Gutterup again playing on the Tour
I was just thinking. Isn't it tougher for him that he's seeing these courses for the 1st time while the majority of the field has played the event numerous times under tourney conditions?

Or is practice anywhere near enough?

It is a disadvantage to a point but not all that much at a course like this. Augusta, the Open courses much more. The current condition even the field a lot. How a course plays from year to year can be very different. Playing a course cold is impossible however. You can be told the yardage but to get dialed in you have to play the course.

Stenson hasn't had a top 10 and has missed 9 of 14 cuts on the pga tour this year, yet he comes right in and wins a LIV event. Sounds like a real competitive event.
Tony Finau has won 2 weeks in a row on the PGA Tour against scrub fields. He's only won 4 times ever. Not competitive events either.

Now you are just being stupid. Tony Finau is a great golfer. Has played in 2 Ryders Cups and a President Cup. The USA hasn't lost any of them. To call him a scrub is a sure lack of knowledge issue on your part.

Not sure if you guys saw the post game interview after he won Rocket Mortgage. That’s all you need to watch to understand the difference between PGA vs LIV.

That wasn’t the point. I love Tony Finau since he was on The Big Break. He’s one of my favorites on tour. I wasn’t calling him a scrub. I was calling the field he won against mostly a bunch of scrubs (which is a fact). The poster I was quoting said Stenson beat a field of scrubs in the LIV. Stenson has had a better career than Finau to date and beat DJ this week. Who did Finau beat? Golf is diluted right now because of the LIV. Both tours have equal amounts of scrubs.

#4, #13 and #19 ranked players in the world. All higher than DJ.

Just wait until he gets his payday from the LIV. 😃That’s a lot of kids to support.

I suspect the three will win the injunction but the larger lawsuit will be interesting.

One thing to be noted. There are guys going to get bumped to allow the LIV golfers in the Fed Ex playoffs. That’s gotta suck.

Who? Not a big time golfer. The PGA tour is really hurting.
LOL.

The guy who won the last 2 tourneys, was a member of the last 2 Ryder Cup teams, and the last President's Cup team isn't a big time golfer. Pass me whatever you're smoking.

But Howell, Perez, and a bunch of others on LIV are? Perez has been on Tour for 15 years yet Finau has more wins than he does. His last 2 weeks would account for 2/3 of Perez total career wins.

Big-time golfers = ratings and watchers

After Tiger, fans care about DJ, Koepka, and DeC.

Justin Thomas , Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth might top all three now.
But joining the LIV might have hurt the overall popularity of the players you picked
and before joining that tour were cared about by more fans

After Rory? Spieth? Thomas and a bunch of others? Yeah we saw how much the fans care last weekend. Less than 1,000 on Friday, 2,000 on Saturday. $1 tickets. Beating down the doors to watch them lol.

Of the 3 only DJ is in the Top 20. The other 19 are on the Tour.

Don't bogart, pass it on cause that must be some powerful stuff.

I love Finau, but being honest, he has really underachieved. He has come up small on Sunday's most of his career when in contention. Sure he has 4 wins (last 2 against below average fields) and been on the Ryder Cup teams but still no majors. His best shot was probably the Masters where he dislocated his ankle in the Par 3 contest.

Who, who, and who? Is Rory ever going to win another major? 9 years and count. Spieth is Duval 2.0. Got the yips and never recovered.

I love JT and Speith, but only Speith get the eye balls. Rory seems likable but really isn't. JT is the winner of the bunch. You watch Speith and Rory hoping they win but deep down know they choke in a big spot.

I would totally spend a dollar to see…….the chain smokers.
You would have been disappointed. 😀

On the topic of paying to get into a golf tournament, I have never paid to get into a PGA or LPGA event. Does anyone really ever pay an entry fee? I always get freebies.

JT is the best golfer of the bunch, but nobody watches a final round just for him. Speith and Rory are just like the Shark…ironically!

Spieth has won more majors than DJ and is 8 years younger. Thomas has won as many also being 8 years younger as has Morikawa and Rory.

Gutterup again playing on the Tour
He started today with a bogey after missing a 3 footer on the short Par 4. He did come back on 2 with an approach within 23 inches. Even playing 3. Guessing he may need 2 or 3 under to make the cut.

but those things weren't what I was talking about.
Just feel the golfers you pointed out were more popular with golf fans in 2021 and because of joining the LIV might have lost some popularity this year..
Rory now might be more popular than before because golf fans are rooting for him to win another major.
Spieth might have the sympathy card causoing some to root for him to overcome his yips, while they turned away from past favorites .

Back to Gotterup....

After a bogey on 1, he's birdied 2, 5, 7, and 9 to go -3 for his Front 9 and the tourney. With the cut line sitting at -2, he's T34.

Koepka was on his way to being a miserable prick as well imo.
Koepka is one of my favorite players. He's not really a prick if you know his history. He was never the star on the junior tour, lightly recruited to college and even Fox dissed him when he was the defending US Open Champ. He's made a career of being disrespected. That is how some guys motivate themselves. I didn't like his comments about DJ, but think the injuries and equipment changes have hurt him more. He needs to go back to TaylorMade drivers, Mizuno irons and Titleist golf balls when he won his majors. Maybe he will since he got the LIV $ and is not happy with Srixon.
