All the Penny H hype and players committing there is comical...dude ain't done **** yet and hes just building the pressure up on himself. He better have a great season next year

I’ll be interested in seeing how much TV exposure they get this year...the three big college basketball broadcasters: ESPN, Fox, and CBS all have deals with the conferences that require they show games from that conference in a certain premier time slot. The American gets games on ESPN and ESPN 2 but Houston was fantastic last year in that conference and didn’t really get much exposure until college game day came at the very end of season. Typically you see some non-conference games early and then once the conference season starts you don’t hear about non power 5 league teams.
that's big time. I'm actually rooting for Meeamphis. I enjoyed watching Penny at MSU back in the day, beating up on UL in the Metro. They have a strong staff winning over kids and parents. Reminds me of UK back in the early 10's. Plus, as other's have mentioned, their gain is UNC/KUs (and sometimes, unfortunately, UKs) loss.

No, he is doing what he has to do. I guess what the poster meant was that the Memphis fans dreamed of this when Penny was hired. Now, with the top recruiting class, if he doesn't at least make the regional finals, the fan base may turn on him, quickly. Plus, other coaches will really use it against him. "How much did NBA experience help him?" "Why go there, since he didn't make the 2nd weekend of the tournament with the top recruiting class?" You get the point.
Ehh....they're in the AAC. Talent like that can mop the floors with teams like Tulane and ECU....and no more Cronin at Cincy.

He doesn't have to be a Memphis fan to realize that was a stupid statement. You recruit the best players you can and do your best to coach 'em up. He's not worried about pressure.
I understand if he had like 5 5stars...I never get too amped up over a boat load of 4s...I've always found it misleading (in terms of recruiting rankings)....its like a team can sign six 4 stars and be ranked ahead of a team with 3 great 5 stars. No way their class is better than ours as it stand
If you run through that conference....get a high seed where you play a 13/14/15/16 seed round 1....it can be easier to do....and basketball is random and they do have talent. You never know..
Penny has one top guy and a slew of 20-40 guys. Not that impressive. Only looks good because it’s at Memphis. Not like he has 5 top studs coming in. They will be overhyped and may end with a good record due to weaker conference but won’t make any noise come March. Sweet 16 ceiling.

Definitely a loaded class for Memphis. Will be interesting to see where they are ranked pre-season and how they do outside of their conference.. Their league is trash so they will dominate it.
