This game was not as close as the score would indicate. Rutgers OL and DL line looked like a Pop Warner group going up against all pros on the other side of the ball. Elway, Marino etc. in their prime wouldn't have done much better. If it had been Trevor Lawrence he probably would've thought he was on the Jets already.

Nuts Art wouldn't do well with the pressure the PSU dl is bringing, they are the 2nd most talented team we'll play all season after OSU **** i'm just hoping we don't get shutout.

youve got to try Art and at least run the quick plays he ran against Wisconsin, which allowed him to pass for more than 200+ yards.

Vedrals ball take forever to get to the receiver. We can’t even execute a simple bubble screen. It is so messed up. Need a stronger arm. Without it the defense can gear up for run and cram it down our throats. Sucks for the defense to do the cramming, but that’s what happens with a weak arm qb. It is just too easy for the defense. They came in 100% geared to jam up the run and had zero respect for the pass. No brainer game plan and we stayed with the weak arm all game despite their strategy. They stink...we stunk worse.

Imagine how pathetic the offense would have looked if PSU had Micah Parsons at MLB
2% worse than his replacement? Let's do the math.. MLB is 1/11 players.. that's 9%.. his replacement is likely also a top recruit.. so.. maybe 80% as good.. 20% of 9% is roughly 2%.. so the math checks out. And we do not throw over the middle.. so 2% worse is a bit high.

We all know what happens when Art gets pressured....
I dunno.. maybe we should get to see that again... in, say the last 4 minutes of a game we will lose.

How about this thought for OC Gleeson... last week, no Vedral and lots of Kudos... this week.. almost all Vedral and people doubt you.

Maybe if you stuck Sitkowski in late then the grass is greener crowd might shut up if he fails... but when you do that.. stop calling Vedral-type plays for Sitkowski.. he does some things better.. and some things worse. PS.. we are lucky to have you.. but c'mon.. play fake on 3rd and forever?

Don't see the difference? Vedral critics cite what actually happens THIS YEAR and today.. you Sitkowski haters PROJECT what failures you want to assign to him.
You? Excuse me? I have not said a word about Art this year other than him doing a nice job last week.
Same old, same old. The quarterback(s) on the bench are better than the one who spent most of the game on his back and/or on the run behind a porous OL.

Art deserved an opportunity to show what he could do, especially given the way he played last week. If it failed, it failed, but at least you’ve exhausted all your options. Now we’re left to wonder what might have been.

He has that opportunity during the week.

id rather see a bunch of ints and long bombs with Art in rather than these 5yd pass plays with Vedral when we are playing from behind down 2 or 3 possessions. Go big or go home.

exactly, if nothing else, playing Art should open things up for the running game because teams know that Vedral cant throw an effective long ball, which hurts the effectiveness of the running game.

Nobody deserves anything in this world, and neither do football players sitting on the bench. Football players earn their time in the game.

Artur earned his opportunity via his effectiveness in last weeks game against Purdue. Artur has as many wins as Vedral this season. That alone should have given Artur an opportunity when Vedral proved to be ineffective in H1.

It’s funny that it’s only the QB position. No one says let’s try the backup guard or tackle because they might be able to block better.

The crappy Purdue team that got manhandled by a crappy Nebraska team? No. That's not how time is earned.

we scored 7 pts vs PSU today. We lost by 16. Is that how time is earned?
We can not block people. And they sniffed out a series of nice misdirection plays. We couldn't throw deep because of pressure, we couldn't throw short because of man lock, we couldn't run inside because they killed us on the interior, we couldn't stretch because they killed us on the edge, their lbs sniffed out screen because they didn't need to bring them for heat. What else you want him to do?

Okay.. same message that you replied to but replace "YOU critics" with "THE critics".. the meaning of the message remains the same.

Our passing game was not productive partially because the quarterbacks ball lacks velocity, giving time for defenders to adjust. If you look at Vedrals throws, He rarely hits his receivers in stride, they have to adjust to the ball, which is partially why our passing plays aren’t very effective for the most part, and why our average yards per pass play is only 3.8, a paltry amount. This is also why defenders have time to adjust to the ball and had a number of pass breakups. Haven’t looked at the stats, but it sure seemed to me that PSU had more pass breakups than any other opponent. Artur would have been able to zip the ball in there.

Art has improved and played well at Purdue. He should have gotten a series in the first half today and then at the end of the game. PSU played short field defense all day, bringing in Art would have forced them to change, and maybe we benefit.
In the heat of the moment, I was calling for this as well. In hindsight, it likely would've been a disaster. Art is not as mobile as Noah and historically has not responded well to pressure. As others have pointed out and was evident even to armchair QBs like myself, our lines were not getting it done today on either side of the ball which was the biggest problem. And while Art had a decent showing against Purdue, he also threw a couple of would be INTs that Purdue simply didn't execute.

Vedral added a running component--not like the sledgehammer approach of Langan, but he finds openings and makes things happen with his legs.
Understood, but if Vedral was able to deliver the ball as quickly as Sitkowski, maybe he wouldn't HAVE to make things happen with his legs as often... And if he was able to throw as hard and as accurately as Sitkowski and hit more of his receivers in stride, maybe his receivers would have more chances to make things happen with THEIR legs... The coaches see what happens in practice though, and we don't, so hopefully they're making the best decision.

But as @gef21 has noted, there was no time for downfield passes. PSU DL lived in RU's backfield all day.

Okay, but wouldn't all the quick short passes and sideline stuff have a chance to be more successful with faster and more accurate deliveries?.

They played a lot of press on us. Nothing was open quickly. And we had no time to develop because we couldn't block anything. And we couldn't run screens because they didn't need to blitz they lbs, and we could not run the ball. Our best run play was qb draw
