Head's up, but it's kinda hard to drive in runs other than by hitting a home run unless there are teammates on base when you are at bat. For most of the season the Yankees have been a little short in the "getting on base" department. It's one of the reasons some teams walk him so often.
And one of the reasons why Cashman needs to be fired and kicked to the curb with his entire stupid analytics model. MLB is changing and once again, Cashman is way behind.

Judge is actually a better ball player than Alonso.

But the HR/RBI ratio is very strange. Even with his two monster years- his career is 1.98 RBI to every HR
Trout is 2.55/1
Alonso 2.57/1
Freeman 3.56/1

Heck- even Lindor is 3.17/1
is he though?? Take away Covid yr and Alonso has plated 100+ 3 out of 4 yrs with 94 in the 4th year. Judge in 7 years has played 100+ twice with 3rd year at 98. At the end of the day plated runs equate to wins not WAR, Bat exit speed or launch angles
2 players that do not get nearly enough credit for their body of work Albert Pujoils & Miguel Cabrera those 2 dudes just PRODUCED. Instead all you hear about is Mike Trout & his WAR. He's plated 100+ 3 times in his career. I know he's from NJ but come on WAR Homer's. He dont even care about baseball anymore he only cares about his golf country club/resort he is opening with Tiger Woods

Kbee I will bite on your theory but Judge has only been walked 100+ times twice in his career. His K's far outweigh his walks

Take this year

76 hits. 11 doubles 31 HR's 62 walks 108k's He has 34 singles on the year is it quite possible that he swings for a HR every single at bat every single swing and the only reason he has a single was because his launch angle didnt equate to HR angle. Hit the bottom half of bat.

Judge has 76 hits this season. Every NYY player is told to swing up and for a HR every single at bat because of stupid Cashman and his moronic analytics. This is even pervasive in the minors (which is why Volpe's swing needs a lot of work).

Who gives a flying F about a WAR. Whoever came up with these stupid launch speed, launch angles, WAR etc is an idiot at the end of the day it is about 3 things. BA, RUN SCORED & RBI's . WAR is for the fantasy dudes. Runs scored & RBI's are for W's And the facts are Alonso plates more guys than Judge. Do you understand he has RBI's in only 8 games in which he has not hit an HR that is NOT productivity

Have you considered that Judge is not getting as much opportunity to drive in runs because the Yankees have been dreadful in putting runners on and in scoring position while he is at the plate?

Also, take care when analyzing a limited data set (i.e a single season) when comparing.

While you make it sound like Judge sucks compared to Alonso, the data shows that their career splits with RISP are actually fairly closely comparable.

Career stats with runners in scoring position...

Plate Appearances. Judge 791 / Alonso 767
Batting Avg. - Judge .286. / Alonso .263
OBP - Judge .426 / Alonso .383
Slugging - Judge .546 / Alonso .570
RBI - Judge 284 / Alonso 288
Hits - Judge 172 / Alonso 162
HR - Judge 42 / Alonso 54
2B - Judge 28 / Alonso 25
OPS - Judge 972 / Alonso 953
GIDP - Judge 19 / Alonso 28

Yeah I knew that dont know why i looked at that. Bid E on my part. You'd think Cashman would take a look at 2 teams models in particular

Red Sox. & Tampa. 2 teams with alot of success that actually put people on base and run the bases like the game should be played. That's why the Yanks were successful with Jeter they played small ball unfortunately these guys went against that model.

You do realize that Pete Alonzo has 3 less yrs under his belt though right. Use that same metric after Alonso plays 3 more years

Their plate appearances with RISP are similar even with that 3 year difference. That alone should tell you that Alonso is getting more men on base opportunities every season than Judge. For a Yankee fan you appear to be trying way too hard to denigrate the guy when the team's problems have been elsewhere.

Cashman is a classic overreactor. Houston won in 2017 with HR analytics and Cashman adopted this model but then pushed it to the Nth degree. Completely late to the party. Now baseball has changed again like you point out. Small ball, quality at bats, young players are what's winning. Cashman is already late again. Does he need to be fired? The entire organization needs to be rid of HR analytics.

Also take into account that Judge cannot stay healthy at all. Being he's 6'7 280+ lbs his future will be DH in a couple yrs or possibly 1B. Alonso already at 1B.

While its true that Judge has missed playing time, not sure what that has to do with your original premise that Judge is all or nothing at the plate compared to Alonso - which does not appear to be the case when looking at the stats.

The thing is- we are debating 2 really really good hitters. There is no wrong answer but for the 3 years tha Judge has had with just a very low ration- it just seems fair to ask why.
He has also had 2 years where he was a massive run producer as well.

Consistency think Alonso has more consistency. Is it possible Judge just saw the balls better those 2 yrs...not buying it. Maybe it all boils down to health someone 6'7 280 lbs should not be playing OF. That's alot of weight on the feet. Knees & back chasing fly balls

Anyone who opines that Judge should not play the outfield has never seen him actually play the outfield.
Hell, he's done a pretty good job when he's played centerfield.

Their Hits/PA don’t come anywhere close to the BAs presented here. That makes me question all the data.

I just can't knock a healthy Judge. Great Great player.
But he has 3 season over 145 games played and 3 seasons under 120. And it has been the under 120 game seasons that have been the bad ratios.
Agreed hes had a tough time overcoming these injuries in his 20's in his 30's will be worse. Somewhere along the line they dont move him to DH or 1B career will be shortened though Dave Windfield excelled but also wasnt 280lbs +

He's still on the Yankees and The Captain because he broke MLB's season HR record (non-steroids) that stood for about 60 years.
Not true he is still on the Yanks because he is 6'7 280lbs plus a mountain of a man that generates unreal interest from all fans regardless of team that commands lots of $$$ & makes the Yanks more $$$$. Very respectful & humble much like Jeter. Do you really believe any owner gives 2 hoots if their players are roided out or not as long as they dont get caught. Roids sold alot of tickets & Jerseys for the Giants. Cardinals & Cubs

Judge is also wildly overpaid off a year he finally stayed healthy. He is a key reason the team sucked balls this year. Roster is top heavy salary wise and they will be a last place team for a while unless they change everything. But Cashman is there ti stay. Enjoy !
This is quite the post. Worry about the Mets who are even worse than the Yankees despite them throwing more money out on a roster than any other team in the history of baseball.

I'll agree with you on Cashman being an idiot. Once they started cutting old farts and dead weight and brought up the kids, they actually start playing well and are watchable. Shocker!

keep in mind throughout a good chunk of his career Judge has batted 2nd and even lead off many many times. In fact, a few years ago, he was led off for majority of the season presumably to get him as many at bats as possible.

Matters only 1 time each game. But, that most likely does take a couple of RBI away.

No. The second time the lead off batter comes up he is following the guys at the bottom of the order....unless he's leading off another inning. Isn't the bottom of the order the spot where you're most likely to find the guys least likely to get on base ? So, every time he comes up after his first at bat of the game the lead off man is less likely to find guys on base than if he was hitting third or fourth or fifth.

You’re not wrong either. It would be interesting to see how often he comes to bat with bases empty compared to other sluggers.

Alonzo is so great that most Mets players don't like him as a teammate and Cohen is actively considering dumping him.
You consistently show your stupidity. How about how dumb it was for the Yankees to try to embarrass Judge prior to his historic year?
And no one is “shopping” Alonso-
Do you think there is a single player that a GM just hangs up the phone if a team asks about any player?
If a team calls the Yankees today and asks Cashman if they could make an offer for Judge, do you think he hangs up before listening?
If you think he would, then you are just stupid, or he is stupid.

And you think that was because he is injury prone or moves awkwardly ?
