I'm no soccer expert but it looked like on the replay that the Dane got his foot on the ball before he made contact with the Croat.
Another item the refs prob wouldn’t call in that situation but the Croatians easily could have had a do over on the pk because the goalie jumped a few steps forward off the line before the kick.
Yeah, they rarely call that. Just watch the PKs - the Croatian keeper is jumping out even further than Schmeichel. They should call it on really bad examples, though.
Doesn't matter. If the defender creates the contact a foul can still be called. Just like in basketball.
Betting question as I was at the borgata yesterday...if you have a 2way moneyline bet on either Spain or Denmark, do they just result in a push since it was tied at end of regulation? Or does the penalty kicks count towards the result of the game. Thanks!
I agree but after 2 extra sessions ya gottta do something. It was a fantastic match. The Russian goalie is a monster. Can he punt and kick for us?

She is wacky at times but she is 100% right on this. United State Soccer Federation is all about greed and corruption. Instead of growing the game they only look to create income.
Not exactly a recent revelation, and there have been some steps to try to correct the issues. However, in a nation with as many people as ours, and considering the composition of our teams in terms of relative skill level compared to other nations, it's kind of hard to claim that we're casting a wide-enough net. I think we need to do a much better job of locating and developing players starting at young ages.
But there's no arguing that we're hindered by the fact that we have many popular sports in this country, not just one or two. So locating a relative young kid (middle school age) and getting him (or her) the development they need, is a bit of an iffy thing given the kid might wind up playing some other sport by the time the kid is halfway through high-school.
It appears that Solo hasn't seen the USA Men's National Team lately as I only count 3 white guys on the starting team and I don't know that their families are rich.

I can not STAND Stu Holden(??). This is the third or fourth match I’ve watched, where he’s been the number 2 commentator, and he clearly, absolutely without question, favors one team over the other each time. I keep shaking my head, way too often, During the games he’s working. Some of the things he says are just very skewed and simply not factual in terms of what is going on on the field to play
I mean soccer might be the most corrupt sport in the entire world, at least team sport, so this really shouldn’t shock anybody.
I don’t want to hear about Suarez anymore. Neymar is pathetic. The guy gets touched and he’s on the ground literally fake crying for about 30 seconds, then he’s up running full speed, Time and time again. I’m glad the official is not paying attention to his antics today.
I dont know if he is biased but I did notice during the Portugal-Uruguay match (I think or maybe France-Argentina?) hearing some of his comments and just shaking my head.
Not a great job by Fox overall IMO.

I'm not sticking up for Neymar, I'm not a fan of his, I agree with you. Just that Suarez is the same. He fakes head injuries when he was never hit in the head. And he bites.
If Belgium does what they should in this one get ready for the incessant "matchup worthy of a final commentary" re Brazil.
Belgium looks strong, but Japan had a few opportunities on the counter also
