We consistently recruit the higheat ranked classes in our division. Currently I believe Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern sit ahead of us in the rankings. When all is said and done are you concerned that we’ll finish behind these 3 teams? It all starts in our division. Get to the B1G Championship for a chance to win. We have the recruiting capability for that, it just needs to end up as that on the field..
you got your wish this year....i just happened to be in Basketball instead

We’re Number 1!
We’re Number 1!
I guess that goes against the idea that we're being very selective.

Bingo. Once we get some development we’ll more than likely see it pay off.

Maybe Iowa outta try something new, because right now all an offer from Iowa means is going 7-5. Throw some more offers out there because they can develop. 4* at Iowa is something I hope to never see.

Not really. Nebraska and the Midwest in general does not have a ton of close proximity talent. So Frost and Co are trying to "cast a wide net" so to speak. To basically say, "hey we are interested in learning more , are you interested as well" Many recruiting experts say that kids will not take a visit to a school without an offer.
Just because Nebraska has offered a kid doesn't mean Nebraska automatically has to take them. Held I believe explained it better. He said there are very small % of kids with offers who are labeled as a top priority. Those kids can commit at any time they want, and Nebraska would take them. For the vast majority of other offers the coaching staff needs to dig deeper into them and see if they would be a good fit and if they are someone they really want on the team. So basically we are not being very selective with offers. They become selective later on. Look at it from a job/ interview stand point. An employer may look through hundreds of applications. They will then sort them into a pile of maybe 50 who fit a general criteria. From those 50 they will start to dig deeper and look more closely. To eventually narrow down to a few top applicants they really want.

This ^. A recent story discussed how part of the strategy is figuring out who could make unofficial visits, which have become very important as many kids understandably want to see a school more than once before committing.
Kids from far away aren’t going to make unofficial visits w/o an offer. And the offered prospects who will visit is still small, hence the need for the wide net. Geography is a driving factor.
Once the program starts dominating again (wink) I’m sure the offer list will shrink some.

The offer count doesn't have anything to do with selectivity. Different programs have different strategies for building their pool of players to choose from. The offer count thing is an enormous straw man that some programs like to use as a way to say, "hey, when we offer, we mean it". They are just different strategies in play to try to accumulate the best recruiting class and program fit possible.

We've pretty much turned the roster over already, and not sure what the class size will be this year. Scholarship distribution says we have 14 seniors, so based on that, what would be a good ballpark number? 17-19?

We have been doing a far better job than recent memory, so no alarm bells going off yet for me. We also have to start producing results on the field. I think it will come together and don't see anything that gives me concern at present.

They will lose 15 scholarship players after the 2019 season. I would imagine, there will be a few more stragglers who turnover as well. They might be able to stretch it up to 20, but the class will still be smaller than usual.

OWH's scholarship distribution chart shows 15 seniors and 81/85 spots filled. Would think that at least Hixson gets one of those, so 18 spots are open. It's possible that a couple of 4th year juniors move on in addition to a couple of younger guys failing to thrive once they get here. I would say 20-22 spots for next year.

I think you are close to 100% correct on this. They talked/addressed this on sports nightly recently. They said that NU is treating offers as a way to open the communication. An offer doesn't mean it's a"committable offer" unless it's the guy at the top of the list of that particular position.

It’s always been so strange to me when people bring Jesus up like this. First of all, it’s offensive to a lot of people and second, why do it? Why insert His name into the conversation when it doesn’t even make sense?

It adds emphasis, humor, color, profanity, spice, fun, and a little controversy! That's the whole point of swearing and hyperbole!

Really, life is so boring that using His name in that context actually provides those things for you? It is offensive to many.

I see Iowa finishing really strong...and once again signing a generic Top 50 football class.

They’re just really selective in who they offer and accept...

If I were telling you this in person then I wouldn’t be able to hold a straight face...

Mighty, mighty Iowa..lol
