New President, new lower and closer goal post. He will be a hero now bringing the number of people catching it down.

Released on inauguration day:
"Caution! The less prevalent the disease, the more false positives you'll get"

I don't believe anything nefarious is going on, but Biden is going to unfairly get credit for declining Covid cases over the next 60 days. It looks like case counts peaked nationally a couple of weeks ago. Vaccines are increasing. Winter (cold and flu season) will end in 60 days. And unlike this summer, there probably is an actual herd immunity element taking hold in some areas.

Some people are going to crow that Biden made a difference. Others will crow it was all a conspiracy to make Trump look bad. The truth will be it's a mother17ing cold virus and it did what it does and we all could have done better in hindsight, but nobody outside of Beijing should be blamed for any of it.

The vaccine development in less than a year is badass though. Science is awesome. Politics suck.

We have been on the other side of this since August. I learned that on this board.

The number that matters most of excess mortality, which requires no PCR test
I agree with you.

BUT.

What have you heard more about on MSM and social media: positive case count, or year over year excess deaths? That’s the point. 80% of voters in this country couldnt even define ‘excess deaths.’

Therefore, much to the chagrin of you and me, the case count from the PCR test is very significant.

You also learned that the pandemic would conveniently become less worrisome after the election on this board.

I have no idea where your percentages are coming from.

What date did you think the board meant when it said the virus would magically become less worrisome after the election? The more specific you are, the better I can help you understand the numbers

Well, it is interesting that they announce this on literally the day Biden became President. Maybe that's just a coincidence though.

Actually, I recall people interchangeably saying it would be the after the election and/or the inauguration. I took the ambiguity to be due to the expectation that the election itself would be indecisive, slow to have a clear result. Which it was.

Im sure my recollections are as easily supported as your 90/10 ones. I couldn’t care less whether any percentage of SPS posters are proven right anyway. The point is ... them goalposts.

Literally within 8 days of the election 2-3 companies announced their vaccines were 90%+ effective, and on the day of inauguration, the WHO no longer recognizes covid after 1 positive test with or without symptoms.

How exactly have the goalposts moved? What date did you expect these changes from reading the board back in August?

Must have also been a coincidence that the vaccine had been developed and successfully passed trials the day after Biden was “deemed” the president elect. Quite the series of quinky dinks..

Who,gives a **** what the WHO says at this point....oh wait. Probably our new president.

ed: no, I’m actually serious. Why would, the USA make any policy based on WHO recommendations? Have they done anything, recommended anything that’s actually been relevant or correct? Have they done anything that’s helped this country in the pandemic? **** them. Yeah, I’m an admitted part time , Pat Buchanan isolationist...but what value is the WHO bringing to us.

I don’t keep accurate enough records of SPS posts to argue with you. You win.

We all agree, but where have the flu deaths gone this year? They are all Covid deaths now. It’s a virus and has to run its course until we reach herd immunity and/or get vaccinated.
Covid it is worse than the flu, but by how much? it’s not a world ending plague like some have made it out to be.

That's wildly incorrect. The number of flu tests is above average, but the positive percentage is low... My wife's company lives off flu season and they are getting massively low flu positives and visits.

We know this because washing hands, social distancing, lack of travel, and masks have nearly destroyed the flu worldwide. Ironically it's tracking with the 2011-12 flu season.

Quit making **** up because you didn't get any stimmy.

I’m not much of a conspiracy guy but the vaccine announcement was very suspicious.
