I respectfully disagree, Pete. Kerr.s rant was about 50 senators blocking HR 8 from a vote in the senate. If Kerr had read the bill, he would know that the legislation would not have prevented the sale of the guns purchased. In addition, his position two years ago was to remove armed police presence from schools. His rant was simply an emotional reaction to a tragedy that now, after the facts have come to light, was in all probability preventable had the protocols post Columbine been implemented and properly executed. To me, he was neither eloquent or effective. School shootings can and should be preventable with proper safety procedures and effective policing. That should be the debate.I feel that Steve Kerr expressed that more directly, eloquently and effectively. Sadly, he has more credibility on the matter too. Kapler’s mild statement and ambiguous action isn’t going to inspire too many people.
Sorry, this is more deflection. He was right. Dealing with these horrible incidents takes a multipronged approach. Mental health, early intervention, gun control laws (yeah I said it), better school security, etc. But the answer will never be arming teachers. Geez, I wonder if some folks understand what prep goes into being a good teacher. Now everyone wants teachers to be LEO.I respectfully disagree, Pete. It should be one part of the debate. It is a big enough issue to combat it from multiple paths.I respectfully disagree, Pete. They should both issues need to be addressedMaybe someone could do the same at Wrigley
And before we hear but Chicago the cities need to combat gangs effectivelySome really disgusting joke posts here. WTF is

When is someone going to take a stand on the unaddressed mental health issue in this country? Or maybe Kepler is killing two birds with one stone? They should both issues need to be addressed
Funny when the “who cares” crowd gets “worked up” so much that they can’t resist posting about it.
So you're saying if some aspects of the country work in his favor, he should shut up and be happy and not want to see the less desirable parts improve? Interesting take.
Like if a restaurant gave you a perfectly cooked steak for dinner. A $500 cut of meat. The perfect steak. And on the side, they gave you a steaming pile of ****. You just eat the **** because the restaurant gave you steak, and you should now trust them blindly. Definitely don't question why they're serving **** as a side.
Let him go. He's on a roll.*wanton
Not this …

Eugene Sledge’s WW2 Diary, With The Old Breed”, depicting the horrors he and his fellow marines endured during the brutal battles of Pelelieu and Okinawa should be mandatory reading. I can’t understand how anyone can disrespect our flag and National Anthem after the sacrifices our veterans made for our freedom. Call me old fashioned but that’s what I believe in.
Ah … no.Am I the "who cares" crowd? And if so why?
Who cares. If he wants to sit in the clubhouse for the national anthem that's his right. But what he does or doesn't do has no affect on my life so I'm not worried about it.
National Anthem protests have happened many many times in our country’s history
this is what I found
( storming the capital is only allowed by the British and traitors so that’s not considered protesting)
Refusal to stand during the national anthem became a widespread form of protest during World War I.
In 1943.there was an incident where college students in Philadelphia refused to stand because he custom was leading to "rabid nationalism".
In the 1960s, refusal to stand during the anthem took place for a number of reasons. In the late 1960s, the protest became increasingly common among athletes and at schools, both as an opposition to the Vietnam War and as a protest of nationalism.
One of John Wooden’s UCLA teams (1969) didn’t come out of the locker room during part of that season until after the National Anthem was over , Wooden denied that was because some of his players would refuse to stand during the playing of the National Anthem, bit it was reported the reason was because of a protest started over how some black University of Wyoming athletes were treated that was spreading across the country
That same year other college players protesting the same issue made their schools stay in the locker-room until the playing of the anthem was over because they were going to refuse to stand while it was being played
In 1996 a Denver Nugget player refused to stand during the playing of the Anthem because he felt America was treating his religion wrongly.
We all know of the kneeling and staying in the locker room by some NFL teams recently, so getting upset at Kapler is kind of ridiculous and just a way of saying if you want to protest >you can only protest the way I like it to be and not the way it usually has been over the years..
Ah … no.
I was referring to this:

Sorry for the confusion.
I never said anything about arming teachers. YOU said he addressed it ( the issue) more directly, eloquently and effectively. What did he say other than complaining about 50 senators blocking legislation that would not have prevented this tragedy? He also gave a statement before all the facts were revealed. Please explain how his statement was eloquent or effective? I am advocating for a national debate on a multi-faceted problem; Kerr called out one party for allegedly obstructing a bill that would have prevented this tragedy. Yet he is praised for pounding the table with indignation. Some really disgusting joke posts here. WTF is

You were merely a prop.I have never theatrically chatted with anyone I was aware of before. LOL. No worries.
An egg roll? Those are great with wonton soup.Let him go. He's on a roll.
By early accounts, it looks like the school had school security, and the police were on the scene quickly. The local police had also recently completed training in active shooter incidents. Everything that could have gone wrong at Uvalde seems to have gone wrong. Some really disgusting joke posts here. WTF is

I believe the shooter was arrested a year ago and was saying then he was going to shoot up the school. It should be one part of the debate. It is a big enough issue to combat it from multiple paths.
Wrong shooter. That was the Buffalo shooter. The police (and maybe the FBI?) interviewed him, he said he was kidding, and they let him go. There should be strict standards for people who own guns that if they express that they want to commit violence with guns, their guns should be taken away. This should not be a difficult concept, except for the NRA and the lawyers will be screaming about the Second and First Amendments.I believe the shooter was arrested a year ago and was saying then he was going to shoot up the school.
I think we need juvenile justice reform. That kid should have been in jail and undergoing treatment for mental illness.
The problem is that the group he called out never budges on this issue. C’mon man you know that. We have seen it every time. I actually agree with you on one aspect of this issue as I think the police were poorly trained leading up to this. Kerr is fine on this. Need to get people off their asses.I never said anything about arming teachers. YOU said he addressed it ( the issue) more directly, eloquently and effectively. does the religion matter.????Is it OK if someone consistently thinks that type of protest is wrong all the time? Ya know, since you're the guy laying down the law? I noticed you skipped a detail about the 1996 protest, What was that religion?
I find this post to be willful and wonton. An egg roll? Those are great with wonton soup.
does the religion matter.
If it does then freedom of religion in America only means the religions the majority of Americans feel acceptable to them.
In case you didn't guess before asking> Muslim.
There as a country that the majority of its citizans didn't care for the Jewish population enough to stand up for the Jewish among them.
America should never look down on a religion, just the way some scumbags use it to validate their hate. didn't care
Nor should we care about what religion is being oppressed , if one is, we should feel oppressing any religion is going against the Constitution of the United States and the moral code of the USA.
Feeling the way some ( peacefully) protest is wrong is something thsat is everyones right, just like others feeling there's nothing wrong they way that ( peaceful) protest is acceptable is a right all Americans should have.
Expecting everyone to agree with your POV on that protest is wrong , just like choosing a religion to hate is wrong.
Hating those who use religion to do terrorist acts shouldn't be considered a bad thing just like hurting the police protecting congress members, doing their job, should be considered a bad act by anti American scum

There is a process for that. If supporters of this idea want to engage in that, go for it and see where it leads.Repeal the second amendment. No reason for it any longer.
Maybe it’s part of a greater strategy that helps prevent these incidents but may temporarily inconvenience our law abiding gun owners. That works for me, does it work for you?How does restricting the rights of law abiding gun owners help a situation where some crazy person shoots innocents?
does the attack on the capital by those trying to stop congress from counting the electoral college ballots to validate the presidential election belong on your "working against my country and our interests." list.Everything matters if it's working against my country and our interests.
Protected from jail. Not protected from others calling a particular protest stupid and mocking the corresponding protester.Peaceful protests are protected by the US Constitution.
I'll also support Kapler's right to protest the way he feels right ( non violent) and also feel he's protesting the wrong way and actly distracting from the issue he's protesting about.I don’t like a lot of things going on in this country either but I always stand for the anthem. I always respect those who put their lives on the line so guys like Mr Kotter can whine about our country. I don’t like the whiners but it’s his right to be a whiner if he wants. That’s why we owe so much to our veterans. We have the right to act like idiots and do whatever we want thanks to them. So I’ll stand for the Flag every time.
