I can't disagree with what he is saying, he pretty much nailed the problem at hand.

Man, just say what you really mean.

"I have always supported the paying of players during and after the recruitment process. They deserve to make a living as well. However, I am very against this practice being above the board as it increases competition for bringing top athletes into my program"

I would love to see proof of one single actual negative fallout from NIL

so far, just a bunch of crusty clueless old dudes bellyaching about locker room chemistry while kids earn the money they deserve

if a dinosaur like nick saban wants to take his ball and go home, you can be sure the thing he’s afraid of is GREAT for college football on the whole

For every kid getting paid, there's several more transferring out and not ending up anywhere. There's a lot of negative fallout from NIL and it will only continue.

Said it here before, the world of college football as we know it is fading fast.
I fully expect a non-collegiate developmental league to emerge within the next several years.

kids transferring without a landing spot is hardly new & always a good thing for the player. hard lessons need to be learned early by those who need to focus their time and energy elsewhere (not to mention avoiding potential serious injury by continuing to play).

these kids will be thankful down the road, just like their peers who are earning money from NIL.

if anybody has any actual, documented proof of NIL negatively impacting anyone but the powers that be, I would love to see it

I watched it.

the only problem I see with NIL is people continuing to listen to scumbags like saban, who all of a sudden yearns for everything once again being 'equal' (LOL!)
He made a lot of valid points, irregardless of what college football has been doing under the table for years.

What did he mail , besides talking about himself, Jimbo is one of the biggest cheats and slimeballs in CFB.

That schools like Alabama have been paying players, giving themselves an advantage over the schools following the rules, for a long time (which is true). Seemed pretty obvious, regardless of your feelings about Jimbo.

I agree on the Alabama part, I am saying Jimbo shouldn’t call anybody out for not following rules.

everybody should call everybody out. good old boys club is being burned to the ground as we speak

college football has never been more popular or interesting than at this very moment in time

please list the valid points he made

all I heard was a butthurt old man blubbering 'woe is me' into a microphone

what next? uphill walks to and from the geico offices to hammer his commercial checks?

the times they are a changin'. what's bad for nick saban is unquestionably good for college football on the whole.

Isn’t this what people want? Other schools to have a chance? NIL is not ruining the sport, it’s giving other teams an opportunity. Any idiot could recruit for Bama, ā€œHey five star kid, I’ve never had a kid stay for four years and not win at least one title and I get 48.8% of five stars drafted in the first round, you in?ā€

I don't like jimbo and think texas a&m is as weird and creepy a cult as has ever existed in the US, but I absolutely LOVE this

college football was built on hate. we need more of it!

It is so funny because all these guys know how much "cheating" went on and I am sure still goes on, but they all honor the code.

Don't talk about it to anyone that is not in the coaching business.

I love that Saban at MSU, where the cheating is lowkey compared to LSU and Bama, could not do much at all...but at LSU and Bama where the boosters are happy to help you cheat, the dude is a legend.

And in the NFL where things really are equal due to caps and it's up to you and your team to manage, he was subpar. You can only do so much if gms make dumb $decisions or idiotic drafting

not just subpar, he cried like a b*tch and quit when he couldn't win in the men's league

some things never change, I guess

I mean the years at MSU prove more than the years at Bama.

When he had the resources and boosters to cheat, he all of a sudden could get so many great players.

It isn't like while at MSU he was all confused on how to coach defense and ****.

When he had players that were similar to the lame players of most of the Big Ten teams...he struggled to make bowl games and struggled to finish in the top half of the league.

Then when he played teams that were loaded, he got killed.

Now he is mad because buying players is legal and easy.

The last 10 years he was basically competing against a handful of teams for recruits.
