12:04 PM PT -- 12/4 -- Emmanuel Duron has been arrested for assault for attacking the referee -- and officials have released his mug shot.

The 18-year-old player was arrested and booked Friday for assault causing bodily injury. A judge set his bond at $10,000.

On his booking sheet, Duron is listed at 5'11", 225 pounds.
Not surprised. It was unarguably assault and was witnessed by lots of people.

I see him getting a suspended sentence and mandatory counseling. No way to know if that will be enough to set him straight or not. The school should ban him from all sports. And at least suspend him for a week.

Not doing this kid any favors by ignoring yet another incident of violent anger.

Maybe I'm getting soft with age, but I hope this kid gets the help he needs, for his sake and the community's.

Whether you call it discipline or restitution, the kid needs to pay a price for his actions. The help he needs, while totally appropriate and necessary, alone is not sufficient. And it does not mean a permanent criminal record. And race and/or ethnicity has nothing to do with it.

Seeing as how the kid was involved in a similar incident earlier, perhaps the school feels guilty for allowing the kid to poay sports and is overreacting to that poor decision.
I'd guess maybe the lockerroom or fans/parents was supportive of the criminal.... saying the ref deserved it.. that's the only reason I'd suggest a forfeit... send them all a message.

No team has ever left Woodman field in Montclair and pelted by rocks...ever.
I’ll tell you what did happen, the Brick Twsp scum called us white players N-Lovers because we were a heavily integrated team
Brick is alllll-class (says a HS rival.. that never beat em). The hallowed coach's son, a player at the time.. SPIT on our coach after they beat us. Game was a bit too close to their liking? Town had no recognizable form of zoning either.. no discipline anywhere.

I'm not shocked.

When we lived in Bloomfield and I was NJSP, I was told to move to Brick. We went down there and looked around, it was 'Ewiee' like people and area. We looked at one house, which was the right price, but it had sink holes in the back yard and no side streets in Brick in those days were paved. An oil truck with a spray device would drive around and spray oil down on the dirt roads to keep dust down.

We eventually bought a nice home on River Rd in Wall. (with pavement).

Interesting. Guys make tackles on players on the opposite team all night and no assault charges. Does the exact same action on the ref and it might be assault charges? Where in the law does it say that tackling someone is ok only in certain situations? How organized does the football game have to be for the law to not be considered anymore? If I see someone in the street I don’t like can I tackle him and say I thought we were playing a football game?

People were really saying the ref deserved it? Jeez.
I was just guessing as to why you punish the whole school... the whole team... just a guess.. but if you never thought a ref deserved a good smack... try to remember Rutgers basketball in the Tim Higgins/Valentine/Burr era.

I didn’t go to RU and only became a fan of the FB program back when Schiano showed up. A lot of my friends and family went to RU so I got sucked in. LOL

Been to some BB games over the years, and got caught up in the excitement of last season. But don’t know anything about the history of the RU BB program beyond last year, really.

Well.. just remember that thinking it.. or doing it.. or approving of it.. are vastly different things.

I find it interesting that all the videos I have seen of this have no video of the play that resorted in the penalties. I assume the enraged kid deserved the two penalties... but what if it was a ridiculous roughing call that triggered the unsportsmanlike and subsequent ejection? What if that official was punishing the kid for talking back? Doesn't justify violence.. but would certainly make it more understandable. He still gets punished.. but would be interesting to see the play.

Well in the pussification of America the kid may walk Scot-free. Since he's just a misguided youth who needs more love and attention in his life to straighten things out. But he's going to have an entire football team of his peers who won't ever let him forget what a jackass he was.

Unfortunately, I feel there might be a good number more of his Texas teammate buddies who will laugh and drink a few beers while celebrating this heinous act.

I don't agree.

This was such an egregious act that a statement had to be made. The players are part of a team and are responsible for the actions of a member of the team.

I think this is more on the coaches and at least someone realized the severity of the assault and forfeited the game to send a message to the team, the community and other football players around the country.

Are you serious? What kind of question is that? Are you smoking weed tonight?

This all could have been prevented if 84 on the white team had blocked 88 on the blue team. He did not even touch him.
I think 84 wanted his QB to get slammed by 88.
There is a much bigger conspiracy that I see here. Where is Rudy?
Why is 84 in the white team not charged with anything?
88 was framed.

Don't know if anyone else noticed...but, it looked like one of the coaches were going after the ref too...it's just the kid got there first. Coach was't even trying to hold back kid

In the old days the Miami coaching staff would've been on a lear jet with a letter for him to sign asap.

I hope this angry young man gets the support and guidance he needs going forward. This can be a ruin your life moment or a learn for your life moment.

When you are playing a sport that involves tackling each other, you implicitly consent to being tackled. Referees are not players. Your argument wouldn't hold up in any courtroom. Otherwise, either many contact sports wouldn't exist, or it would be legal to physically attack unsuspecting people.

I'm confused. Where did race ever enter my post?

In my opinion he will never be allowed to play sports again. What ref will want to be in games and have to keep looking over his shoulder in fear of being assaulted by this guy. The player even had time to cool off but decided to try to murder the ref.

I skated over a hockey ref at Rye Country Day School, chasing him over what I thought was a bogus call...he stopped short and I skated right over him, totally by accident.
I was thrown out of the game and banned from hockey in NY state....lol

That's different.

Out of THAT particular game? Sure.

Banned in NY State forever? A little much IMO.

I don’t know what the term of suspension was, but it was my senior year and we weren’t playing in NY anymore so it mattered not.
To the naked eye it didn’t appear different, it looked like I went after him.

My junior year at MHS, our linebacker coach tackled a Brick Twsp player on his way to a meaningless touchdown in garbage time of a game we were winning by 3 touchdowns late in the 4th quarter.

Coach Rob, was so emotional he would cry at the skull sessions the night before games, and would often take reps with the defense during live hitting scrimmages in shorts and a tee shirt.
It was revealed, our Defensive coordinator at the time said their were numerous instances where he saw Coach Rob react like he was going to run onto the field, but never thought he’d actually do it.
Look it up, 1973 MHS vs Brick.

He laid the kid out with a text book tackle...lol

They put him up in the press box during games for the remainder of his coaching career
Was he suspended? I find it incredulous that Montclair HS would have kept him on staff after this... who were the head coaches Fortunato and Wolf ?
