The day after my second shot of Moderna, I’m going to pre-plan a series to binge watch for the day on Netflix.
Any recommendations?

Zap, you may enjoy "The Trump Insurrection", now playing on HBO Max. 😀

If you like the modern day western stuff, like Yellowstone, then you would probably enjoy Longmire

Occupied and Fauda are the 2nd and 3rd best shows I've ever watched on TV. (The Wire was the 1st)

Both are riveting dramas with incredible acting.

Got my second dose of Pfizer yesterday morning at 10:30. I was fine all day other than soreness at the injection site. Woke up this morning like I got run over by a truck. Fever, chills, hot, body aches all over, feel like I want to nap every 2 hours. Staying in bed watching the Yankees game and then the Final Four.

Hope it goes away quickly. Let us know how long it lasts.

Second dose of both Moderna & Pfizer usually have more reactions to include:
Arm more sore
Increasing tiredness
Chills
Headache
Less frequent: low grade fever
(I had Pfizer and had all of these symptoms except the fever)

Not everyone has a reaction and, if you have symptoms, except for the arm soreness, they are usually gone within 24 hours.
The more severe reactions would seem to point to a possible weaker immune system. Not everyone’s current immune system tolerates a vaccine well. I’m sure they are finding more and more out daily. On a personal family level 8 people taking Pfizer minimal negative reactions : basically some general arm soreness gone within a day. With Moderna 6 people : 2 no reactions : 2 some joint and muscle discomfort. 1 with foggy or cloudy feeling. 1 with chills . No severe reactions as purported in news media reports.

Oh crap, didn't like reading that. Both my wife and I same day, on April 16th, 2nd shot and my son and daughter in law go April 6th for their 1st Pfizer shot. If they have any reaction like that after either shot guess who comes back to watch our 3.5 year old Granddaughter and 6 month old Grandson. Very worried about my grandson continuing breast feeding through all this. My daughter in law's doctor says it's a good thing, we aren't so sure.

Wife and I got ours (Moderna) the beginning of this week ( Monday for her, Wednesday for me) and no ill effects.
Staggered days in case of one of us having a reaction.
I expect , until more information about lasting effects come out, might need a booster every year.

Anyone here have a really bad reaction to the vaccine? Anyone know anyone who has had a really bad reaction (and I'm not talking about feeling sick, fever, fatigue etc) that required medical treatment? Anyone know of someone who has died shortly after getting a shot?

I see a lot of "chatter" in certain groups about how the vaccines are killing people, especially people in LTC facilities, but nothing official. Personally don't know of anyone who has had a noteworthy reaction. There are a lot of reports in the VAERS system, but a lot of people have been vaccinated, many of them have been older/sicker, and people are probably paying more attention to side effects now than when they get other shots. So not sure how significant those reports are.

My wife is scheduled for pfizer shot 1 on April 14 (I think) and I'm on the sched for late May.

I've encountered people that had a range of reactions from none to a couple of days of feeling ill. Could not say if symptoms were any worse between Pfizer, Moderna or J&J. My wife and I received our first Pfizer dose yesterday. No issues at all.

I had my second shot of Moderna a week ago Friday. Approx .24 hrs later ( Saturday) I was exhausted and came down with 101.4 fever. It broke about 4-5 hrs later and on Sunday morning I was 100%.

One of the companies reported over the week that their vaccine only lasts 6 months . I guess that is what you get when something is experimental. One of my co-workers said yesterday he will not get the shot at this point because he does not want to be walking down the street and turn into a mutant ninja turtle .

Actually that report stated :
>The ongoing Phase 3 clinical trial of Pfizer/BioNTech's coronavirus vaccine confirms its protection remains high for at least six months after the second dose, the companies said Thursday.
Protection likely lasts even longer than that, vaccine experts say, but they say having data showing good protection six months after people were vaccinated is good news.<
So that's a minimum of 6 months, not lifespan.

Also:
The findings indicate protection will last even longer than six months, vaccine experts said.
"The information coming from Pfizer-BioNTech is good news with evidence that those enrolled in the clinical trials last year are still protected. So we know that immunity will not be short-lived," Dr. Peter Hotez, a vaccine expert and dean of the school of tropical medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, told CNN.
"Hopefully the protection might last years, but we won't know until we know."

Due to the short timeline to get the vaccines available for emergency use there is really only 6 months of data available to review. The fact that antibody titers are still up is very encouraging. There is also data that suggests the Pfizer vaccine is effective against the South African strain. Expect to see more safety and efficacy data at 9 months.

The 6 month Pfizer data was excellent. Very encouraging. Also, keep tracking Israel. They are ahead of us with vaccinations.

It's an ominous sign that so many get strong side effects
some get stronger hangovers when drinking the same thing and quantity.
Just about anything can effect people different.
So I guess you can say, if it doesn't kill you, it'll make you stronger .
Look into any prescription doctors prescribe for illnesses and you'll find a warning stating the possible side effects you might get by taking that prescription.
Guess we should stop taking every drug our doctors prescribe to keep us healthy, because there might be a side effect.

Would you tell a diabetic that the possible side effects of insulin should make him/her fearful of taking it and he/her should take their chances of controlling their diabetes without it.?
The same should go to those looking to protect themselves and loved ones from COVID 19.

Israel is also starting a program for vaccinated people that allows them to get around the restrictions that country has in place :

>The "internal COVID-19 vaccine passport" is a very real initiative introduced by Israel's Ministry of Health in mid-January and released in late February in an effort to reopen the country, and the economy, more widely.

According to the ministry, the passport, or "Green Pass" – a vaccination certificate, in both digital and paper form – is available to anyone who has received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine through any one of Israel's four health maintenance organizations or other accredited vaccination service.

People who have recovered from the virus, indicating acquired immunity, but have not been vaccinated are not eligible.

Though shops, malls and museums are open to all, the Green Pass confers exclusive access to restricted sites like hotels, gyms, theaters, music venues and other leisure facilities. Indoor dining in restaurants and bars is expected to be included<

actually it’s just the opposite. more severe side effects are a signal of a more robust immune response which is why the more severe reactions are generally in younger people and women.

It is not experimental.....the clinical trial patients are being followed since they received the vaccine and so far in 6 months of follow up since the last patient was dosed they have demonstrated at least 6 months of protection in the group that received the vaccine. It is likely going to extend beyond that but they need to keep following the patients to make the claim. There will be a lot of real world evidence as well and it’s highly likely the protection will be quite a bit more than 6 months. You’re co worker is to put it bluntly....an idiot.
