Lol even worse for you Alonso .1982 rbi's per AB
Judge .1887 RBI's per AB in career. Sobering fact 2 Judge 3rd Highest salary in MLB tied for 99th in RBI's well at least he hit his #
This year in particular unless he hits a HR he's bringing nothing ineffective the remainder of games. The last time he produced an RBI in which he has not hit an HR is 35 games ago. In 42 games w/o an HR he has 4 RBI's 3 were in 1 game. That's not $40 mil production that's like $10 mil production. Has 62 RBI's for the year 8 came on 2 swings

What sucks is trying to find ways to knock either Judge or Alonso- I think the original question was thought provoking but it has turned into a thread to find a way to knock two great players.

Oh I think the Mets & Yanks are both terrible. The mets tried to take a page from Yanks and buy buy buy. The last person I would have bought was Cano. Got busted for PEDs did you think he was going to change his stripes especially at 36...wasted money. The yankees have a shitload of dead weight. If they want to right the ship and go in right direction they need to go youth. I know Judge good guy, role model, beast but think the proper play was to trade him before last year. You could have picked up some really good younger players and unloaded the dead weight. Some of the dead weight they paid so much they cant unload. He's not guaranteed to stay healthy as we've seen. George used to care about winning his kid cares about making money. Also the problem with the Yanks making the playoffs is that they are going to face the other teams dominant pitcher 2-3 times in the series and with these guys swinging out if their shoes the K's mount up fast. The LOB's mount up fast followed by losses

The Yankees have a Stud. The Mets have a Stud. Neither has much around them to work with

Changing the subject a little- Amazing that Cole is considered the front runner for Cy Young and Senga isn't for ROY. Their stats are almost identical.
There is a noticeable difference in W-L record for relatively similar performing teams.

As for the thought, think everyday players generally are given more credit for all encompassing awards than pitchers. Cole May lead Cy Young race, but not involved in MVP one. If there was rookie pitcher of year…

deGrom sort of showed that wins don't really mean much for starting pitchers

Well, with the late start and injury- maybe not but you are not wrong. He had a run going that you could really only compare Koufax and Pedro to.
Not alot of pitchers were unhittable. That dude was unhittable every game. Still dont know how Greg Maddux was unhittable. I k nnnmnm ow he hit his spots pinpoint. But DeGrom just had great stuff...not gonna lie wish the bombers had that dude

That’s a little extreme. W-L aren’t the be all end all, but after ERA, there isn’t a more important one.

If Kershaw and DeGrom’s top seasons overlapped, Kershaw gets the CY award more often, if not always.

I don’t disagree with the idea DeGrom had hard luck with support. That said, his methods have allowed for him to only have a little over 200 starts. That pales in comparison to even Koufax. His win total would a lot closer to 100 than any other milestone number.

There isn't a current active pitcher that will hit 300 wins. Hell, Verlander may be the last to hit 250. And this year- out of qualified pitchers with an era under 3.00, only one has a shot at 20 wins.

Though, I agree that Kershaw's years were better that deGrom's.

Agreed on the 300. Also I'm not certain you are going to see alot of 3,000 hit guys anymore. Dudes are losing alot of hits swinging for fences every AB.

Problem with pitchers is with all these kids playing year round with their town teams, town all star teams and multi club teams they are ruining these kids arms. They need to put something in place to overly limit pitching more than they do now. I dont care what age you are you only have a certain number of pitches in your arm

Just watched my nephew play in Jackson Twp this past Sat-Sun. made it to the semi-finals, no pitch count and one parent told the coach to take his son out because he was complaining of a sore elbow. They lost to a obnoxious team from SI who brought their own PA system, announcing players names and stats and playing loud music between pitches. I couldn't believe the umps allowed it to be honest. That team was loaded, very good, it didn't matter just rude beyond belief if you ask me.These were 11 and 12 year olds playing on 50/70 fields so I thought that was a little over the top.

The few LLWS games I have watched recently have these kids also throwing curves, sliders etc...Crazy what gets done to young kids anymore.

I was 11 last game I pitched. One of my coaches taught me a curve used 3 fingers minus my pinky. Correction last LL game ever went on vacation next day I also had a screwball and a pretty solid fastball. I couldnt throw fastball for strikes aimed it. Threw nothing but curves & screwball
The curve was easy just threw it in general direction of left shoulder on righthanders. As long as I snapped at elbow it was a real big breaker. The screwball didn't move nearly as much maybe like 6" max but when they were looking for curve it might as well had been 2ft. Remember that game like it was yesterday all star tourney in Fords threw a 1 hitter with 17K's the other out was soft tapper back to me. Coaches told me to be careful with this one batter big boy. I looked at them and laughed like wtf I struck everyone out to that point. I hung a curve this kid hit to dead center over fence, like 30ft of grass, over road going into complex over more grass and halfway up into trees. That kid had to bang that at least 350FT minimum probably closer to like 380FT Absolutely Crushed it. My team was laughing at me on the field. I dont think any of us had ever seen a ball hit that far. I didnt like pitching I walked way too many with my fastball but coaches always wanted me to pitch. I'd much rather play CF. What good is having a solid fastball when couldnt throw for strikes The harder i tried to throw for strike the worse it got. The curve & screwball were easy i didnt aim for strike zone just threw general area. Totally mental. I learned screwball playing catch with my brother. 9yrs older than me and he'd throw screwball to me when playing catch to piss me off. Finally showed me. Wasnt hard used the last 3 fingers middle to pinky and just rolled my hand. I definitely see now how the curve could put strain on elbow if you threw it right

I'll take Pete. Better run producer and STAYS on the field! He ain't going anywhere. Hit 40+ HR in 3 of 5 seasons, 100 RBI 3 out of 5 seasons, Judge only 2 times in his 7+ career, and only 100+ in 2 out of 7+ seasons. One last thing, Judge K's about once every 3 ab's, Alonso once every 4 ab's, another reason why Pete produces more RBI's without hitting HR's. You are what the back of your baseball card says you are! https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/10918/

I am a Mets/Alonso guy but disagree with this.
When healthy, Judge is a beast and I don’t include this year’s injury with the type of injuries he has had in the past.
When healthy, can't be factored out, sorry it will always be part of the equation when evaluating a players worth. Unless you want to factor in the sale of tee-shirts like The 3 Amigos do, lol.

You mean he hit 62 home runs last season and he wasn't healthy ?
Typically flipping the script. You know the big knock on your guy is he doesn't stay on the field. Hip hip hooray, playing for a new contract he stayed healthy lol. Sucks for you since you'll never see that again.

Alonzo will be playing for another team next season. From Doctor Worm which is good enough for me.
SI reporting that Mets have agreed with Alonso on the financials of a new contract, but are apart on length. Alonso wants 10 years.

Mets denying any agreement (as they should) and state that they will keep negotiations private.

I assume the leak came from Alonso's camp.

He’s never healthy though. That’s a big problem and a big reason for my argument

An MVP from last year gets injured by running into a wall to save a game win or by diving for a ball .....and you classify him as "most over rated in MLB" but another former MVP on the same team guy making $32m a year who is always injured and can't even play the field regularly and is hitting 0.190 you are silent on? Your so called argument is fng stupid.

I think that Stanton has just become a “oh well” regardless of anything else. There is no argument or discussion to be had.
Worst signing/contract of all time
