Street Sweepers?

So I note the Street Sweepers are out in Garner this week
I wonder why? There is not garbage on the streets, just tree spring stuff.My little street has not curbs, so when it rains eventually the tree stuff will be filtered out in the ditches?

It's to keep dirt, cigarette butts, etc. from stopping up the drain pipes. My town cleans them every day year round to keep the drainage pipes clear. It works.

Wow. They used to clean our street in Durham seemingly weekly and I was surprised at how often they came by. I never thought about the sewage system. I thought it was overkill.

Not necessary, as it was my pleasure to serve. I was 18 and living in the financial capital of Europe instead of being sent to Vietnam. I re-enlisted while over there and stayed for 4 years. Not a bad place to grow up. I had a blast visiting other countries and explored Germany including checkpoint charlie at the Berlin wall and Dachau. Not to mention Octoberfest, funny thing was everywhere you went the German nationals would try me to drink me under the table... I lost a lot which in some ways was a win.

When I moved out to Northern Wake County there was a company named Athey located on South Main Street which built street sweepers. Their location is now The Factory.
