IIRC, Bill Moos said that the team’s performance at Minnesota was the nail in the coffin for the Mike Riley era. Looks like history is repeating itself.

It should be but nothing is a given about Nebraska expect losing close games.

Remember three years ago when Frost blew out Minnesota and we thought that was the beginning of the turnaround?

And will Martinez return for another year also?
I can understand Frost getting another year but 2AM cannot be QB next year...some people need to be fired. Time to see if Frost can grow up and make some tough choices for the betterment of the team

For all the talk of progress, Frost's best season was his first one. Finished the year 4-2 and the 2 losses were very close games against Ohio State in the shoe and a good Iowa team. Almost all the losses that year were close games(Michigan withstanding).

There hasn't been any progress since year 1.

I don't think Frost is let go this year. Just a hunch

How can you retain a coach with 4 losing seasons in 4 years, and a 75th-ranked recruiting class coming in? What gives you optimism that this coaching staff can compete for championships in the future?

Mike Riley in Big Ten conference play (26 games): .462 winning percentage.

Scott Frost in Big Ten conference play (31 games): .323 winning percentage.

How can you understand Frost getting another year? Would anyone alive including Frost himself believed he would deserve a 5th year with his record if you told them when he was hired?

And how much more time does he get to show he can grow up? I think he has had plenty of opportunity already and has already shown that he can not.
If Frost is back next season. Martinez will be back. That's Frost's boy and Martinez has nothing better to do.

If Trev doesn’t show Scott the door, then I just lost all respect for Trev. No way Frost deserves another year. No way….and I actually like Scott Frost.

Smilin' Mike was better. Bring him and his little bicycle back if that's all you expect from Nebraska Football.

It should be the case that another losing season will end Frost's time here. Will it be? I think it will. No way a coach at Nebraska should ever have four losing seasons in a row, losing the games as we do due to endless mistakes. If Frost does not get to six wins (and I do not see how he can) he most definitely should be fired. A lot depends on who Trev can try and get. If there are no real good candidates out there I can see him, maybe, asking Frost to make staff changes only. But my gut says Frost is toast.

The sad thing is that when Frost gets fired, I'm going to have to Google the nobody we hire to replace him. As I did Mike Riley.

Because we are a bottom feeder program that cannot get a sniff from a current successful D-1 coach. Trev might need a little more time to research the smaller programs to see if we can find a diamond in the rough and let that buyout diminish.

Nah, I have no reason to doubt Albert's at the moment. Eichorst was a disaster from the start.

If our basketball program can hire Fred Hoiberg, our football program can hire a better coach than Frost. We might not get a big name, but plenty of good coaches will be interested in a Big Ten job that pays $5 million/year.

Nebraska is not going to get a big name. Accept that fact and you will sleep better.

Of all Power Five programs, Nebraska is the worst geographically for recruiting. The state produces very few elite recruits, and surrounding states Wyoming, South Dakota, and North Dakota do even worse. Geographically there are no other Power Five programs farther from recruiting hotbeds Florida, Texas, California, and Georgia. The state is known for cows and corn, and is about as sexy as a tub of cottage cheese.

The best they can do is hire a young, extremely talented nobody and let him build a program. Give him all of the money he needs to hire a good staff who can recruit. Basically, a Scott Frost, only with talent and ability.
