So where do the 2 wins come from?

If you go down on the floor, turn on the flashlight on your cell, and look under your couch then you may find some loose change or a missing kid’s toy, but you won’t find 2 wins under there. Same goes for Greg’s couch, he doesn’t have two wins under his couch either.
that's funny, well played

Seriously doubt that we get any more wins.SAd but true. This season has been one of the most disappointing ones .I guess all of the injuries played a big role in the let down.FfB is. a brutally violent game so are practices.Probably as many guys hurting from non game injuries as from games. You have to hit in practice and when you do it is all up for grabs

We won’t lose out, there’s no way. If you’re saying only 1 more win, I could see that, but “ofer “?? No I don’t see that.

I think there’s going to be some personal and scheme evaluation on D this week.
Let's hope so, though that should have happened a few weeks ago.

What’s the status of KM? If he’s available I still feel 2 is possible.

None of the offenses are world beaters (which can be our kryptonite) and a couple are mistake prone at times so then the games can be close and then who knows.

Based on recent results, it looks like the 2 best chances are Maryland and Illinois.
If we are able to pull off those 2 wins, and get to a bowl game.

How would we grade this season?

Obviously the results of the potential bowl game would be a significant factor as well.

Sagarin's latest ratings have us right in there with Maryland and Michigan State.
Illinois would be a reach.
Minnesota doesn't look possible.

4 wins: A+
3 Wins A-
2 Wins B (B- with a bowl loss, B+ with win)
1 Win: C
0: F
Season grade
4 wins B ( 4 straight losses kill A score)
3 wins C ( after 4-0 winding up 7-5 isn't worth a good grade but deserves a decent grade)
2 wins D ( being bowl eligible makes for passing grade but a 6-6 record is nothing to write home to mother about)
1 win F ( not being bowl eligible is a failing grade for the season)
0 wins F and a dunce cap ( starting off 4-0 and losing the next 8 in a row is an utter failure and deserves more than just an F . The hat is for incompetence )

Any chance at even one win depends on our ability to play at least mediocre defense. Not sure how we will do that though...

If we end the season with 4 straight wins to get to 8-4, that is B+ minimum. A strong finish and a strong overall record would outweigh 4 midseason losses.

7-5 is a B. 6-6 C.

5-7 D

4-8 I'll agree is an F.

Ya agree. Much of the recent criticism is around Schiano directing an outdated offense.

But the defense tanking is the real issue.

The bye week will help us, but Minny is playing well right now. Think we'll compete this week, but the warts eventually show. We could still win one or two, but I've already penciled in an F for Greg and this senoir-laden team. No signs that we'll be anything but a B10 doormat moving forward into next year.

We couldn't find a way to beat a rebuilding Nebraska or Ucla at home for homecoming. We were not close to competitive for Wisc. and not really for a depleted USC team either.

If we lack depth this year to deal with injuries, just think of next year. Minus well just play more K. Sanders, Clawges, Levy, Black, Duff and Raymond and start the "we are young" mantra now. Hell, let's see what Surace can do.

Not sure I would call UCLA rebuilding. They had a decent amount of talent, and they played tougjt teams before RU. Seems their offense clicked against us and they went on to defeat Nebraska.

The fact that we brought back everyone should have meant we would be in a pretty good place if injuries did arise.

So while the injuries have certainly hurt us, it's not the excuse some make it to be.

It depends on how much quick recovery comes after the bye week..
Last year we played Ohio St really tough, but were completely worn out by Maryland.
By the bowl game, team was rested & prepared & defeated Miami in the Bowl..
Minnesota is the best team remaining.
If we can pull out a win there, 3 wins is very possible..

Greg said at the press conference that "some things were encouraging which we can build off". Could someone ask him to expand? Not sure what he could be talking about. Went to bed in the second half so maybe I missed something.

Sooo.. venerable one... how happy are you now? I know you're not like some of those here who just despise Schiano for some reason... you just lost hope during a rough time.

But it worked out.. even with hope for some more wins. Schiano does have a knack for winning bowl games.

I love when these type of threads get pulled up again. It just reiterates the absolute ridiculous emotional based takes this board regularly has. Sooo many folks still have not realized that major negative absolutes posted based on emotion do not apply in college football despite being college football fans. To those that expressed optimism in this thread I tip my hat to you maybe some others can learn to as well.

Although we didn’t have the big boys on the schedule, you’re generally not going to win every 40-60, 60–40 and 50-50 game. Although we didn’t have a brutal schedule, we have only been favored in 4 games and have won 6.

I'd like to see us pull all the plays and stops out of the book to beat Ill and then rest our starters and key kids for the MSU game.

Maryland is having a horrible season as well. They are 25 point underdogs this weekend. A Rutgers victory over the Terrapins is not out of the question; not sure why anybody would rule that out...
Looks like our resident Maryland /Rutgers fan had a more level head than most of us.
