SP and Tuscola

The sandwich maker speaks, and several more fans around the world chime in....they beckon the great one to come out. I will make a statement then. You're welcome. I like this game. First time SP has played an opponent that wouldn't have been beaten by BMS since about 5 weeks into the season. Tuscola will be tough. We know this from the many clashes we've had with them and theirs (mountain folk stick together when it's all said and done....so no matter how rivalrous Tuscola, Pisgah, Enka, ETC. are....they all want this win for far western NC football): we know that they will be tough, dirty and well coached. Expect some shoving. Some late hits. Expect high flying yellow flags and overzealous loud mouthed women in the stands complaining about calls that they nothing about or outright making up accusations on the spot. This will be from both sides. All the while, the Sandwich maker will be churning out 24 pimento cheese sandwiches in parts unknown/Greensboro area as she listens on the radio, and THE GREAT ONE will be feather-cooled by some young maidens as the game is taken in.
You want predictions? I will give you predictions. Predictions so accurate that sweet Simmons will go to calling me for advice (AGAIN!!!!). So, the game will be tested upfront, and the funny part is SPs left side OL is very good. Middle to right.......I have great hopes for. The DL for SP is very good. Front 7 is great vs. terrible teams. I think the DL hides our LB play vs. straight on power runs pretty good. I'm anticipating that will be the key to this victory for SP...the DL slowing down runs and not putting our LBs in one on ones to make tackles. As long as the DL does this, and we don't try to throw the d#mn ball 7-10 times - SP wins 27-20 in a highly contested, hard fought battle.
I anticipate Tuscola will be tough, as they still do make tough kids in and around Waynesville....kinda like parts of Belmont still does.

If South Point doesn't stop them at the line, it could be a long night for the Raiders. Pisgah did a very good job of that in the second half of that game.

OMG! It is game day! All of Waynesville is empty as they loaded their wagons this morning and headed for the flatlands. Just finished my turkey sandwich for dinner and checked on Mickey and the boys. They are having their normal pregame playoff meal of 10 penny nails and diesel fuel. Mickey is happy as my knee has not healed and I am out for the game. Otherwise the team is healthy and ready. What a great weekend for HS football. Safe travels to all. OMG it is Raidertime!

Tuscola drew first blood, but the Raiders blocked the XP. SP later scored to take a 7-6 lead.

Tuscola recovered a SP fumble at the Tuscola 5. However, Nick Muse gets a pick 6 to add to the Raiders score - SP 35-6

Red Raiders put another 3 with a FG and quickly followed that up with a 6 yd TD by Ray Grier after a pick by Nathan Hamiltom.

Total domination. Tuscola running game was shut down completely and SP turned them into a passing team resulting in 4 picks. SP controlled both lines all night and it was never in doubt. Alexander had a big night running the ball. Great win for the Raiders!

Playing those teams like Crest, Lincolnton, Shelby and Clover is paying big dividends now. It was a very painful process but the kids have grown up.

Bears going to treat y'all like some Waffle House hash browns...scattered, smothered and covered.

Oh we will keep this quote and play it back to you next Friday night. Did you not see the score tonight? It was not an overtime squeaker against the Mountaineers. We expect the same results next week. Be happy if you can score against the Raider defense.

Per the Gaston Gazette:
"During its current seven-game win streak, South Point has outscored its opponents 369-27."

Getting it done when it counts!

We are not a one-dimensional team like the Mounties. May not matter, but you will have to scheme for both this week.

Come on down and enjoy your trip. We will instruct you Friday night what a real defense looks like and what option football really means. You will witness firsthand what multi dimension means. I promise you it will not go to overtime. Running clock is more like it.

This sounds a lot like the previous two teams we played that ran the option... Granted neither of those teams could have passed if we would have laid down and left every receiver on the field uncovered

Hey Bears fans. By the sounds of this we should probably save school funds and just go ahead and cancel the trip and forfeit the game!
