Alright, fair enough. I don't really get involved in recruiting much at all, I wait until they are here to really think or say much about a kid. In this case, I know the kid (a little bit, I don't want to create the impression I'm an expert on Justin Powell. I am not), and because of that familiarity, I have watched all this more closely than I normally do. And what I see on this board is people being very opinionated when they haven't really seen the kid much if at all, and a lot of those opinions seem wildly off-base (one example, the local impression of him is he is a playmaker, first and foremost, and if he has a future at the D1 level, it's at the 1. He is not regarded as a shooter, despite what he did in a weekend in Atlanta, or even what he might do generally on the Nike Elite circuit). It just strikes me as odd that people seem to hold very strong opinions about something they can't really know much about.
But, as I think about it, that's probably the way recruiting works. The average poster hasn't seen any particular recruit much, if at all, and yet it's not uncommon to see pretty strong opinions.....
Fair points Mojo -- I saw those 3 point #'s in AAU ball against top level competition and was impressed , you get recruited by top 30 type teams tells me your talent is pretty dang high .. and I have no delusions about Ky talent VS the other 49 states , common sense says you must have players from EVERYWHERE , but if you can get a kid like this that will stick for hopefully 4 years and give the roster stability and experience , then take that kid . I think we are seeing you cant win it without experience , they all cant be OAD's .
