Why would these young men sign up to play for a unproven head coach with so much at stake? Boggles my mind.

1. Most elite recruits think they’re stars and can succeed anywhere.

2. Penny being an NBA star resonates.

3. Mike Miller was a good player and that doesn’t hurt.

That doesn’t mean they can coach. I’ve saw plenty of “elite” recruits go to college and fail.

You asked why the kids would risk it. I answered the question.

Theres really nothing to suggest Penny can't coach, either. It's just the narrative many posters are hoping for.

He won't be coach K. But he probably isn't a total failure either.

You all are saying there’s all this pressure next year and if he wont make the final four, he will fail. That’s such a joke.
We all know you don’t necessarily need to reach the final four to be considered successful. All you need to prove is that you can get these 5 stars to come. Then the next year it gets easier. Penny is building a powerhouse again

Word is that if Tucker stays in the draft thorn Memphis moves to the top of the list for Hampton. I love what Penny is doing and hopes he gets RJ. The more top talent teams the better for people like me who are huge fans of college basketball

I would take Mike Miller over most college colleges in pure Xs & Os

I'm sorry, but how the hell could you know that?

The dude's never been a head coach and has only been an assistant for one season, yet you somehow know he's a better "pure Xs and Os" coach than most college head coaches? LOL

He was known as being a player coach the last 3/4 seasons in NBA and every player he played with spoke highly of him. Plus, he played in the NBA for how many years and was super successful so why wouldn't he have a high basketball IQ
