Yes yahoo had a story today about him holding off on surgery so he could test the draft...He's testing the waters with a broken pinky.
How dare your juniors and seniors seek to become gainfully employed. Why can't they just be loyal to your school!!!!1!111!!!What has the system produced? What are you mad about? What limelight is PJ seeking? He's getting feedback for his future career.
After Spring Break the juniors and seniors where I teach are doing mock job interviews and getting feedback.
One would hope his college coaches would tell him that stuff and save him time and energy. The system has produced average players with glaring holes in their game to consider going pro early , not going pro , going pro early , before they have too. Really , does he need a pro scout to say " you need to expand your shooting ability " " your ball handling need improvement" " your passing needs help" " you need experience " Does he need a pro scout to tell him the obvious ? Additionally whether , you , me or anyone likes it this is that Kentucky effect . Everyone must try to go early as possible .

Marcus Lee went this route and ended up transferring. I don't know that there is a danger of PJ transferring, he is much more an integral part of what Cal wants to do next year than Lee ever was.look at it this way, if PJ is testing the waters, based on what we know at the moment, its very, very likely he'll come back, it virtually eliminates any possibility he's a transfer in the off season AND it potentially helps future recruiting.
There are positives to this, and again, assuming there is virtually no chance he will get advice to go pro, few negatives that I can see.
So you’re telling me that if you had the chance to see where you’re at for your potential dream job, you wouldn’t do it?And so it begins...
If it were truly just about seeing where his stock is then he should have waited til next year to do it. Doing it now feels more like he’s wanting to go.
I would have liked to have seen Lee have a Senior NightMarcus Lee went this route and ended up transferring. I don't know that there is a danger of PJ transferring, he is much more an integral part of what Cal wants to do next year than Lee ever was.
The only downside I can see to PJ Washington declaring is if he doesn't get an invite to the combine, they only invite 60 kids. He's probably okay in that regard, although it's not certain. I think some of our players if they decide to declare may not end up getting an invite (Wenyen and Nick).
He could do the same thing again next year.
Again..more than twice.
We get that he can do it twice. You dont understand the definition of more .
Which is what I mean by saying that he seems to be thinking of he comes back it would be for 1 year no matter what.
Must have missed your posts in the Knox thread.
I didnt read it , it was 4 pages long when I saw it . Dont feel like investing the time . Hope KK , JV , PJ and all of them come back , I fully expect Shai and Kevin to go .. I'm not " that guy " if you are a lottery pick YOU GO . But if you are 2nd round unless there are some pretty compelling facts why 1 more year at UK isnt a option then it pisses me off . Its a little , not exactly , but a little like " if you are not in the mood for a new girl , don't flirt" .
Sure. But he didn't want to stay. And he wasn't a "missing piece" from our 2017 team. He was about the same player this year as he was for us as a junior. He would have stretches of solid games (probably more than he had at UK) followed by plenty of no-shows. He fouled out of his last 4 games, and Cal lost 8-strait to end their season.I would have liked to have seen Lee have a Senior Night
If he can do it more than once, how does him testing equate to coming back for only one more year no matter what?
Because it doesnt make too much sense to exhaust your combine eligibility in years you do not declare.
He could not go to combine next year..but based on where he projects now and hes still going that doesnt seem likely.
But that's not what's going on here. He's gaining experience and gathering information for when he does go pro.
This is what the guys projected where he is do. John Wall doesn't need this. Kids who need a couple years in college do.
Doesn’t necessarily. But if he does the combine this year, he will not be able to do it again without staying in the draft. If you feel very certain you are a second rounder and will be back if that’s the case, why not get your finger fixed and save this opportunity for next year? What happens if he comes back this year and then goes to the combine next year to find out he is still not a first rounder? Then we once again lose a guy to the NBA drafts second round and question why that happens so often here and not everywhere else.If he can do it more than once, how does him testing equate to coming back for only one more year no matter what?
Seems like we are the team that does it as some sort of obligation . No where but here do players flirt with the NBA and early entry in the same way ours do . Again I'm not mad at PJ , or JV , certainly not 1st rounders like SGA or Kevin , but if you are certain you are not a 1st round pick , and you have given the perception that you are not going unless you are a 1st round pick , why the theatrics ? to be told your weakness's ? I'm not buying it .
He's notHe seems less than borderline. Not a chance he is a 1st rounder. Why declare now? What if he is more than a two year player? Now he cannot go through the process again.
No one else has recruited nearly as many pros as we have.
But if you'll look around you'll see that this isn't unusual.
Arizona has guys like Simmons, Jarrett, Ashley, etc leave early to be second rounders or undrafted.
Duke lost Frank Jackson to the second round.
Louisville is losing Spalding to potentially going undrafted.
Carr from Penn State is declaring off an NIT team while projected as a second rounder.
64 guys declared early last year. Only 37 of them were drafted. Dozens more than that tested the waters.
There's no reason not to go gather info on your game, find out which teams like you and what they want to see you improve, see which front offices you click with, network, get your name out there, and gain experience to do this for real when the time comes.
Someone could give you a guarantee and then renege on it too(another player they like better falls to them). The way the rules are now he and everyone else should declare. You never know, someone may be crazy about you and give you a guarantee.
Are you or the person who liked your post a professional scout?I’m talking about the combine. Can only do that once and then come back. I would think he would be better served waiting to use that next year as it seems highly unlikely he is going to get anyone to tell him he is anything more than a mid second rounder.
Oh stfu. You said the same crap about Diallo last year. And so it begins...
If it were truly just about seeing where his stock is then he should have waited til next year to do it. Doing it now feels more like he’s wanting to go.
They all want to go, it’s about giving yourself as much information as possible to make the right decision. And so it begins...

No, no. We’re talking about PJ, not Wenyen.Show off that length.
