post to "should have quarantined". My assumption is still correct that you're a NeverTrumper which puts you in the "you guys" category.

The point of me bringing up WaPo is that many in the media and NeverTrumpers are completely unreasonable. Trump does one thing & the media / NT dog on him. Trump does the opposite, he gets dogged on. Trump finds middle ground and still he gets dogged on. Just like what you did. First it was "see this timeline, Trump didn't do anything", then it was "some travel ban, 40k people came in from China" and now it's, "well he didn't force them to quarantine". Like I said, it's always something with you guys.

When will you learn not to take Trump so literal every single time? It's truly amazing to me when anti-Trumpers will say "Trump is FOS" then when Trump makes an exaggerated statement those same people will say "why does Trump lie all the time?". While I liked a lot of what Trump has done & voted for him, even I know to always take what he says with a grain of salt, but the NeverTrumpers & media just can't do that.

LOL, again you guys not happy with how Trump talks. He took reasonable steps to try & combat this virus given the context of information he had at the time it was available. Had he not said "I like to downplay the virus" what even changes? The answer is nothing because it doesn't change what information was out there.

Right because the ONLY two things he had to focus on was the impeachment & Covid. You guys kill me.

Still doesn't negate the fact that Trump 1) had nothing to worry about with the impeachment trial; no one believed he'd be convicted, 2) acted like a buffoon with the COVID issue, and 3) had no more on his plate than any other president.

Maybe he shouldn't have spent so much time tweeting.

And, just so I know, who are "you guys"?

So, you seem to have disdain for "Never Trumpers". I hate to tell you, but "Never Obamans", "Never Bushers", and "Never Clintonites" also existed. Did you have that same disdain for those people?

You appear to be a Trump Worshipper. You guys are a pathetic lot.

If I recall, Bill Clinton had an impeachment trial as well, and yet he somehow managed to pay attention to other things that were going on in the US and world.

His quote on downplaying the virus means that due to his not taking the virus seriously, his cultist followers didn't, either. As soon as he said he wouldn't be wearing a mask, that was the beginning of the anti-masker movement.

Sure, it ain't the Black Plague, but we only have about 4% of the world's population, but have about 15% of the world's COVID cases, and 25% of the world's deaths. Yes, cases are increasing in other countries again, but that doesn't change the fact that, for as well off as our nation is, we've done a piss poor job of handling this---and the buck stops at the top, whether you want it to or not.

BTW--I'm not part of the media. Take your gripes with the media up with them.
