NWS in Philly and NYC just upped snowfall predictions by 1-2" for 95 corridor and near that, plus expanded snowfall a bit towards the coast. They're the pros. Should be here shortly - hearing about heavy snow reports in the southern part of CNJ. Assuming we get 1-2" per hour from noon to 8 pm, thats' your 8-16" - of course some will melt in the beginning of that and ratios will be <10:1, so that's where the NWS has 6-12" on the ground at the end in much of 95 and even 20 miles SE of 95. Storm can still overperform, as many models are indicating, and deliver 12" or more for the 95 corridor (on the ground)

Local districts were scared due to the wind storm last week that knocked out power. They forgot that forecasts for snow are often wrong and can easier bust (or miss the predicted timing).

We are at home currently enjoying our rain day off. Even my office closed!

I always thought that the bigger stuff was starting after 10, so I was not thrilled that everyone called it last night. I think Robbinsvile was the first one in Mercer to call it and everyone just followed suit. Schools are reluctant to call an early dismissal on a whim because of the parent factor and making school lunches. However, they could have just announced an early dismissal at 6 this morning and we would have been good.

Anyway, I brought a crap ton of work home and it's report card time so I'm using the time efficiently even though the kids are here.

Yep the 10:51 am map change (was 4:14 am) essentially moved the precip/snow from NW to SE taking a bit away from NW areas and adding it to SE areas, since short range models are showing this. Could be wrong, could also be more at the coast. Two very good forecasters on 33andrain are calling for 12" in west-central Monmouth (Freehold to Holmdel).
