Just tuned in to swimming. There’s a whistler. Gonna ruin one of my favorite Olympic sports.

Your PTSD is definitely kicking in. There’s always a ton of whistling in the swimming events. It’s more pronounced because there’s hardly anyone in the crowd.

Been watching swimming my entire life and never noticed it.
1. you’re definitely right that the lack of a crowd makes it much more noticeable
2. why the f whistle at a swim meet?

Yes. It’s common for some coaches to whistle during every stroke of their swimmer’s breaststroke race. I’ve been a USA Swimming official for a long time. When you’re walking stroke and coaches do that right behind you, it’s beyond annoying.

Swimming events are tough. Anyone who can swim that hard while whistling is a freaking hero in my book!
