Why? I don't see why it's a problem.....you have nothing to lose by wearing one.

This is exactly what he does...he is proven wrong...does not admit it...then puts you on ignore...not a good way to live life...

BTW.....my family members all wear masks and have from day one......but.....Fauci did make the statements.
He didn't say that a mask offers "no protection". The other statement was taken out of context and doesn't mean that masks offer no protection.
Who is saying that masks being worn by the general public offer "perfect protection"? No one. I agree with him, they don't and it's not even close. You'd need a PAPR or SCBA for perfect protection.
S L O W Moe continues to divert, deflect, and change the debate because he's lost, and lost badly. Here is what I posted at #21 that has MoeRon's panties in a bunch: "I wear a mask when I'm in stores out of respect for the elderly and unhealthy, but I'm not sure that masks are that effective, and Lord Fauci wasn't in March, either." Tell me where I was wrong.
If you passed through or had to go wait in a hospital waiting room full of positive virus patients, would you rather have on one of the generally available public masks or nothing?
This thread is a glaring example as to why nobody takes Moe seriously. It couldn't be any clearer that Fauci didn't think that the general public should be wearing masks in March, and changed his tune later. Game over for Moe.
and since we don't know other people's status when we go out in public in close proximity to people, thus mask wearing is being requested/required. good call.

I’ve only worn a mask into the doctor office where it is Required and as soon as he gets in the office, he takes the mask off. Even he doesn’t believe in the ******** masks.
Would be a whole lot better if they would go and jump off a bridge and hang themselves. We'd be back to normal a lot quicker.
Ask him. Perhaps because we were pre-"beginning of pandemics". Obviously asking everyone to wear a mask before many cases had been diagnosed would have been about as popular as asking so many businesses to shut down was. Books will be written about this and I would expect that you will read every one of them based on your interest in the subject matter.
Seeing the mask makes them feel safe. You could dip the mask in urine or feces or infect it with parasites, just as long as you wear it.
But "preventing" the spread is key, and with such low cases, he should have went on record suggesting that masks would be the way to stop this. That's just logical. Not waiting until there's millions of cases and then saying they work. If they work with millions, they would have most definitely worked with 500 FREAKING CASES in the first weeks of March!!!!!!!
I haven't followed his every word like you so I don't know all of his statements, maybe he did. He didn't wait until there was a million cases and then say they work. Masks and social distancing are helpful, they don't "work". Only a PAPR or SCBA "works". It probably didn't help that Trump wasn't on board with masks, still isn't.
Americans agree that his response to the virus has been terrible. If the economy didn't suck he wouldn't care at all.
