Trust me the twice as good comes from other schools so I just go on what they say so maybe you will be like them and get to find out. I thought the SMC was bad wow.
@REWhitley thank you sir. Mt Airy played great that night, as you know. Represented the west to the best of their ability in SC as well.
End of 3rd was ER 17 MA 14 ER scored 7 in 3rd MA 0! MA scored 21 to ER 0 4TH QRT. I understand he got hurt late in game but anyone that seen the game, MA kept coming at ER and wore them down. MA D had the QB running all night. ER was big and physical and had play makers. QB was a stud. Was a great game great atmosphere. Lets be honest ER was out of gas in 4TH QRT. IMO! Hope to see y'all in MA soon I think ER has another very good team and the QB looks like he has some wheels.
buzz my point was/is Devonte left in third quarter with only two plays left. The same third quarter Bears put up a goose egg (thank you for relaying scores I honestly couldn’t remember exactly). If he stays in game who knows what happens? But he didn’t and that’s part of all sports. Another part is fans seeing things from their perspective. That’s what makes a message board I guess.

I agree and with that said MA had 2 starting linemen out. #75 was hurt week before and was a force on D. Was playing very well. He is a SR this year and wasn't cleared to play bc of the knee injury! The other one is a SR and didn't return this year either bc of his knee injury. He has offers to play baseball already! Like you said injurie's a part of game. Think I seen the stat MA had 6 saks in that game.

I will say MA/ROBB 2009 was best game I ever watched.
I was there at that game on the sidelines. It was a great game.

Beats anything I've ever seen comparing flatlanders from ER to SMC. I'll disagree with the twice as good statement for Mt Airy. That number 59 was a beast last year
Guys, I am not bull crapping you. I truly believe this Mt Airy team is twice as good as last years team. That does not mean we win another game, but I truly believe when you compare strength of the team top to bottom, the speed of the team top to bottom, the line play and the additional number of players at these positions, and the focus of this team compared to last year........

Brooks was a BEAST!!! ER was the most physical team MA played all year. Hated to see the injury, he was certainly a game changer. Great experience after the game. My wife and I had several ER fans wish us good luck!!! Not sure I want to play you guys this year, but our mantra is: Anybody, Anywhere at Anytime!!! I feel certain that we will be a #3 or #4 seed again.
Mount Airy will only be the best 2023 1A team if they win the 2023 State Championship. They have to keep in mind they can lose in the playoffs on any given Friday night if they get it in their heads, they can't be beat. That is when someone can sneak up on them and take away their hopes of a repeat of the 2022 State Championship.

More likely is ER will be a 3 or 4. Eastern Alamance getting upset last Friday hurt their RPI some. It should go up a little before season’s end but probably won’t be enough to jump many. BK wants SOS somehow figured in differently. I wished that they gave credit to teams for playing up in class. But I think the way it’s figured now is fair for the most part.
And ER fans are kinda like that. Do best to win but if not then wish you luck.

Well isn't it funny. Eastern Randolph and Mt Airy just keep on beating the dog poop out of people and other teams that just get by keep moving up in RPI. I am sure neither Eastern Randolph nor Mt Airy care, at the end of the day, where we play in the playoffs. Just bring them on. The games will be own on the field, not in a computer.
Well you don't need a computer it's a simple equation the problem for Mt Airy is compared to Rville is their owp and oopw. especially their oowp

and as for ER they have a good oowp but it's mainly their owp is only 0.48333.
The idea is while we may believe a team is the best team ( and I personally believe Mt Airy is probably the best team right now) but the formula doesn't care who you are but rewards you for playing a tuff schedule and it hurts if you play a bunch of weak team. Are you really good or do you just have a easy schedule?
ER may end up 2nd if they get by Randleman.
The conference hurts MA just like Reidsville in 2a. Probably most talented teams traveling if get to western final
This is why I like the rpi. You want the 1 seed, go out and schedule some tuff teams. Even if you take a loss.
Yep conference does make a difference. The smc champ seems to get the 1 or 2 most years. Especially if they go undefeated
It's entirely possible that Mount airy can end up 5th. All the teams below them in the top 5 are within a tenth of a point I think. And they play Elkin and Allegheny next. Both stink. Only saving grace is the opponents win percentage of each. Have to see how smc shakes out but could see Swain as the number 2 especially if they won. Although they would not get a one seed if they didn't.
Not getting beat up though says something. Although last year in last three games Mount airy was without two starting offensive lineman for the year and starting defensive tackle and still won. They do have depth.
LOL I can not wait to see how some of these "high RPI" teams do against Starmount. They are also in the weak as creek water conference.
If you look at the parameters of the RPI you will notice margin of victory or loss doesn't factor in.
If I remember correctly back when they use maxpreps for seeding I don't know what they do now but they took out margin of victory as well which I believe is a good thing no use of running up the score in high school football.
Could happen but one injury at Rville could derail the whole thing.

We are deep at most positions. But take that for what it’s worth. I don’t think any 1a team is very “deep”
