yeah texas doesn’t look like the 5th best team to me.And scoring at will on the 5th ranked team in the nation.

FoxI’m too lazy to look up but I would swear to God that Jones dude has been at Texas since Karl Towns played at UK.
Zags playing well plays a huge part on that IMO.yeah texas doesn’t look like the 5th best team to me.
Yes. Regression doesn't imply they weren't still good, but they weren't playing at the level they appeared to be earlier in the season. They honestly should have lost to UCLA.They regress to playing for a title?
you could be rightZags playing well plays a huge part on that IMO.
Huh? IN the past 7 seasons, they have..............Been to 6 straight SW 16's.... 4 elite 8's... 2 FF's, and lost twice in the title game. Had the 2019-20 season not been cancelled, they'd probably, AT WORSE, have another SW 16, or better...Gonzaga seems to always look good early on. Then when they play their awful conference schedule, they seem to regress every year.
Thinking the same thing...Texas looks like a team who has a bunch of independent parts with not much time on the court working together.
Considering they usually begin the season beating the hell out of teams and looking like a championship team, it's a regression. But you are entitled to your own opinion too!Huh? Riiiight......They beat the **** out of teams----look like a title contender---only to lose in the National title game twice, and make 4 Elite 8's in the past 6 full seasons.Considering they usually begin the season beating the hell out of teams and looking like a championship team, it's a regression. If they didn't regress they could have won it instead of losing to the level of teams they were beating the crap out of to start the season. I guess for an IU fan that is good enough.Riiiight......They beat the **** out of teams----look like a title contender---only to lose in the National title game twice, and make 4 Elite 8's in the past 6 full seasons.
Yeah---big time regression.
I htinnk their b/c is gonna be just fine. Nembhard is a senior....solid. Rasir Bolton is a great pick-up via transfer. Averaged 15ppg for Iowa State. Time will tell with Salis and Hickman.Let's see how Gonzaga's guards develop before we crown them. Timme's a beast but they lost a LOT in the backcourt. Texas is a team full of transfers and Dylan Disu still isn't cleared to play and he may end up being their best player. It's going to be interesting to see how Beard gets that team to gel.
Eh, I’m pretty sure they are everyone’s super bowl in the WCC.Gonzaga will never get the respect they want from everyone until they join a real conference and have to deal with the struggle of playing teams without the huge talent gap every game. Beating a good team out of conference early on isn't the same as beating them later in the season when they are at their best.
Just look at what we have to go through when you have a conference that every team circles the date of our game and makes it a big event. Gonzaga doesn't know anything about being everyone's t-shirt game.![]()
I think 2 National title games and 4 Elite 8's, in 6 seasons would be good enough for any fan...If they didn't regress they could have won it instead of losing to the level of teams they were beating the crap out of to start the season. I guess for an IU fan that is good enough.
Ummmm, every single WCC has the GU game circled....Gonzaga will never get the respect they want from everyone until they join a real conference and have to deal with the struggle of playing teams without the huge talent gap every game. Having a bunch of mid majors (when Gonzaga has the equivalent of a power 5 roster) circling the game isn't the same as the grind of playing all power 5 teams. Right now they only have to get up for a few games or get beat compared to a whole conference of teams gunning for them.Ummmm, every single WCC has the GU game circled....
What conference you play in is sort of irrelevant. You are either good, or not. They are really good , every year, and would compete for conference titles, easily in the B10, ACC, SEC, B12...

Ehh, I disagree. But, again, not something I would expect a modern-day IU fan to understand.I think 2 National title games and 4 Elite 8's, in 6 seasons would be good enough for any fan...
You are abusing the word regress.... Or simply don't understand what it means, or how to use it. Maybe both.
Chris Beard, that’s a coach.
So by the context, everyone regresses , except the team that wins the title, or gets to a FF? Makes sense.Ehh, I disagree. But, again, not something I would expect a modern-day IU fan to understand.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/regress they seem to disagree. It's a toss-up for who I should trust though. A random poster on a anonymous message board, or Merriam-Webster...![]()
Not at all. For instance, UCLA last year. They overachieved, but improved dramatically over the tournament. So by the context, everyone regresses , except the team that wins the title, or gets to a FF? Makes sense.
What does me being an IU fan have to with anything? Such a dumb statement. Gonzaga has been to 6 straight SW 16's(was 31-2 in 2019-20, and probably at worse another SW 16)......Been to 4 Elite 8's in that same span...Played for two National titles.
How in the world is that "regressing"? What, b/c they lost 4 times, one game short of a FF? Or lost twice in the national title game? Bro its tough getting to a FF.....much less winning the title. Sometimes, great teams lose....SOmetimes the better team doesn't win. That happens.
Would you, as a UK fan take the past 6 seasons GU has had?
6 SW 16's
4 Elite 8's
2 Runner-up
Ooof. Timme is a damn good player though. What was telling though is he was the only one that could hang with those Baylor athletes in the NC game.Beard is a fine coach but letting Timme drop 40 on them is questionable. Definitely not a good look.
Since 1999, Gonzaga has went to the SW 16 or better 5 times----as a 4 seed or worse. Four times as a double digit seed...To add to that most good teams lose a few in conference games in power five conferences. In better conferences the talent gap isn't near the same. A bad team in a good conference can have a great night and beat an off night great team. Power five teams get lower seeds due to those losses. The Zags get an easier path each year because they play nothing but cupcakes in conference. They pretty much lock up a top 4 seed if they manage to win in the early preconference games. This only adds to the disrespect they get from most fans of the game. From the beginning of the season there are only three number one seeds left available. It's a bad situation and everyone knows it.
