Add some rain that turns to snow later in the day, get the wind gusts in the 40's and 50's to push the snow around in the early evening and the temperature to drop about 30 degrees in a few hour span overnight and you have your typical Fargo winter day.

Tornado warning on campus? People taking shelter? 93 mph winds at Lincoln airport?

snowflakes!
Didnt hear any siren. And I'm ten minutes from campus. It was windy as hell but I only see a few quite small branches in my neighborhood. A lot of big old tree too. 93? Someone have a fan aiding that thing?

It was a good call as it hit Lincoln right when schools would be getting out. Would have been wrecks galore as visibility was ****.

A lot of anticipation and build up for something that was over in a few minutes.

anticipation get the dopamine or conversely, the stress hormones going.
Knowing you are gonna score makes the evening much more fun.

Beatrice has a good bit of damage. I just spent an hour boarding up a big window that the wind blew out. Part of a fence down. Hearing of roof damage at several businesses. It hit right at 3:30, I’m glad the “get off my lawn” people that ***** about everything weren’t in charge of the decision to cancel school this afternoon.

10 bucks says 30-40 sustained and nowhere near 65-80 mph winds. I could be wrong but I used to say the only thing weather man's gotten right lately is the wind. But the last couple of years that's been false. Weather people I've talked to tell me they're instructed to over shoot things and then we're supposed to be thankful it wasn't as bad as forecasted...ie winter storms, hail, severe weather, windchill, heat index etcetera.

Let me know tomorrow if I'm wrong and let me know if I am right

Tornado touched down just south of Hastings in Ayr at 2:07pm.

Nebraska City reporting 52mph winds right now at 7pm with gusts up to 63mph. Offut Airforce Base at 44mph at 7pm also.

As you asked, "Let me know"....you were wrong. I think you owe all of us $10 bucks as it was greater than 30-40 mph winds. 93 mph wind recorded at the Lincoln airport.

not if it comes with 75mph winds.

There was a semi that was flipped over out west.
The wind really wasn't much different than any other gusty day in this part of the country. The only difference was 70 degree weather and severe storms in december. I'm sorry but no way in hell would I take winter weather over today. Today felt like early spring to me.

I was wrong and it was definitely worse north and east of where I live. Pretty much dying down here as of 7pm. We could smell smoke bad from 4pm till the wind went to the west. I was told it was coming from a business that burnt west of Beloit ks

Neighbors house had its roof blown off and multiple others with roof damage and downed fences. Definitely ruined a lot of people’s day. Schools made the right call, especially with 5 tornado warnings around the Omaha area this afternoon.

Normal winds everywhere. I know cause I read it on message boards like this one. And I was told on this board everyone was just over reacting. I guess denial is truly just a river in Egypt!
