He will be remembered because of his remarks regarding Rutgers women basketball players.
I agree. Thought he was older.RIP. My old man loved him. I never got him. I figured he must have been 90+. Was shocked to see he was only 79. Drugs are a terrible thing.
I think he accomplished a bit more than just that. Not a fan but I remember hearing him on my school bus as a kid.
Love him or hate him, he was definitely influential in talk radio, no question. You could argue that he was the foundation that allowed WFAN and sports talk radio as a whole to become what it is today. He will be missed. I remember him being on WNBC with Howard Stern. He was the Big Dog before Stern.
He apologized for what he said about the Rutgers Women's Basketball team.
He was trying to be funny early in the morning that one day that crossed the line into racism. But remember, It was Rosenberg who was the instigator, not Imus. Imus did deserve to lose his job over it.
Not defending him, but we have a President who says worse things every day and he may get re-elected.
Imus had a very unique entertaining show that had politicians from both sides on his TV and radio show. He tried to be fair, mostly.
There is no one who does what he did in the second half of his career. Stern is trying but he will not be Imus. Imus reinvented himself masterfully.
Imus was not perfect and sometimes mean, but overall he will be in a good place for all the good he did for the poor kids afflicted with cancer.
You're a lyin' motherf*cker. School buses didn't have radios when you were a kid.

No seriously. They got new buses for us youngsters behind your class. Those had radios. [roll]
Will 'Nappy headed hos' be on his tombstone ?
C'Viv and the RU W BB team are 10-1 play and play Wisconsin at 3pm tomorrow. Doubt there will be a moment of silence for Imus.
Let it go. You will feel better if you can do that.
His work with kids with cancer outweighs any comment he made, imho.

Wasnt the Mets on FAN at the time and the Yankees on WABC?I use to listen to the Yankees on the fan at night, the next morning my radio
Would be on the same channel, and
I would hear him, and couldn't change
The channel fast enough.

Don Imus's Ranch For Sick Children Draws Scrutiny
Charity Spent $2.6 Million Last Year on Just 100 Kids; His Family's Holiday Visits
I saw what it did for the kids, they lit up and loved it there.
From what I remember....Quack quack.
Yeah me too. They had Imus and Howard Stern both for a few years. Still remember the ads for them, "If we weren't so bad, we wouldn't be so good!"I think he accomplished a bit more than just that. Not a fan but I remember hearing him on my school bus as a kid.
