Did you see how Judge got hurt ?
And you think that was because he is injury prone or moves awkwardly ?
100%. Other players would cruise that area and not look like Herman Munster making that catch. How old is that stadium and how long has that gate been closed? Yet Herman crashed through it.

What difference does it make how he got hurt he is injury prone. His size & weight 100% played a role in that injury. Should the fence be built sturdier yes...did anyone else crash thru that fence no. Hes a big dude

That's the best you got?? 🤣🤣 You really are stupid.
Well has he? Remember this isn't the Yankee thread so don't go crying about how you can now crash the Mets thread like you've said so many times in the past, and don't say you haven't said that. Join the 3 D-Bags that have been living in there, you'll fit right in.

Alonzo is so great that most Mets players don't like him as a teammate and Cohen is actively considering dumping him.
Here, you dumb ***.
"At least a handful" of Mets players plan to privately appeal to Steve Cohen for the team to retain Pete Alonso as his free agency approaches in 2024, per FOX Sports' Deesha Thosar:
"Players reiterated that Alonso is a hard worker and fun-loving, terrific at what he does, handles playing in New York with aplomb, a glue guy of the clubhouse and a special member of the team's core — and he might end up in the Hall of Fame. Those points would be made to Steve Cohen directly, players said."https://sny.tv/articles/pete-alonso...UcEkFFoAr4Nolm33Z6_IUh2TX9TAQDYJ9gYb6x9Ry-t5M

Actually it's neither...I am a Yankee fan since birth my older brothers & sisters decided that for me. But at the same time I really respect Alonso's game he drives in runs. Reminiscent of Cabrera & Puljols. Can he do it as long as them or as consistent as them that is a tall task. Many many many arguments with my bro-in-law & his family over the years who are all the opposite die hard Mets fans. My sister didnt do her job as matriarch 2 out of the 3 boys are Met Fans

I'll repeat, because you are just too stupid to remember. I don't give a rats *** about the Mets thread. Guess you didn't find any of my posts there this season.

Wake me up when Alonso wins an MVP.
Wake me up when either wins a championship

But I will again say that both guys are great players and both have a great shot to build HOF careers. So, anyone that tries to make it sound like either guy isn’t worthy, is just ignorant.
The OP just brought up an interesting point in comparing two great players.

Here is a legit comparison. People in every city flock to see Aaron Judge. He draws crowds to batting practice. I've never heard that fans sell out stadiums to see Alonso coming into their town. Judge is a media money maker.

Who gives a flying F about a WAR. Whoever came up with these stupid launch speed, launch angles, WAR etc is an idiot at the end of the day it is about 3 things. BA, RUN SCORED & RBI's . WAR is for the fantasy dudes. Runs scored & RBI's are for W's And the facts are Alonso plates more guys than Judge. Do you understand he has RBI's in only 8 games in which he has not hit an HR that is NOT productivity
That's looking at things in a simplistic way.

I'm not a Met fan or hater but I realized they can be weird when they got rid of Daniel Murphy.
That guy was folklore in the playoffs.
Mets caught magic in a bottle and emptied it out

I am a diehard Yanks fan and love Judge. With that said, Alonso's power numbers are outstanding.

I have to give Alonso his due. He is on pace to become the second fastest player to 250 HRs.
Not meant this as anything against what you said as it was one of the few respectful of both players. But it brings up the OP point.
If all of Pete’s HR’s up until he hits 250 are all solo HR’s and he doesn’t get any other RBI- he would pretty much have the same RBI’s that Judge has at 251…

I always found the D Murphy thing as strange. He was a very solid hitter for the Met's- limited in the field and a somewhat horrible base runner. Met's made him a qualifying offer of nearly 16 mil and he signed a 3 year deal with Nats at about 12.5 per year. And the Met's picked up N. Walker, who up to that point in both of their careers, was at least equal to Murphy with more power and a little better in the field. He also was doing very well until a herniated disk.
Murphy also had his off the field views that may have had something to do with it. But they did make him a very solid QO.
They also thought they had his heir apparent waiting in the wings- and interesting how a part of this player's history almost effected the current team.
D. Herrerra was supoosed to be the guy to replace him. Never panned out and ended up traded to the Reds for J Bruce- Critical to this current team because the Met's first offered a young OF to the Reds and the deal fell through- That OF name was Nimmo.

Also- what I always find interesting with Murphy, It always seemed like after he left the Met's, he went on a HOF type of tear for years. While it was only 2 years. For some reason, it just seemed like 10. hahaha

As a Phillies fan who hates the Mets, and to a lesser degree the Yankees, Pete Alonso is a stud.

Even when the Mets suck, like this year for instance, theirs always 1 guy on that team who comes into Citizens Bank Park and crushes it, for a while it David Wright and then Cepesdes and now its Alonso. Feel like they hit a HR every game in Philly.

Judge on the other hand is box office. I mean they were leaving football games to show his at bats last year. Hes got an MVP and had played in big games and has clutch hits.

I'd gladly take either one, but if i am starting a team from scratch right now, give me Alonso cause he is younger and I can build a team around him

I agreed with what you said up to the point you referenced Judge having played in big games and had clutch hits. Compared to his regular season, his postseason has been a complete and utter failure.

Exactly thank you yesrutgers01 I still cannot believe that Judge has only plated a runner in 8 games in which he did not HR in. I didnt even think that was possible batting in 1st 3 spots

What does the first 3 spots have to do with it. You can't plate a runner if no one is on! Understand?? The stats you need to look at is his average with runners in scoring position less then 2 out.

Maybe i assumed too much but being that hes played in a lot of playoff games (44) and was a key figure in them going to all those playoffs, i figured he had to have had big hits.
But maybe not, i don't watch Yankee games regularly.

There are several advanced stats like rOBA, wRC+, Rbat and Rbat+, which actually measure productivity across meaningful situations, which helps to explain why Judge has a much higher WAR while having less RBIs, and is a much better player. RBIs are an incomplete way to judge hitters, just like wins is a limited way to measure pitching success.

All the advanced stats - again, not to knock Judge but if you are a player who is not in there to move runners up and you are the big bat in the lineup- how do these other advanced stats help you win as being more important as runs.
As for Judge- I am sure his runs scored helps him a lot.
But to compare to wins for a pitcher- makes no sense. A pitcher can go 7 innings give up 1 run and either lose or have a no decision. A batter- we are only looking at his stats.
And with this thread- it is only pointing out something that is interesting with Judge but does not mean he is not good. Just- why does he happen to have a very low ratio of rbi to hr

If you don't know what you are talking about, you shouldn't respond. Every stat I referenced is a way to measure runs created. You know, the thing you say is the most important thing.

And a pitcher can go 6 and give up 5 runs and still win.
And if no one is on base your rbi total is down. Check the Yankee lineup averages.

As I stated, Judges runs are a big part of those stats. This thread is about the weird ratio of HR to RBI

I never saw a player do a real life Redford "The Natural."
It was miraculous to see him hit homer after homer in desperate moments to get Mets to WS.
Yet on radio all I heard was "he's a net negative."
Yankees used to talk about their "ghosts" and Murphy became one for the Mets but they ditched him like the did Ray Knight.
I cant get excited for teams that consistently have episodes of mysterious self-destruction

Do you reward players for a single decent year and a great playoff run?

We all think of Ray Knight as having such an impactful Met's career. He was here like 3 seasons and his best season was .298 11 HR 76 RBI. That is good but not a player you have to have. And his replacement happened to go 30/30 99 RBI the next year. And became one of the all time great Met players. Signing Ray to a 2 year deal and blocking Hojo would have been criminal.

If the fans love the guy, and then they love the team more and buy tickets, then sure keep him. Mets only go to the WS on his heroics - maybe he could do it again.

There are a lot of athletes that are iconic but that werent great.
Namath was like that and so was Bo Jackson
Jackson is often called the greatest althlete of all time but his stats are pretty mediocre.
He never won a tittle and he never broke 1 K yards rushing - only 16 TDs in 4 year career - made Pro Bowl 1x.
But people remember him for a few stunts like running up the outfield wall, smashing Bosworth on a run and breaking a bat over his head.
Not a lot of meat on the BOne but people love him (he was/is a great guy)

And one of the reasons why Cashman needs to be fired and kicked to the curb with his entire stupid analytics model. MLB is changing and once again, Cashman is way behind.
Maybe Judge's RBI total would be higher if he had men on base in front of him.
Batting 2nd with a home run guy in front of him. Did Ruth bat 2nd. how about Dimaggio
Lou Gehrig, Mantle, Berra. Maybe these analytics should be shoved somewhere. Cashman took over a great system but he
he is obsessed with changing the game that was working fine for well over a hundred years.
