Time to take apart this team. Trade deGrom, Syndergaard, Lugo, Gsellman, Conforto, etc and rebuild the farm system. Don't bet the house on pitching and follow the Cubs rebuilding process and focus on top young pitching. Definitely time for another rebuild.

And Callaway continues to push all the WRONG buttons.
I try to never second guess a manager's decision. But I will critique the decision making process. And I think Callaway's process today was all wrong.

By his own statements on the postgame, he went into today's game with the preconceived plan that he would use Lugo for two innings. He clearly wanted to save Familia for the second game - a game which may never be played, and even if played, he may not need a closer. He did need one this afternoon.

If Callaway had looked the camera in the eye and said that he genuinely believed that Lugo, rather than Familia, gave him the best chance to shut down the Braves in the ninth, then fine. I will never second guess a manager or coach in that situation. But that wasn't the case here. Callaway went with his second best option on the POSSIBILITY that it would help him win the next game. Worry about the game you're playing, Mickey!
So he went all in on a second game where he had P.J. Conlon starting? Brilliant.

Was just going to post here comes a double play. Rosario comes through. Will the bullpen hold with Robles out of the way?

The money is coming in on the Braves in the second game faster than is the lava flowing in Hawaii. They don't even care who the Mets' pitcher is.They're just betting against them.
Lots of people lost money, lol. I learned a long time ago, there is no sure bet in sports. I had the Colts over the Jets, giving 21 as a lock in SB #3,how did that work out for me and a ton of NFL believers that felt the AFL was the minor leagues?

Mets showed some spark last night. Rosario and Guillome with 5 RBIs. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for the future.

Best of all, three scoreless innings from Heroic Hansel. His steady, powerful right arm has righted the Mets' ship.

Mets took a punch in the face yesterday afternoon, and seemed to respond OK.
I like the way you think.
I would like to thing that IF (BIG IF) Frazier and Cespedes come back, and they hit well, and Cabrera continues, and Conforto and a couple of young guys (Nimmo, Rosario, Guillome) produce at the plate, they have a chance for a wild card spot. Heck, things are so neck and neck, they can win the NL East.

But that's the way I think. Never say die.

Reyes starting again. This is why you can't even have him on the roster. He gets used.

I have officially crossed over to the side of agreeing with that "Reyes The Virus" Facebook Troll.
There is a guy on the SNY blog who has been posting about the cancer that Reyes has been on the teams he has been on. I will try to find one of his posts. It is scary.

Here is the comment on Reyes. Did not verify accuracy:

1)the very talented blue jays couldn't win with Reyes in their locker room then they get rid of him and go to the Alcs 2 years in a row.
2) after the Rockies aquired reyes in 2015 they got 16 games worse that same year.
3) 2007 and 2008 biggest collapses in history Reyes hit under 200 during the collapses and the team lacked urgency and focus.
4)2012 Marlins were supposed to have a bright future with Reyes instead they get rid of him in the first year of a 5 year contract one of the biggest underachieving teams in MLB history 25 games under 500 with reyes
5)2017 mets underachieving disaster 22 games under 500 with Reyes.
6)2018 underachieving disaster no playoffs . Jose reyes is the rare person who is a that destroys every team he is on bleaching his hair laughing non stop including when the team is losing. His unhealthy personality messes upeveryone's timing and makes guys lose urgency without them realizing it. Worst move in mets history bringing back that Virus

Did anyone catch the 7th inning of the first game yesterday? Mets brought the infield in, except for Reyes at 3B who stayed back at normal depth. Never saw anything like it before. Gary and Keith were like WTF? Gary asked if he's that uncomfortable playing third, why are they playing him there? Valid question IMO.

Meh. Correlation does not imply causality. Reyes' skills may be significantly diminished, perhaps even to the point of suckitude, but there is no reason to believe it is or has been contagious.

Right now our DL could beat our starting lineup

It would require some positional flexibility, but you may be right:

1B - Wilmer Flores
2B - TJ Rivera
SS - Gavin Cecchini (on Vegas DL)
3B - David Wright
LF - Yoenis Cespedes
CF - Juan Lagares
RF - Todd Frazier (he has played one MLB game there!)
C - Travis d'Arnaud
SP - Noah Syndergaard
RP - AJ Ramos, Anthony Swarzak, Rafael Montero, Corey Oswalt (Vegas DL), Jamie Callahan (Vegas DL)

It’s not that unusual to play the corner at normal dept.
Third baseman should still have a play at home from even with the bag or a step behind it...if he’s playing deep, it makes no sense

Hitting wise the DL when healthy is far better than what we have. If we play one game Thor vs. Degrom can go either way ( esp. since we don’t score for Degrom). Relief pitching would go to current team but not by much

Quickly looking at a lineup of

1. Lagares CF
2. TJ Rivera 2B
3. Wright 3B
4. Cespedes LF
5. Frazier RF
6. Flores 1B
7. D’Arnaud C
8. Cecchini SS
9. Thor.

Maybe not murder’s row but I would gladly go to war with that lineup
