So we just need more bad news on the economy to juice the market?

I am so far from an expert but nothing makes even basic sense to me anymore.

The Dow plunged 1,153 points, suffering its worst single-day crash in over a year. The S&P 500 fell 1.5%. The Nasdaq slid into correction, wiping out over $1 TRILLION in stock market value.

Toxic triple threat causes economic confidence collapse:

For Trump, who uses the stock market as his personal scorecard, today is a humiliation.

OK I have to admit, all of this is confusing....if yesterday trump was humiliated, does today's rise mean he's vindicated?

I am so far from an expert but nothing makes even basic sense to me anymore.

If you read garbage, not much makes sense.

The economy is doing well. The semi sell off was due to the koreans being over leveraged, not because their earnings were bad. In fact it's quite the opposite, the earnings are going to be very strong going into the end of the year.

Despite the doomers on this board, the economy is doing very well. Oil prices are a big factor and could tilt the economy either way. But the average price of a gallon of gas in July was cheaper than a gallon in June. So it will be interestin to see how that pans out.

Expect a tug of war between oil prices, the iran war, interest rates, verse strong corporate earnings, AI growth, and record R&D from the companies.

What doesn't make sense?

A lot of increased force in the market today into the end of the month in a very oversold market is purely mechanical.

I have to believe that going back for a good many years, any fomc announcement that produced a ndx or spx move of 1% or greater, the following day was a significant 1 day reversal.

Options expirations, new passive index investing inflow, bearish sentiment.

Tomorrow we have end of month AND Friday headline risk.
