I'd wait til the whoregate sanctions hit, then take it down. You can't honor a coach who runs a whorehouse for minors out of a school dorm named for his dead brother in law. (That's a sentence I never thought I'd type, but we're talkin UL here)
You're right but he hasn't called anyplace else Camelot. UK might not have made Pitino but UK did a lot more for him than he did for UK. We were a blue blood program before he came, after he left and will be when he hangs it up. I'll give him his due for what he did at the time but no more, no less. Leave his banner up so he can see it every time he comes in for his *** whipping. That way he can continue to ponder "only if."Pitino was in the Final Four before he came to UK. Pitino won a NCAA title after he left UK, UK did not make Pitino.
People, it's not going to happen. Some of you haven't been alive long enough to know what a phone book is, now you want to erase my favorite time as uk fan and put a stain on it. ")
Seriously leave it be. He's two different people in my mind. The uk Rick, and that other one. Honeslty, he did more for uk than words can sum up sometimes. You might not like it, but it's the truth.
Bozo called it a hoedown. Lol. He's either really funny or really stupid.
How about we get the wheels rolling on the OP never starting another GD moronic thread?
Controversial take, but I've enjoyed Rick's time here at UK more than I have Cal's. His UK teams were much more enjoyable and fun to watch than Cal's.
really great insights Card fan. You must be a Card fun with such an intelligent rebuttal. So much false in this.
My money is on the latter.Bozo called it a hoedown. Lol. He's either really funny or really stupid.
Please. I give him credit for what UK accomplished under him, but what he did today changes that. You live in that culture for 15 years. You become that. Defend him if you want. Low class move from a low class person.
it is because he is a horrible human being . I honestly don't care that he used to coach us and now coaches UL. I mean is it shady ? sure but it is the way he lies , lies , lies and makes excuses and runs from responsibility . He is just a piece of trash . He and Urban Meyer are the 2 biggest phonies in the history of coaching and both would shank their mother to win a game and then cry crocodile tears about the passing of said mother .I know I've asked this before, but I forgot... is all the hate for Pitino simply because he coaches Louisville? Did he say something in particular against the University or its fans?
I'm not defending Pitino's actions of today, what I'm defending is what he did when he was at UK. For me, that's FAR more important than what he's done now or the last 15 years
Rick sure does some strange stuff now, wonder what he did while he was here that we don't know about or choose to ignore. I think the banner should stay up there. I hope he leaves coaching soon because you just don't know where his strange behavior will lead, he says outlandish stuff and ducks the media after losses. He isn't handling the last years of his career very well. He would have been better off at someplace other than UL
Agree, Forde has run interference for Pitino for years. Now he sees the handwriting on the wall and he's attempting to get some cred back with a couple of parting shots. Ain't workin.Forde and Bozich turning on Pitino HAS to be a sign of the apocalypse.
So you're ok with a banner in Rupp honoring him and him saying &*!@#!! to the UK fans? Really? Not me. Bad enough he chose to go to Louisville. Bad enough he got a U of L tattoo. But to give the finger at Rupp to UK fans. Nope. You don't deserve to be honored at Rupp.I'm not defending Pitino's actions of today, what I'm defending is what he did when he was at UK. For me, that's FAR more important than what he's done now or the last 15 years
I remember very well. I also remember that same man flipping the finger to those same fans today. You can justify if you want. Winning a title at UK is not a free pass to do whatever you want. He's a grade a punk who can't handle a loss like a man.Absolutely NOT. Anyone that doesn't remember or isn't old enough to remember what that man did for Kentucky should NEVER have a say in this issue. While I hate what's happened to him and how he's handled himself, he deserves to be in that arena more than anyone but Coach Rupp and Mr. Wildcat.
To those that remember, 'Don't let what he's become cloud your judgement on what he used to be.'
Him throwing that middle finger up in Rupp arena is unacceptable. I don't give a crap how much success he had here.I remember very well. I also remember that same man flipping the finger to those same fans today. You can justify if you want. Winning a title at UK is not a free pass to do whatever you want. He's a grade a punk who can't handle a loss like a man.
Then should they take Ritchie Farmer's down?
No. Just no. Look at what Indiana is going through. We can debate all we want about how much being at UK contributed to Pitino's success, but there was not a line of Hall of Fame coaches waiting to take the job when he did. We owe him a debt whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. That way he can continue to ponder "only if."
Leave it up and show some respect
Like the respect he showed to the fans when he basically said f you to them when he flipped them off? To get respect you have to give respect. Him acting like a p.o.s. sore loser doesn't earn him any respect.Leave it up and show some respect
The Banner represents great moments in Kentucky history, nothing more. Take whatever judgments you have about pitino and do what you want but leave our history alone.
Meh, you'd have a point if the op was talking about taking down the Final 4 banners and Championship banner that the teams won, but that's not the case here. The Banner represents great moments in Kentucky history, nothing more. Take whatever judgments you have about pitino and do what you want but leave our history alone.
To top it off, he gave a UK fan the finger. .
Nah. What Rick accomplished at UK can never be taken away. Part of me wonders how I will feel 10 years down the road if Rick tries to reach out to BBN. The way the U of L thing is ending, I don't see him staying connected with that program after he resigns.
