Let's fly Pitino's name in the garage where we keep the lawnmowers at UK. Seriously. Find a setting suitable for his accomplishments these last few years.

Not intending to go that route...just could not resist it when I saw the screen name. Still no response from ole piggy boy...

At this point, the 2nd worse team in Cal's great run @ UK. And Rick still can't close the deal.

Shame on the refs for allowing that end of game shot to not be waved off.

Looking at the big picture of all the disgrace Pitino has brought to the great state of Kentucky and to cap that off with flying the bird on his way out the door in what is more than likely his last trip into Rupp for a UK/UL game, then there is a LOT of symbolism there. Too much to overcome. I think this is the tipping point that was necessary to get his name out of the rafters as that's just too much to ask for UK fans to tolerate this man any further. Too much.

Sry I kinda of agree now we should, even though he may of did alot for UK..UK made him, he didnt make UK..and the finger gesture he did to UK fans today was uncall for, no matter if he was being heckled..1) he coached at UK should respect that fact 2) its unbecoming for ANY coach to behave that way

Come on guys...Pitino was just throwing up an "L" but he got his stinky fingers tangled up. You know..."L Yeah!"

I would be willing to bet that the OP was at UK about the same time as I was, late 80s/early 90s?

I was a huge Pitino fan back in the those days and have had a lot of animosity for him since he has been at UL, but at some point all that hate will eat you up. I still feel the betrayal, but we have the best coach in the business right now. Enjoy your team OP, not worth getting all worked up about RP.

And this is the type of fan who I mistakenly assumed RP was probably responding to...the small, but vocal, classless minority. Hypocrisy would be someone like Pikespeak spewing his vulgarity and then crying when he gets a response in kind.

However, upon seeing the video, and realizing that what was said was relatively tame, I agreed with the poster who said the banner should come down.

There's a huge difference between a fan acting in that manner and someone who gets paid millions to represent one of our state's public universities doing so on the job and in public. You need to acknowledge this distinction and stop playing devil's advocate.

There's no need. We know what happened here. It was hilarious because it's indefensible. There's simply no excuse for his behavior, and we should all revel in his fall from grace.

For the most part, I certainly agree with everything you said. The small part of me that is playing devils advocate is the part that remembers that about 30 years ago, I was at most games & I was one of those fans who were sometimes vulgar, and less that classy at times. :) I sorta cringe now thinking of some things I & my friends hollered at Bobby Knight, as well as Dale Brown on occasion. I wouldn't have blamed them at all if they'd given me the finger!!! And rarely was what I was yelling the worst of what they were hearing. Sometimes it was pretty brutal.

Someone was yelling (clearly), 'put it down, Rick, put it down!"

I wonder if it was the same guy who walked behind the bench at UK in the 90's when Pitino had a lousy team and said, 'if it were a horse, Rick, you'd put it down.'
