We had just won a semipro game in Albany 4-3 in extra innings. Right after a hit scored the winning run our catcher, a former Cardinal minor leaguer & a powerful guy, came flying out of the dugout over the mound & threw a vicious right that just missed the base ump who was a pr#ck & had always screwed us. The opposing catcher, a former Cincy minor leaguer & an even bigger guy, bull rushed our guy & he was wrapped up.

League was going to put our guy out, but our manager got it reduced to a two week suspension. Sure that if he had connected it would have been a different outcome all around. Different times.

Hopefully he has charges pressed against him and gets kicked out of school. Disgusting

That kid should never walk on a football field again.
Guessing the player's season is now over too.
Not to mention potential assault charges?
Well it is Texas, where football is a religion, so the school district may look at him being thrown out of a game as mitigating circumstances and suspend him for the first quarter of the next game.

Dumb *** needs a lifetime ban of all sports in the state of Texas and assault charges filed. Premeditated intent to harm is bad enough, but a blindside hit as well? They need to make a strong example of this idiot to help curb future assaults against officials.

There's just no way a kid that level headed could have earned a double foul on the play before he went nuts. (sarcasm)

Yeah.. that boy needs help. If I am the ref and I am okay, physically, I make my refusal to bring charges contingent upon him doing mandatory counseling.. and, of course, at least no football until he successfully completes counseling. Or maybe some charges with probation including the counselling.. that way if he acts out in any other way he is also violating probation and charges from this have some weight.

I agree with the ban because this is not even the first time for the kid. He was suspended for the rest of soccer (winter sport in Texas) season for a similar incident.

The school has decided to forfeit the game. I don't agree with that decision that punishes the teammates for the action of one kid.

That is absolutely criminal behavior. Kid should be arrested. No question that he should be kicked off the team.

Funny how the opposing kids almost stepped on the Ref when they went after him, none seemed to stop and check on the guy.

what a dumb decision to forfeit a playoff spot. I’d be furious if I was a member of the team.

Seeing as how the kid was involved in a similar incident earlier, perhaps the school feels guilty for allowing the kid to poay sports and is overreacting to that poor decision.

Well in the pussification of America the kid may walk Scot-free. Since he's just a misguided youth who needs more love and attention in his life to straighten things out. But he's going to have an entire football team of his peers who won't ever let him forget what a jackass he was.

My junior year at MHS, our linebacker coach tackled a Brick Twsp player on his way to a meaningless touchdown in garbage time of a game we were winning by 3 touchdowns late in the 4th quarter.

Coach Rob, was so emotional he would cry at the skull sessions the night before games, and would often take reps with the defense during live hitting scrimmages in shorts and a tee shirt.
It was revealed, our Defensive coordinator at the time said their were numerous instances where he saw Coach Rob react like he was going to run onto the field, but never thought he’d actually do it.
Look it up, 1973 MHS vs Brick.

He laid the kid out with a text book tackle...lol

They put him up in the press box during games for the remainder of his coaching career

We are talking about Texas, football, and a star athlete.

This kid was not even handcuffed. He was gently escorted by police. I am sure he has a future in Texas politics or law enforcement.

They had a similar incident in 2007 where a player did the same thing and that kid is a cop now.

will be interesting to see if any colleges still offer. Looks like a big kid, but wow, for sure needs some counseling.

Maybe that was the thinking in the school forfeiting the game? Don't know.

Having a team run laps when one person screws something up (a focus thing) can be a valuable team-building lesson, in the "we win an lose as a team" sense. But I agree w/whomever said, earlier, that it is a little harsh to forfeit an entire game over the misbehavior of one player. It looked to me like some coaches and players around the kid tried, kind-of, to stop him. I guess maybe they didn't try hard enough.

I recall one year around that time frame that Brick came to MHS and I think won and the bus was pelted with rocks as it left the parking lot. (My Sons played in Monmouth County, one at Wall and 2 at Manasquan.)(Probably Lennon family/brothers.)

Never happened.
They never beat us in Montclair, and that would never happen in Montclair

I don't agree.

This was such an egregious act that a statement had to be made. The players are part of a team and are responsible for the actions of a member of the team.

No they aren’t responsible for the decision of one player.

We can agree to disagree but penalties are assessed against the team, when this kid was flagged for r2 personal fouls, the team was penalized 30 yards. So even in normal penalties the team suffers for the act of the individual.

This was one of the worst acts I have ever seen during a sporting event and it discredits the players, coaches and school.

i just don’t see how it discredits the players. I’d be furious if I was a player and my playoffs were taken away because of the act of one player

Brick Won or the rocks ?
No team has ever left Woodman field in Montclair and pelted by rocks...ever.
I’ll tell you what did happen, the Brick Twsp scum called us white players N-Lovers because we were a heavily integrated team

Absolutely, and eventually be inducted into the NJ Lacrosse hall of fame, as he coached that sport as well.
The incident was forbidden to speak of and it was cut out of the game film....no one would dare say a word to coach Rob...

Piscataway fans did the same thing to the South River buses back in the day when we played them and had strong teams that kicked their butt.

Sure, I’ve known the Weissbach family since Middle school.
I’m good friends with his sister Carol as well.
Mr Weissbach was a school principal in town

They should have led him away in handcuffs.
