If not getting too personal, what part of the country do you live in? I was born and raised in Michigan until I was turning 19. Spent over 20 years in Kentucky after I got out of the Army. My youngest was born in E-Town. (Live in Northern Virginia now since 2017...) Retired here, not sure what next as of now...

Been to Texas for seven or so years, Korea for three, South Carolina for a couple... Yadda, yadda, yadda... If you ever talk to me you will instantly think I am a deep south native, my twang was gathered naturally...(I am a hood at heart.) Most of my relatives are Kentucky, Tennesee natives... My Dad and Mom's family were from the Middlesboro area... Just jabber jawing...

Drinkin g my second cup of coffee after church eating some cottage cheese and english muffins with butter and peanut butter... Yes I do...

Edit: Man that "natural" peanut butter is just goo... I like peanut butter but I think this is my last jar.. Just too messy and the other peanut butter has too many additives... Oh well, I still have My Darlings cooking to live with....

Kings eat on special occasions like I eat regularly... (Seriously My Darling is such a fine cook...)
Bullitt County Kentucky. We're about 25 minutes or so south of Louisville. This is the wettest summer I can ever recall. Usually by now everything is burnt but the rainfall we've had has it green.

Good to see I'm not the young gun of the group now.... welcome BC.

I got back from a 2 day hike of 18 miles up in the SE KY mountains yesterday. We were blessed with the timing of the rain. It couldn't have worked out better.

Back down to the lake for more remodeling after church today.

Have a great week everyone.
Storm, been meaning to ask you, what's the largest striker or rockfish that you have caught? I've caught a couple good ones on Lake Barkley back in the day!

Gonna be a HOT one out today. Think I'll wait to cut my grass, err, weeds till Tuesday. Used to welcome the heat but I just can't do it anymore. I think this heat killed our pumpkin plant. It was doing so well and then looked dead in the span of hours yesterday.

Speaking of plants, this is the worst year for our garden in a very long time. This weather pattern we've been stuck in this summer as well as the insects have done a number. We've always had just a massive harvest of peppers from bells to bananas to jalapenos. No bueno this year. We'll chalk it up to the strong el nino we got going on and hope for better luck next season. Stay cool out there gents.
Concerning cutting grass in the heat, see how it is in 20 years. 🥵

Good morning folks. Just back from church. Before that got a long run in and did a couple loads of laundry, something I never minded but my wife hates so I have been happy to do. That and grocery shopping. Both mindless chores that give me plenty of time to think.

My son’s Hot Shot firefighting crew wrapped up three weeks up in western Montana. He says they are taking a route back to Colorado through Glacier National Park, and hope to spot some grizzlies. I suggested he buy some binoculars. During my days in Alaska that was the appropriate range to see grizzlies, at least for me.

Hope you all have a good day.
Glad DS is well, Md. (y)

I feel the same way here in NKy. Average inches aren't that high over normal, but every time it's started to get dry we've gotten some.

I lived in Hardin County more than twenty years. Made my living there in the bug business and real estate (part-time).. I know Lebanon Junction, Shepherdsville, and Mt. Washington very well or used to, in Maryville, I treated all the homes Kenny Senn built in that subdivision (Can't remember the name.) until I sold. (He must be well into his 70's now or 80. (Did work for some other family of his too.) I really liked him and how he did business. I finished the bug business by selling my company.

Knew Jim Lucas of Lucas Insurance in Shepherdsville (Off 44) very well too as well as his family. Actually had a key to his office he gave me. Also knew David Bishop very well (A real estate agent who owned his own company (Bishop Realty). Had a key to his office too.) . Had real good friends and customers there. Also Ed Royalty (Royalty Real Estate) (His office was by the tracks off 44 in Shepherdsville.) was a real good friend, David Harrington, (Harrington Real Estate) in Mt. Washington, (Had keys to all their offices.) They were some seriously good people but they were older than me at the time. I am 65 now.... I don't see any issue with mentioning them... (I did my best to take care of them too.)

Those are just off the top of my head in your area. I had many other great customers and friends. Never felt I was working but I sure did. Crawled bunches and bunches of homes in your area.....

Oh, knew Bo Higdon too (LaBo's in Lebanon Junction) did his work as well. He used to have some players at that place. Had David Allen Coe there and Bo paid him and kicked him out. Stated he was a real...D _ _ _ Many the people I knew and really enjoyed working for them.... (I do not feel anything I said is an issue.) If I had not been gone so long, I wouldn't bring all those names up but did in case you or some here may know of them.... I was younger than most if not all of them by nearing ten years.... Bo fed me a pitcher or two of beer to pay me off for some work I did... (That was before I married.)

I finished my business commitment and started as a contractor on Fort Knox the day before 9/11...

HAHA, since I already wrote this book I figured I'd add a chapter.... My key ring with all those keys also had the keys to eight or ten ponds to where I could go fishing any time I wanted. Took several friends Cat and Bass fishing.... my wife never liked fresh water fish as much so it was just an event to enjoy though I did catch the cats well.... A decent Bass or two too... ;)

We're in Mt Washington. Been here for almost 25 years and my goodness has this town grown. WAY too many people now but I understand why. Folks fleeing Louisville and their crappy school system and wanting a small, country town feel. Was a lot of corn and tobacco fields when we moved out here. Lands being bought up with the quickness anymore. Totally different looking town now. Too many people for this small town. If you ever wanna shake the dust off those keys to access some ponds you just let me know ;). I love to fish.

BC, I’ve posted this before, if you love fishing, if you can, take you a trip to Norfolk Arkansas. I use to go every year, but the trip has gotten took rough on me now. I caught a 8lb Brown Trout 3 years ago. Fished the White and Norfolk Rivers, beautiful place! If you catch less than 50 Trout a day, you’ve had a bad day!

Used to do some wading for trout and just about anything else that swims years ago. Arthritic ankles keep me from doing it anymore. Felt soles wouldn't help me much I'm afraid. I'll hit some of the FiNs lakes in Louisville in the cooler months for some eater rainbows but it's all bank access. Outside of crappies and gills, nothing beats some trout meat, IMO.

Morning D-Legionnaires!

100 plus degrees here with the next week or so being the same.

Did someone say fishing? Oh Yeah! Although, I have not gone since the heat has hit over the 100-degree mark and the early mornings are around 80 degrees. Waiting for the temps to drop a bit and then...back at it.

Saw a like from a poster named @faithful fan Welcome and don't be shy. Take your medications and join in (just joking on the meds).

Reds... What can I say, I still watch them. Double header today with the Cards starting at 12:40pm central.

@MdWIldcat55 Glad you son stayed safe. Dangerous work there.

Hope all are safe and well so, have a good start to the work week and God Bless.

They stock trout here in Muhlenberg, Hopkins and Ohio counties, not big but good eating. They do stock some larger ones in Madisonville Park.

Good morning folks. Back to work. Mondays like this make me really sick of still being on the job -- and I could quit any time. I'm well past retirement age. There are jsut enough times I feel fulfilled and excited by the job that I can't quite walk away.

Speaking of jobs, thanks for the good wishes for my son. He finished three weeks on the fire line and is heading back to Colorado. He told me the guys he's traveling with are taking the long way back to see Glacier National Monument park.

Here's a photo one of his buddies took of my son, as they were clearing a fire lane. I wouldn't have recognized him. The helmet says SAN JUAN HOT SHOTS and he's proud to be one of them. It's a tough job and can be dangerous. Four hot shots were killed on that Colorado fire last month. But it is giving him a sense of purpose right now, so I'm happy for him.

I know Flycatcher Pond on the way to Twin Tiles have trout. I always say I'm going out there in the Fall to fish and camp but never have. I'll be doing it this year because I haven't fished much this year due to various obligations.

Hello All,

Stupid busy today (At it since 6) unexpectedly but a profitable busy along with the stupid... (On going profitable too so...)

Will try posting again later today... My two grandbabies are here and papa told them he'd take them swimming after they ate. They are eating steak and rice My Darling cooked on our new small charcoal barbeque grill...(My Darling has been sick the last couple days but she keeps going...) She really likes it and it shows with the charcoal grilled food I've been so blessed to eat since we got it...

Enjoy what's left of your day(s)

MdW, that is some serious work your son is doing... Just amazing thinking about that type stuff burning... Yeah, just even thinking about it. I will say a prayer for him and his people he is with as well... (Just thinking about it and what would come with all that fire...)

wc, I am reminded of a picture I have and I know I have this one, (The Wipe Out post you made abaove.) I will look it back up and post it in the next couple days or so...
