Are you or the person who liked your post a professional scout?
Obviously not. Not sure how that makes any difference either other than you apparently disagree with my opinion and can’t handle that.

Legit response . Man I hate the system the NBA has produced.

The money just keeps growing. And with the news coverage and social media we're more connected to every step of the process than ever before.

Fifteen years ago Randolph Morris just shows back up and we "find" the fax. Now we follow it live on Snapchat.

File this news under big whoop. TJ said PJ was going to possibly do this and it makes sense . Its not like he would be drafted ( well I guess he might sneak into the last 5 picks or something ) but this is all about getting a evaluation from the NBA and coming back next season and working on what you need to. I think Richards. SKJ and Gabriel should do this as well and bet a few of them do. JV can't due to surgery.

I can't imagine many UK fans are too concerned about this news.

He seems less than borderline. Not a chance he is a 1st rounder. Why declare now? What if he is more than a two year player? Now he cannot go through the process again.

You are a bit behind on the times.

The rules allow him to test every year and retain his eligibility each time.

And so it begins...

If it were truly just about seeing where his stock is then he should have waited til next year to do it. Doing it now feels more like he’s wanting to go.
it is true. you can do it twice btw. why wouldn’t he? good lord.

Dan, you are speaking with emotions and not facts.

137 underclassmen declared for the draft last year, 72 stayed in.

Far from just a UK thing.

Its not JUST a UK thing , but you know we started it and we have " perfected" it . Yes others do it . No one does it like us . And I know more than likely , PJ comes back . It does seem like shopping your self , flirting , whatever you want to call it . He doesnt need Danny Ainge to tell him he needs improvement in many areas .

What’s the over/under for how many times Cal says we’re one of the youngest teams in the country next season? I’m starting to think we lose as many as 6 to the league and transfer. We’re a revolving door. And that’s not counting our woodchopper.

It's kind of like Herpes in an orgy. We brought them to the party, now everyone leaves with it. I get you, but if not Cal someone else would have embraced it, and the NBA is the real problem here. It becomes more of an issue for UK because we recruit solid turnover, and others do not.

They need to do away with the OAD and a 2 year rule needs to go into effect. You can't criminalize it of course, but you can take away the lifetime scholarship if they don't follow it, as well as look at a few other avenues. Maybe an agreement with the NBA that they will honor the college rule.

Now allow me to wake up, because I definitely dreamed that theory.

Maybe he just wants scouts to tell him what he needs to work on for his size and skill set. Maybe develop D and 3 type style. If the ultimate goal is to be in the NBA, it doesn't hurt for them to tell you what you need to do. If my boss came to me and said, "improve your typing and you will make 1.5 million next year" I would improve my typing.

I'm not a scout but i can tell you what he needs to improve on. Shooting, better ball handling and FT shooting. ;)

I really do not understand your frustration... PJ has always been a 2 year player, of course this the season to be evaluated and learn what he needs to know before entering the draft next season.

You would do the exact same.

Anf it does come with the territory when you recruit , and get, the best . But we have more than a fair share who , in my humble opinion, wouldnt be doing it if it were some other school .. But I'm like Cal " I like my team " lol

Damn him for wanting to go pro and earn millions.....Is there anyone on this board who wouldn't take a try out for a multi million dollar job? Do you think he might be thinking that he will test this year and be ready next year.....? I never discourage some one for reaching for their dreams.......

What if the NBA says he needs to develop an outside shot and so he wants to spend next year shooting jumpers from the FT line and out.

Is Cal gonna let him do that just to showcase himself? I would hope not.

So you’re telling me that if you had the chance to see where you’re at for your potential dream job, you wouldn’t do it?

Also, I find it funny how of all the positive threads about Knox or SGA coming back this is the one you decide to comment on. Oh, other than calling someone a “douche canoe” in the Knox thread.

He wouldn't be good old negative ZaytovanCat if they replied any other way......they are not interested in positive.....only things that they can piss and moan and complain about.

Exactly why waste that one off on a year YOU KNOW you will not even be invited to the Combine? Silly but Culture here dictates they gotta try.

Does anyone really think PJ is leaving this year? Why is now acceptable to complain about "the system" even when it's likely to result in a player coming back better prepared to improve himself as a player?

This is just bizarre. People love to complain, and when there isn't anything to complain about, we get creative about new things to complain about.

The semantics of Knox VS PJ is interesting , in the PJ statement , PJ says " coach said I should be evaluated " but with Knox , Cal says " I'd love to have you back " and some other stuff , and 1 is interpreted as " Whooooo , Knox is staying " and the other is " Oh **** PJ is leaving " when its highly likely the opposite is true in each case .

As to why bother because you can learn the same thing from your own coaches?

Because it’s a different atmosphere and feeling. You are also talking to, working out for, and getting feedback from people who do not have a vested interest in your college career. Our coaching staff would be a bit more biased because 1) they know the player and 2) are thinking about the program and it’s needs. Contrary to what some think, Cal DOES consider the program

The system has produced average players with glaring holes in their game to consider going pro early , not going pro , going pro early , before they have too. Really , does he need a pro scout to say " you need to expand your shooting ability " " your ball handling need improvement" " your passing needs help" " you need experience " Does he need a pro scout to tell him the obvious ? Additionally whether , you , me or anyone likes it this is that Kentucky effect . Everyone must try to go early as possible .

Very true.

I just don't see how any team would take him in the first round so I'm not worried.

For those that say I only like sharing bad news, Washington has assured people he's coming back. He wants input as to what he needs to do to improve future draft position. Not earth shattering, but I thought I'd share what I heard.

I don’t blame him. Nothing to lose I guess. But it’s not even obvious to me that PJ is a two year player. I could see him as a four year player with his size and skill set. I love what he can do for UK but I’m having trouble seeing him as even close to helping an NBA team right now. Maybe I’m wrong.
