Bevin is a huge UL fan. So is McConnell. So there's that.

But at least he had the nads enough to do something.

That is stupid. Actually he is perfectly suited to do what NO ONE from previous administrations had the courage to do.
I honestly have no idea if this is correct but he's not starting off well. He hired an ex ul basketball player to be in charge of the Chum Bucket. That looks wrong to me.

Question?
Does Ramsey ever come back to the U.S. Or does he avoid any prosecution and extradition by remaining overseas and living off his likely enormous Swiss or Cayman bank account?

this does not involve the athletic dept directly but the ul foundation has been shielded by the board and ramsey and one could argue that a lot of their dealings are unconstitutional/criminal. a nonprofit org buying up property to rent to "education and research" co's is one thing but they are buying up property everywhere and renting out to anyone.... tax free.

I really can't see Jurich (IMO the person who has fostered and allowed the cultivation of the slimy culture within the UofL athletic department) losing his job. Just not gonna happen. And I'm thinking as unbelievable as it is, the longer it goes, the less likely it is for Pitino to be let go.

However, Pitino's may depend on the NCAA ruling.

If he is indicted, he better have his money in other places than the Caymans or Switzerland if he intends to keep it.

If they hire from within this means absolutely nothing. If they do a genuine nationwide search then Pitino (and possibly Jurich's) days are numbered.
nah. The final candidates will have it "explained" to them how we do it around here, meaning athletics is very important to the culture of Louisville and despite a couple of hiccups we want you to know just how important both Tom Jurich and Rick Pitino are to this city and state, and can you assure us that if you get this job you'll be able to work with those two fine men?...

hahahaha wow, the board members were NOT notified until the announcement. Having worked with UK board members and kind of knowing the type, I bet they went totally apoplectic.

You KNOW this was to circumvent Matt Jones and his "mole(s)" don't you?
UofL simply didn't want KSR posting this ahead of time and once again making them look like goofs.

You know. It's sad. When kids (players) are held to a higher standard.

I still can't fathom how Pitino said he blew a load in 15 seconds! To a jury a court reporter. With a 'ho on a kitchen table. And it ran down his leg per court quote.

Are you kidding me?!?

How does he still have anyone's respect? What a joke of a man.

In the end, I think Jurich survives and Pitino resigns prior to upcoming season. Just an opinion.

Just a thought, Governor has power to appoint and replace board members and thus power to force Ramsey to resign now or get fired.

Jurich and Pitino are responsible to UofL. Governor doesn't have as much direct control. Maybe he asked them and they said no. Or maybe Gov knows his planned replacements will do so in short order.

UL is an athletics only institution. maybe they can do away with all their second rate "academics" and focus even more on snatching up second chance leftovers.

can't wait for jurich to meet the new prez.

the fbi is still investigating misuse of funds at ul. this isn't getting swept under the rug by new people until that investigation is concluded. no one is gonna step into that mess if they don't have to. the fbi can jack up your life if you are on their radar. i think the new guys will work with the fbi about as openly as they possibly can.

Well...yeah...that's what I said would happen if they hire from within.

But if you think a real academic would be told how to run his university then uofl has corrupted your thinking too.

Not aware of the legality of this move - I assume the entire Board serves at the pleasure and discretion of the governor, and that he can fie them all at once if he decides to do so. Still, knowing the egos typically present on this kind of board - and especially given the politicized nature/persona of the Bevin administration to date - won't surprise me in the least if some of these board members threaten legal action. Even if it's likely fruitless....

"yes, i'm concerned about how this will affect the university as a whole, but i'm also very concerned about how Tom Jurich and Coach Pitino will accept it."

lmao, love these people who didn't even go to UL and that care more about the softball team's success than the school's academic rep. good call ACC. they threw their academic crap out the window with addition of scum u.

What's that? Replace a group of corrupt individuals with a separate group of corrupt individuals that are close friends with him? If so, I agree. Bevin is perfectly suited to do this.

Yeah, there was no lack of ego in the BoT meetings I've worked.

He has not replaced anyone yet. Why not wait and see. He is to be provided a list of 30 names and from that list he will select 10. You should wait before shooting off your mouth further.

Give credit where credit is due: Gov. Bevin drops an a-bomb on the UofL administration, sacking Ramsay and castrating the board in one fell swoop. Beshear didn't have the balls to do this.

Pretty sure Beshear appointed everyone on that Board. No way he was gonna can them. He didn't have the balls to do much of anything while he was governor. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I think we've all seen plenty from Bevin already. You have a nice day.
